Stress test this weekend.

Note:  this is not an NDA violation.

Just an fyi, there's a server stress test this weekend with opportunities to win fun things like hardware or a spot in the closed bets.

    Do you know if the client will be up on fileplanet like it was for the Euro stress?

    Honestly, I just got an email for it even though I had signed up on the lotro website about....a year ago maybe.  The regular download is currently hosted by them but is available by bit torrent as well.  Hit their website and see if you can snag an email.

    I'll be trying it out but I'll probably won't buy it because it's totally different than what I wanted when I signed up. Evil vs Good, land take overs and what do we get? All good guys. Well I hope it turns out good for the people that are waiting.

    I beleive I read that if you play 2 hours every day of the stress test (friday-sunday) you get access to beta...but don't quote me on that

    I'm not sure about that, also. I went to the page from the above link looking for information about how to get into this and this is what I read:

     "Finally, Stress Test invitees who participate for at least 2 hours on each day will automatically be eligible to be invited into our Closed Beta in the month of February! "

    It sounds like you are eligible to receive an invite, but not guaranteed.

    I got into the stress test as well and no, I do not believe the NDA has been lifted. Also, there are indeed participation contests. There are prizes other than a beta account, and though I can't remember the details at the moment, I do know that there are 2 (I think) contests that require simple participation (one for the first night, the other for longer-term involvement). There's also a level-up contest.

    I know I wont be happy with it, but I'm going to download it anyways, just to show myself that I dont like it before I go and buy it at the store in a moment of weakness. 

    I remember when MxO came out, I preordered it just so I could play in the beta and reassure myself that I wont enjoy it...  I was right!  It was the best $10 I've ever spent.  If I didnt buy that preorder, I would have ended up getting caught in the hype and buying the full game.  Hopefully this weekend will get LOTRO out of my system...  At least until the Horse expansion...

    Horses will make launch, btw. Rohan, however, should be an expansion and may expand on horse options but as far as owing a horse it should be in at launch.

    I miss today's stress test, but I'm hoping to do tomorrow stress test to see what the game's like.

    the stress test is just 4 the weekend but u can win cool prizes 4 playing 2 hours every day during it. i love this game theres so many thing 2 compliment that im gonna just name 5:

    -awsome classes!

    -killer quests!

    -different beginning [instanced] quest 4 each race!

    -amazing graphics!

    -1 of the best communities i have ever seen!

    i could go on thats just the basics...well im gonna go play it again lol

    Oh!  I didnt realize that.  The last I heard was that they were waiting for the rohan expansion so they can focus carefully on horses, or whatever that non-sense developers always say.  Well, horses in now sorta destroys much chance of the game ever including mounted combat I guess, and probably lessens any chance of good horse implementation.

    I love horses, I'm still waiting for a MMORPG that comes out with some decent horse related content.  I dont even think there are any mmorpgs out now that allow you to change the saddle or the colors on a horse right now.  It is pretty pathetic.    I still have some hope for the rohan expansion though.

    Remember how in the LOTR movies gandalf calls shadowfaux with a whistle?  That reminds me so much of N64, where when you summon your mount, it doesnt POOF appear right next to you.  Why oh why cant another game do that?  It wouldnt even be hard.  It would be an insanely simple, client side script.  Ah well...
