    Hiya Boo!

1: You play a hero in a game, a villain in the other.

2: More players in CoV since most recent, still decent amount in both, no shortage of groups.

3: Villains are more offensives and heroes are more defensive as a whole.

4: Each archtype is unique, even if it has some comon powers with another, they are quite differents and play extremely differently.

5: Villains are more solo-friendly, even if CoH is extremely solo-friendly in itself.

6: Heroes are significantly stronger in PvP.  I *think* Villains are better in PvE.

7: Villains tend to be less specialised and more able to do a little of everything, for example a corruptor is a heavy nuker with buffs, a brute is an offensive melee.

8: CoH runs more smoothly, less lag....not much lag at all in either, but smoothier for CoH.

9: Connections between zones is simplier in CoV, it is not really complex in CoH, but it is a little more than in CoV.

10: The communities is quite different, both are nice, but peoples who stick to CoH have different personnalities than peoples who move to the most recent game.

11: CoH has some raiding ; however it is the less bad raiding I ever saw, it is still raiding.

Both are great games IMO, but I will admit, I am a fanboi and I enjoy these games a LOT.

Anofalye hits the majority of the major differences, but there are a few others

1.) neither game is "complete" without the other - that is, there are places only villains can go, and places only heroes can go, as well as items (notably costume pieces and such) you get only with a CoH account that has been upgraded with a CoV account.  There is also the Good vs. Evil bonus pack, a great add-on.  No, I don't work for NCSoft.

2.) CoV is much smaller -  there are less zones, less routes for travel, etc., than in CoH.  Badgewhoring is much easier in CoV because of this.  In CoH, you actually have to pay attention and plan your path in order to get badges, especially at the earlier levels.

3.) Villains are more cool than heroes because we get robbery, kidnapping, arson, and prison break missions.  Heroes only get to interfere with such activities.

4.) Currently, heroes who reach level 50 unlock the Kheldians (peacebringers and warshades), whereas in CoV you get nothing for leveling to 50.  The villains will get something comparable in the future, but it isn't here yet.

5.) Villains are more cool than heroes (I didn't say that before, did I?).

Villains is a bit more linear in progression.  You start in Mercy then go to Port Oakes, then Cap Au etc.  Heroes you start in Atlas OR Galaxy and then can move to Hollows OR Kings etc.  That certainately makes Heroes feel "bigger" but some people don't like all the running back and forth.

The Archtypes are distinctly different, a Brute isn't just an "evil tanker" as it were.  I find that Villains is far more solo friendly, while Heroes really shines when you have a larger team.

Heroes has the epic Archtype unlocked when you hit 50 with any character.  Villains' epic is currently in development at the moment.

I have both, but I really don't like the dark atmosphere in COV.  It just doesn't look as good to me.  I've never participated in any PVP or anything.  I was hoping COV would have entirely new, unique power sets- wasn't different enough for me.  As much as I really didn't like COV there someone out there that loves it.

I keep coming back to COH, though.  Everything bores me after a period of time, but I always come back to COH.  I just renewd for two months because this was a "Double Experience" weekend (I think next weekend is too).

I did the same thing cheapherk! I get bored leave then come back, rinse and repeat. I think the only scheduled 2xp weekend is 26-28th, I haven't seen any mention of the weekend following but if they see it is doing well maybe it will be a monthly thing.

All the other posts pretty much summed up what the main differences in each game are. One side note, taking superspeed as your only travel power in CoV is a pain in the neck whereas in CoH is a decent power pick because most areas are pretty flat with exception to a couple areas whereas in CoV alot of places are off balanced and tricky to run around. Just my opinion tho. :)

The scheduled double XP weekend is from Friday the 26th through Sunday the 29th.  Friday will start early enough to get the night in, Sunday might end too early for the late night folk to take advantage of it.

Anofalye already made a good post as usual. For me the ATs made a big difference. Brutes are just outright fun to play inspite of their questionable epic powers line. Corrupters are fairly decent too.

Heroes socialize more. Got o Atlas Park on Freedom (or probably any servewr) and you'll see it full with lvl 1 - 50 heroes all dancing, frollocking, and just plain acting gay like you'd expect heroes to do lol. On villain side, the social experience isn't as great (for me), the villains dont really have an area like that to socialize. I guess they sometimes come to that lowbie area on rogue isles? Not nearly as much as heroes though

There's a lot of differences though. I always had both titles myself. Heroes are designed around supporting each other mainly. For instance, defenders get huge teamwork buffs (biggest bonus from Tactics line, etc). right now heroes are still slightly overpowered, they get incredible epics like Focused Accuracy, good bonuses to tactics, defenders still have -40% resist. on my lowbie rad/psi defender I could do great dmg thanks to the -40% debuff.

I think both titles are really cheap my advice is to buy both. I suspect u are trying to figure out which to buy. like some have already hinted, better to just buy both

I've noticed the lack of social events in CoV too.  There are some usually in Port Oakes or Mercy, just not very often.  I think it is due to how the zones are layed out.  Like I said before, Heroes you are going to and from zones a lot, not as much in Villains.  Once you "graduate" from Port Oakes you won't come back often (cept for that one Wretch story arc).

Pocket D has good potential for a social center.  Just wish they would add more stuff to do there outside of Winter Events.
