Do they even want new players?

Everything I have read throught there forums and some here make me believe that this game is frustrating as all hell for a new user. It also seems that they did away with a lot of their old users. I am just curious to know, for people they attempted the 14 day trial in the last 4 months...did you subscribe afterwards?

I didn't subscribe mainly because the quests were ridiculous....I'd rather grind (seriously). That and the server I was on was pretty barren of people. Also, I like the idea of a large world, but traveling through so much empty space to get to the next quest or npc was pretty daunting.

Yes I resubscribed a 2nd account I have. And the reason you only hear negative things throughout the forum is because alot of other vets will see it through that they drag the game and soe through the mud every chance they get. What SOE did was UNfair. Alot of people lost alot of hard work and time.  They are going to stop at nothing to payback SOE.

That being said the game is not nearly as bad as many of these people make it out to be.  The population is creeping back up slowly, no where near  the old numbers but it is on the rise regardless.  IMO the majority of the people who post negatively about the game have not even played it  recentley enough to give an honest opinion on it. Again they are just lashing out due to there hatred for SOE and the dissappointment  of losing all of there hard work and good times.

So to judge the game by the forums will not give you a true idea of the game.  I have been playing since Dec '03  on and off and have tried to find a new MMO to play but in all honesty I havent found anything that I like better and I am talking about the NGE here.  Maybe if there is a SWG 2  that will finally tear me away from SWG for good.

I hope everyone finds a game they enjoy and can someday play together again in new SW game.

Until then cheers and best wishes to everyone.

In fairness to those us that don't play, but still critizise, I don't think you need to have played recently to note some of the game's systemic problems.  Certainly, I am not as qualified to speak about what the current population is.  However, as to the games gross deviations from the movies, that hasn't changed.   They haven't suddenly made it so that Jedi are all but extinct, or corrected any of the other glaring conflicts with the movies.  My biggest criticism of SWG, setting aside the issues with its developer, is that its hardly a star wars game.

Everyone has an agenda.  And I recommed the OP to get different opionion.  Old players that fell cheated by SOE have an incentive to steer you away from the game, in an effort to punish SOE.  Current players, assuming they like the game, have an incentive to get you to sign up.  THe more subscribers they can get, the longer they postpose the enivitable server shutdown.   That doesn't mean either side is being dishonest.  As Obi Wan says, a great many things depend on your point of view.  (I'm paraphrasing of course).

Heck, even give the free trial a chance, maybe you will like it.  A few people do.

Polls aren't a good way to form an opinion especially with the NGE haters around.

A vet community acts as an Ambassador for any game. With SWG, the Vet community was washed away like used toilet paper and the game will suffer for it, as long as the game is around.

New accounts to any game encouter Vet populations. They are rich and powerfull players in most game worlds. Established and organized groups that are a force to be reckoned with or an asset to befriend. In SWG, what is left of the Vet community is Imperial Noob haters who would rather screw you out of some unique Item your version of SWG offered you.

Contempt is in game as much as on the forums. If they want new players, the people at SOE need to make ammends with thier original player base. Otherwise, they game is stuck in first gear untill the engine blows up.

I have no idea who you were asking your question? I am and have been hooked on SWG since 01'. I quit playing for a long time because of changes I felt needed to be done something about. After 2 years I started back again. I love SWG! I am having a good time playing my favorite game.

Don't believe every thing that people write. After-all, we all know what opinions are worth. You may love it or not. You will not know unless you at least try it.

Most games offer free trials so that doesn't mean anything as to whether a game is good or bad,

You can't really go with opinions on anything in life, you have to try it for yourself.  What one person  dislikes does not mean that the next will dislike it.
