This goes for every other fanboys who feel need to lie just to justify the game. http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/thread/112753 ( Thanks to End_of_an_Era, here is their thread on these forums that links to a UK Gamespot preview/interview regarding Player vs Monster Player combat which certainly isn't Monster Rancher or Battlegrounds)

The link doesn't work and I got info about PvMP from the official boards. Even they are saying PvMP is a Battlegrounds.

Sorry about the link. You can still find the thread on the first page of these forums. I'm sure the link in that post works as I used it not an hour ago. As for the Battlegrounds reference, I guess there is no right answer. Some people can feel it is like it and others don't. As it is impossible for everyone to feel the exact same way about a feature, both are either right or wrong. *shrug*Are you talking about this link?

From this description, PvMP isn't PvP at all, but it sounds more like PvMP = Horde. Since Turbine didn't add evil factions, they are trying to be slick and adding Monster mission as attempt to add faction, but it's the same thing as playing the Horde from WoW except the gaming experience for opposing faction group is very limited. Wouldn't it make sense to allow players to play those races for free without having to buy them? By this description, PvMP isn't a new idea.

Lastera, do you even know why they didnt add evil factions?  Because it isn't part of the lore.

So I imagine Aargon was fighting invisible enemies and that Sauron was figment of everyone's imagination.

Have you read the books ( and im not talking about the movies).

I have both the book and the movies.

You didn't often see orcs go "pwn" some Hobbits in the shire.  Also playing the evil race as a normal character  wouldn't do the books any justice to, considering many of the orc's and other "evil races" only answered to Sauron and were Sauron's slaves. Only "evil race" that might be able to work is the men of the east, or Haridrim.

Wait a minute, it's not okay not to include evil factions, but it's okay for thousands of dwarves, elves human and hobbits to participate in the destruction of the ring. If I'm not mistaken, only 9 people: 2 humans, 1 superhuman, 1 dwarf, 1 elf and 4 hobbits were the only ones who were involved in this journey. And speaking of lore, during this time line, no other hobbit or dwarf parcipating in any of these events. So if you want to talk about doing the books justice then a LotR MMORPG isn't doing it any favors. Keep your fanatic lectures to yourself.

The PvMP is a last minute idea implemented by Turbine they forgot to put in evil factions from the start and that evil was huge factor in this story as was good.

Damn....  What a waste of space...

Oh, the dichotomy of which your words could apply. LOL. Bonus points and beer for you!

Lastera, aren't you still having fun playing WoW? If so, why are you trolling this forum. Don't worry. LoTRO will be popular, but WoW will be around for a long time. There are plenty of gamers out there to support more than one MMORPG. I don't understand why people feel the need to bash a game if they have no interest in it. There is something there. I don't know if it's jealousy, fear, or what, but there's something else going on below the surface.

I played WoW for 2 years and finally got so bored that I quit. Not once did I post a negative comment in any WoW forum about why I was quitting. What is the point? People are going to play the games they want to play and make up their own minds.

Thankfully, not everybody is the same. What sounds like music to you may sound like an orc roasting on a spit to somebody else.

If you want to be OMG!!1 l33t and get a thrill out of PvP then play WoW or Warhammer.

If the other games out there are so perfect then why do you care so much about this one?

I don't know why you are simile because that wasn't simile he made. A simile is when you compare one subject with another subject and they have words "as," or "like" that connect them. Both of you just showed the whole board you lack the knowledge of how to properly use English grammar.

Nope, and nice try in trying to cover up your lack of understand of English grammar. A simile is connected by the words "as" or "like," neither word you use in your sentence.

My husband's friend, who is looking over my shoulder and is in college, has agree that wasn't simile. He believes your sentence was an attempt at a metaphor.

I couldn't agree more. I found myself doing stress test than playing Vanguard. I am very much enjoying this weekend.

http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/thread/112753 ( Thanks to End_of_an_Era, here is their thread on these forums that links to a UK Gamespot preview/interview regarding Player vs Monster Player combat which certainly isn't Monster Rancher or Battlegrounds)

Dichotomy, huh.  I truly respect someone with a grasp of the English language my friend!  So you liked the sarcastic simile.

Make it Heinekin and I'll share one with ya

Pass the drink and toast Crispins and a happy few we will continue! Huzzah!

I don't know why you are simile because that wasn't simile he made. A simile is when you compare one subject with another subject and they have words "as," or "like" that connect them. Both of you just showed the whole board you lack the knowledge of how to properly use English grammar.  Oh no, my whiny little friend how wrong you are.  My intention was spot on and Khalathwyr saw it for what it was.

No, I'm afraid bezee is exactly right. Maybe your husban'ds friend who is in college should navigate to dictionary.com and look up the word dichotomy and then compare it in reference to beezee's statement. As he/she is in college they should be able to to draw the correlation of the usage fairly quickly. Though, any lout with money can get into college, so maybe I assume too much. It wasn't a similie, a metaphor or anything you are trying to label it as. It was a gracious beauty and something that I have seen in posts with those you debate with often but seems to fly over your head with the speed of a 747: biting wit.

Amazing, from talking about games to high school English. I offer, let us evaluate this sentence:

"Nope, and nice try in trying to cover up your lack of understand of English grammar. "

But I digress. My apologies to the moderators and to the OP of this thread.

What kills me, is here we are arguing semantics and she's not even disputing the fact she's a waste of space.

Oh and by the way have you or college boy look up in a Thesaurus "simile"

    I'm done here...

Well, I dunno what this whole conversation in this thread is about, Im not even going to read it.   Let me say though, I am trying the stress test weekend of LOTRo and I am very pleasently surprised.  I had pretty low expectations but I am finding myself having plenty of fun now that I am trying the game.  The classes seem unique and interesting to me, most of the quests are WoW like but there are some instances that seem very entertaining and amazing, and the other players seem very friendly, the game masters are on the job well, and I am especially enjoying the musical instruments, where different notes are assigned to each keys so you can make up songs and such, sorta like in Zelda: OoT or I think they said AC2 had this too.

I said the game masters are on the job because I originally created a character named legoolas!  I know, terrible arent I?  I thought it would be funny to see if the name was taken or not, and it wasnt, but then 20 minutes into the game, I got a message from a game master, and he asked me to choose a new name.  I told him Wormy, and tada, he switched it for me.  I didnt even have to exit the game or anything.  It was fast and easy, and it was only a bit after that when I stopped treating the game like WoW with hobbits and started realizing that it will probably turn out pretty decent!  Heres to hoping, but  I dont think we have to hope so much anymore now.  Depending how I feel about it in the future, I might buy LOTRo.

Unfortunately for Turbine, they cannot just worry about what would be fun.  If that were true, they would have included evil races, playable wizards, and many other things.  However, they have to stay as true to the lore as possible.  The evil races of Middle Earth simply don't work very well as fully playable races.  No social infrastructure, like money, banks or auction houses.  Most of them are practically slaves.  And wizards, well, there were only 5 of them, and we can name them all.  So you cannot have a thousand wizard  players running around.

My point is, what kind of MMO do you want?  Just another generic fantasy setting?  Or do you want to play in Middle Earth?  If you chose the latter, then you must remember that ME has specific rules to how things work, and a well astablished lore.  Fans of Lord of the Rings will know what's been compromised, and will lash out at anything that is too false.

That is what binds Turbine from making a "better" game.  I think that it will be a good game.  I just think that too many options for gameplay are negated by the setting.  LotRO probably not make much of a splash in the MMO pool.  Maybe 200,000 subscribers.

    Seriously.
