Possible Ac2 relaunch?!

  • I don't know what Turbine was thinking when they cancelled AC2. AC2 was the last great game that I ever played. Everything else seems mediocre compaired to it. Even if Turbine only put up two servers, one normal and one PvP, and only maintained the servers, fixed game breaking issues, and didn't develop any new content, though this would be sad, I would go back in a heatbeat. If they can get 1 or 2 servers up with not spending too much money, I bet alot of people would come back.  I have afew friends, myself incuded, that are still looking for what they had in AC2. None of these new games come close. I'm sick of all this elf, dwarf, troll nonsence. Give me back my Lugian and Tumerok!

I agree 100% with Lazerith.  I would sign up in a second.  I miss playing my defender.

Defender/FI is probably the only fun tank class i ever played../sigh

I still think that  Turbine should contract with Ted Turner and test the game on Gametap. Start with only one PvE server and see if they can hook enough players to make it worthwhile.

I remember main tanking the dillos off of the north portal as well as the mobs in the Boots of lost heroes questline with my AoE juggernaught.

Now if you're a DD in any other and you offer to tank, god help you.

A year later and I still miss good ol' AC2.

    Agree...

AC2 was my first MMO, I flipped a coin between AC2 and DaoC, and boy did I fail!

That game LITERALLY gave me a headache. 3 ugly disingenuous races, NO vendors? WTF! That was a stupid idea! What about people who don't like to craft! Want to know how I got all my equipment? Standing next to a high level crafted and picking up what he threw out... and that is utterly stupid.

The GFX were good, but the gameplay blew, and combat was a boring joke...

I jumped from AC1 to AC2 when it came out.  I was blown away by the graphics, but that was it.  I was bored with the game itself in less than a month and back to good ol' AC1.   At the time, I remember everyone saying they wanted AC1 with AC2 graphics.  Now that would have been a game.

There were vendors in the game for about the last 1+ years. Plus crafted items actually meant something.

some ppl who are putting down ac2 on this forum, only played this game when it was just released. but they don't realize that ac2 evolved and became a much better mmorpg.

I would delete all my crappy  toons on WoW if they brought back this game (AC2). I have thought about trying AC, but the bad feelings I have for Turbine and the way they treated the players of AC2 have kept me from buying the game. The luck that I have with games that I like would be that they would cancle it 2 months after I got it.

AC1 gameplay with the AC2 graphics is what almost every Asherons Call player wanted...

that would have been a dream come true, and it sucks that this won't happen....

    so vanguard is like ac?

AC2 had the most unique character class I've ever seen (so far)...The Lugian Tactician. The Tactician was great at camping by setting up turrets. You then had to pull or aggro mobs into the turrets.
  • BleakmageBleakmage Member UncommonPosts: 186

!!! The music! I had so much fun with that. . .I remember having alot of fun with the game as well. I had a friend that bitched about the tech-tree. . .but as some have said, comparing it to the Grinds of today. . .man. . . I would pay to play that one again. Maybe I can max it the graphics this time, lol.

  • BleakmageBleakmage Member UncommonPosts: 186
Hell, I would pay just to play a non-massive version of the game, you know, let it be revamped with an 'ending' or something, and have it so you could play with your friends like Neverwinter Nights.

I remember those tacticians, with their turrets. :D

My only experience with the game was the trial version or whatever. I was sorely disappointed that it did not live up to its hype though, with the build a community anywhere. . .I remember logging in for the first time and thinking, wow, they've already built an entire city!?! That was disappointing. . .but otherwise. . .especially with all the crap I've played since then. . .besides playing AC1 for awhile again, lol. . .

Surely there are enough of us to warrant opening a single-server experience? A retro-thing for us old-skool gamers? It wouldn't take much to re-market it, and besides, Turbine is going to have to do SOMETHING to keep from dying soon, lol. I don't know if Lord of the Rings is going to be a flop or not, but I'm absolutely certain I'm not going to play it. . .EVER, lol. D&D online could have been better too. . .

I'm downloading Dungeon Runners now. . .maybe that will do it for me. . .

Asheron's Call was the shit, for the first two years or so anyway, back when they had alot of Digital Actor action going on. . .it's static now, just like everything else. . . I don't know how anyone played Everquest 1 without falling asleep. . .lol 2 isn't so bad, but it isn't so great, either. . . I just recently played the 10 bucks version of Lineage II. . .ugh. . .

Lets face it. If you have taste, and you're an old skool gamer. . .then the modern MMORPGs are not for you. . .~sigh~

I'll keep looking though. And if they come out with AC2 again, I'll be there in a heartbeat. :D Why? Well, AC1 in it's heyday was still better, but I got burnt out on that.

Maybe if enough people sign that petion??? You never really know, until you do. :D

I think the only hope is if Turbine decided to release an All Access pass for it's games and then could bring back AC2 to include that in it. Other than that I think there is very little chance, sadly.

Bingo. That is what they should do. LOTR, AC, AC2 for a single sub.

Turbine would bring back many players.

I agree as well. Just open up an AC2 server and don't develop it just fix any bugs or exploits that come up. I'd settle for that easily.

I love being able to run up to someone and 2 shot them. I think people thought AC2 sucked, not realizing that it would be better than anything released in the future. People said it was a grind, and that once you capped out all you could do is do the same quests over and over but then wtf is WoW? I honestly thought grinding in AC2 was kind of fun, probably because of the classes and skill sets. It was just fun to own.

AC2 had a lvl cap set to 150.  No one ever made it much past 90ish until close to the end when the devs started dropping xp eggs
I agree nothing out now or out soon comes close to what AC2 had.  Charters you could totally customize....height...fat ...skinny...9 or so hair styles/color...same for facial hair for guys...several skin colors with lighter and darker shades....some even had tats... Solo quest, solo content, loads of high lvl and low lvl content....large group quests, small group quests, 4 races ......3 unique to AC ( not the human, dwarf, elf crap we have all played since the Atari days ), 3 classes with 2 sub classes each with all unique race skills/spells…Not cookie cutter skills/spells…..  We had weather, day and night cycles.  WTF how did turdbine jack it up????...Man I am getting all spun up again
Even the grind was fun I looked forward to each and every gauntlet run wondering if today was going to be the day I beat that dam Chaos Wisp.  After reaching lvl 79 it was no longer an issue but there were other things to do by then...There was always something different to do each day because of the timers on the quests
Ok I am done.  I totally forgot what my point was….
    EDIT:
They did remove the damage and heal nurf when they added the optional pvp flag on all servers...pvp anyplace anytime...no safe zones
This is why now would be the time to relaunch... many are getting tired of the current pvp systems and leaving games in search of the type of pvp AC2 offered.
It was a game that allowed full experience in both pvp and pve.  You could solo/fellow/raid, there was always something to do or see.
the skill trees, the professions, and the game overall would be very attractive to many players tired of the "cookie cutter" games/characters
there is an active petition and many active boards all asking for the game to return.  I read a post with statistics that showed AC2 had double the subscriber of AC1 when they decided to shut it down, why? no one know but Turbine.
I really miss my musical instruments, my lasher, and my tumy :-(   as many others, AC2 was the one game I loved and dearly miss, I have tried others and they were a frustrating grind and imbalanced, you didn't have true options to do both pvp/pve, you didn't have the real freedom to choose skill trees, you had to choose one for pvp and one for pve, plus the respeccing cost and gear changes.

they threw their workers on DDO and LOTR because of their familarity with the engine, and it paid off for them.

I think we're very near the only feasible time for 2 years for an AC2 relaunch, because the MMO genre is stale, wow isolates players rather than brings them together because their game systems (pvp and raid) do not complement each other, and we're fairly distant from the AoC/Warhammer releases (don't get your hopes up for the May AoC, maybe September?), and there is no WoW expansion in site, and their also delaying their content at a snail's pace.

The Legions Ac2 has pve, pvp, and crafting all intertwined in a way that everyone can enjoy, and I think that can be exploited now, compared to in the past when it could not be because of reputatoin and perceived lack of original game polish.

Ac2 is hotter than it has been in years, and it is really developing a following again, and this is a great thing to see.

If  they make a payment model so you can start playing lotr or ac or even maybe ac2 with gamecard, thats for all there games i would play ac(or ac2).

But maybe better to make ac2 a f2p game and make a busines model where you can buy ingame items in shop like many other mmo's today do, Archlord,Fury they where first p2p and now free to dl and free to play.

Im positive when ac2 is free to play many will play it.

    Yup, hello!

  • KordeshKordesh Member Posts: 1,715

You know, I never really got into AC2 when it released, but I played for a short time in beta, and honestly, had it stuck around, I probably would have eventually because from what little I played, I actually really liked in retrospect. I've always like the "style" of Asherons Call. I miss the AC launch/beta days )=

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

This was a screenshot posted on the ac2vault forums.   Probably a fake photoshoped pic but maybe they put up a classic server for people to play?

The link you show was ign website where at time when ac2 was still up, most ac2 players go to, specially forums.
