I LOVE the Combat system. I've always absolutely hated the way MMO's handle combat BUT I've always understood why they did it the way they do.
Something that worries me about this game is that it will be a total sausage fest. Seriously are ANY girls going to be drawn to this MMO? I hope so. I don't think MMO's should be used as a 'dating service' but I simply love the fact about MMO's that people of all sorts from all over come together in another 'world' and any world where there are no women... well damn...
I'll be honest I don't know a huge deal yet but the game looks like the best MMO I've ever seen. Does anyone know if it offers the vast amount of options as Vanguard? Mounts? Player homes? Ships to sail the world with? I haen't heard much about all the game's features, though those things could be implemented later... I'm keeping a close eye on this one THANKS FOR THE VIDEO LINK

The game has mounts and guess what? The actually lean into turns and banks. There will be player houseing and guild cities. Mobs will build cities near yours and try to take over yours. Ships will be in the game but will probably not be player controled like mounts. maybe in a later expansion. Another nice feature regarding combat will be that parties can form combat formations to better deal with groups of mobs.
There will be girls in this game, yes. But unfortunetaly there wont be many of them... In my guild we are about 150 members, and we only have 1 girl... When it comes to mounts, yes there will be mounts. Not dragons, like in Vanguard, but horses, camels and mammoths are mentioned. (Looking forward to the camel-punching
) Player housing has been mentioned by the devs to come in a later patch, so there wont actually be player-homes at the release. Ships I must say I have heard nothing about, but I'm hoping for at least a big ship for travelling between places... So theres that and other features aswell. We have drunken brawling (PvP regardless of levels, where what you drink will affect your stats,) guild-citys and siege PvP to mention some. So yes, vast amounts of options, only better than Vanguard, WoW, Lotro, whathaveyou. And I havent even mentioned the graphics...

I've said it in other threads, but this totally confirms it: this guy is a total fanboi (I think of WAR) and hates on AoC at everyopportunity for no reason, no information he has given has EVER been close to factual!

Actually I follow both, and fanboi would mean that I'm bashing AoC. I haven't bashed them yet. I've voiced my dissapointments in all my posts. I've never said it's going to be a horrible game. The main things I've said about AoC are:1. Great Scenery
2. Graphics seem too steep since there is graphical lag in every video.
3. Combat System seems gimicky
4. Characters seem very lifeless/Animations don't look very good.
4. Devs can't say clearly that there is no Raiding.
I've never ever said it won't be a great game. I think it'll be a fantastic game, but I have my doubts and dissapointments. i've been following AoC since I heard about it, and I loved the ideas that they had, but everytime I see something new, the things I listed above are so blatantly obvious, I can't help to point them out.
So if no information I've ever given has EVER been close to factual, you're going to tell me that in this walkthrough there isn't any lag, and that the faces are moving????
EDIT: You can't even tell me that the Devs have said a clear answer about raiding, since in one of the threads, there's a direct argument with a fan (I think it might have been you, correct me if I"m wrong) about Jayde not giving a direct answer so that you can give everyone else a direct answer.
Fanboi of any game I am not. I plan on playing AoC the same as I plan on playing Vanguard (which I haven't been following very closely) and WAR.

You constantly post crap that has either been clearly refuted by devs, was NEVER even implied, or a quick trip to bymitra.com and doing a dev quote search would disprove, maybe its ignorance rather than malice, but your posts are a TERRIBLE place for information about this game...
And before you try to pull the Fanboi card on me, go over to the AoC forums and ask around, I've flamed the devs up and down for things, and even called an Age of Conan licence writer (the new trilogies they are cranking out) a HACK to his FACE and really got myself in trouble over there cause thats a bit no-no, but the buy wrote nothing but mediocre Star Trek books and a bunch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer serial books so I told him straight up he didn't have the chops to write in Robert E. Howard's Hyboria...
BUT I've also been on those forums since 05 reading every dev post i can get my hands on, and I often go to bymitra.com and do a * (wildcard) search and just read ALL their posts from the latest to the ones I've read before, and you sir, are thoroughly misinformed on a WIDE variety of the mechanics of AoC.
Though, I have certainly noticed a large trend in that reguard around here...
EDIT: yes it was me, but thats cause he got shitty with me cause I was demanding that of him, when I myself already knew the answer, which is the differance between raid drops and the best craft items will be so small as to be inconsequential, and the only thing that mattered to me is PvE drops screwing up PvP, but the PvP gear you buy with bloodcoins will be tuned to PvP and better than any raid drops overall...

I've also never said anything that's been "refuted" by the devs. Everything listed above is opinion, not fact. The FACT is that the Devs have been a little sketchy on the raid issue and another FACT is that they have yet to release any gameplay footage of any PvP. almost 2 years into development and I haven't seen a PvP video. That is pretty shitty for a PvP centered game to only release PvE content to the public.
EDIT: I've also openly criticized the way the Devs handle themselves, which I stated AFTER reading that very thread where Jayde got "shitty" with you. I thought it was pretty shitty myself, and I think you were right to demand what you demanded. I think that if you're going to post in public venues, you should be able to have professionalism no matter what anyone says.

Its open PvP on certain places, (not inside cities), yes, higher levels can "gank" lower levels, but that will put a bounty on their head, and bounty hunters (npcs) will come after them, and that goes for other "crimes" aswell... Unsure about the DP's but I just got the news of AoC's release date. Its been moved to "late october 2007". Crappety crap
OCTOBER? OUCH. That sucks... but I guess that will give them plenty of time to optomize the game and polish it into a true gem - or at least that's what I'm hoping.
I'll agree that while the character customization looks great, thus far all the males look like 'big ugly dumb barbarians'. I'm a fairly fit guy but I do not look like a 'big dumb barbarian' I'm merely athletic and being as vain as I tend to be, I like to create 'myself' in MMO's. I hope I'll be able to do that but again, that's just a matter of vanity hehe.
I'm sure we've all signed up for the beta on the site so I hope to get in that and maybe see some of you guys there. The music from what I've heard is great too and I LOVE the fact that you can choose what you say to NPC's and it affects things as RPG'S do... something I think most MMO's forgot.. you know, that they're role playing games.

If I point out graphical errors, and inconsistencies, that isn't anything anyone can refute, since it's shown in every video.
They can't refute that every video they've put out has graphical lag. And everything else I've said is opinionated. True it might not be the opinion that you agree with, but it's still an opinion, and I'm welcome to state my opinion on a game.
Allow me to restate my opinion on this video without seeming like a "fanboi" or "hater" just for you Sturm.
Ready? Here you go:
I absolutely love the graphics in the game, they look absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything so realistic. Though it seems that with such high graphics that there is evident lag in the videos that I've seen to date. Also in the video they mention that the character's faces will be able to blink and appear to be talking. I was really hoping that it would be displayed in this video, but it wasn't. I personally don't like the animations. They feel stiff to me, but that's my opinion. Others might find them quite life-like. Way to go Funcom. You've made a beautiful game. I just hope that with your delayed release you can improve upon what you've already laid out for us to see. Because I (seeing how I'm the only person that thinks so) really think that there is room for improvement.

checkthis500, I just wanted to say I'm not against you and believe you do have a point. It's an absolutely fair statement. I think where the 'misunderstanding' of you being a basher simply stems from the fact that people whine a lot and sometimes, especially on these forums, people seem to be bashing things just so others will interact with them... it's sad really.
Either way, all I'm saying is you're right there are visible slow downs but that's to be expected, its honestly not even something I would bring up unless this was the launch video - but with 8 months left to go in development, the game is smokin' hot so I'm not worried about a little slow down in a video they decided to share with the world.
I think the best thing is for people to remain very unbiased and open - we're all here for the same reason after all... we just want to play a wicked MMO and share an interest in the future of online gaming.

I was expecting to see concept art of weapons/armor/classes. And they have very little of any of that on their site. I was also expecting to see at least a short PvP video by now as well. And nothing. I just think Funcom is holding too much info away from their fans. I like to really see the meat of a game.
I'm just dissapointed with the amount of info coming out for this game since it's been in development for around 2 years and my posts are starting to bleed of that dissapointment.
Hopefully they'll show something that's actually new and that hasn't been seen before sometime soon, and I'll shut my mouth. I said about 3 or 4 months ago that if they would just show a video of PvP I'd stop being skeptical about that, but still I've seen nothing.
Oh well, call me a troll, but as long as they keep putting out things that are dissapointing, I'll keep complaining.

How with all the in-game video and screenies and other crap can you sit there and say that the only info they have released is words??
Especially with as much info as has been given its certainly a lot of words! FC has been as or more forthcoming of info on AoC as any devs at this stage you are either holding them to an impossible standard or just hating...
And as far as you "never acting like you are doing anything bot stating your opinion", thats bull too cause from the thread about gamepads you said this:
"The surprising thing is that they're actually doing the opposite. They're making the game so that you're almost going to have to buy a Gamepad. With the way the combat system is set up."
Which is just so much crap, in fact Althelan has said some preffer one, some preffer the other, but you have as much control, and more options for interface, using a keyboard!
And the real kicker is the OP of that thread posted an article about SHADOWRUN so NONE of the information in there is pertinent to AoC...

Patience my friends, patience. All good things in time. I know that sucks but that's the reality of it, so better just see everything for what it is and not set yourself up for heartache or disappointment. Let facts speak for themselves and just remember, it's still far away. I've had my ups and downs when it comes to MMO's... in fact, no MMO has made me 'happy' by fulfilling my needs completely. I don't HATE them or the industry, people are working hard and the industry is evolving rapidly. Just imagine where MMO's in ten years will be. Hopefully, with some good creative visionaries, it will enter a serious golden age. Til then, I've learned to 'scout around' as much as possible, try my best in beta's to help developers and just remember, it's just games and no one will force me to pay for anything I don't want to.
This game shows promise but I know there's so much they're holding back. I'm interested. It's on my radar. But does it cause me frustration? Hah... not one bit. I have hopes, but I'm not betting the farm on ANY mmorpg, ever.
