If you don't, you are dog food to any person who comes across you fighting a mob and has an inclination to gank you... some1 to watch your back is recommended. But all in all it was a good day.
Oh, i agree... but when you get killed in HZ, at bindpoint and all... it gets very frustrating.  Team PVP is just a bit smoother.

It went as well as could be expected.  Better than what I remember from wow day 1.  I just wish my new rig were here.

The first day was really great for me, I thought there would of been more issues,  Performance has been improved greatly also

I'm really enjoying myself.  My framerates arent great, but Im not having any lag issues. I have managed to break a few quests, the 2nd be more serious as its preventing me from becoming an artificers.  (had a tech support person working on it with me just a few minutes ago when the world servers suddenly went down..sigh)

The quests have been fun, I love the diplomacy game.... and even harvesting has been challenging.

Sure, there's a few glitchy things... but so far so good.  Now, when everyone else joins in next week we'll have to see how it goes, since there were actually servers that were full/locked last night ..... hope that was by design and they hadn't actually run out of room already...

You get bored of a game after 30 minutes... you sure you like MMORPGs? I don't know a single one (including WoW) that isn't the same repetitive "make sure newbs can play" crap for the first hour or so of gameplay. Hell AoC (which you seem to have big hopes for) has 20 levels of making sure you're not newb. Say what you want about storyline 20 solo levels is pretty lame.

VG starts getting good at level 10. If you can't spare the time to get there why are you still posting here?

In other words once again..Sony did not make or produce tthe game. They are a 3rd party partner in doing very basic things.

I'm enjoying vg and having fun but only because i want to get to the next lvl. The gameplay itself is just like alot of other mmorpgs. I know what you mean by 'not enough depth'. Vg would take years longer to add the depth tho. Look at sp games with loads of depth, there always really short.

Well my first day went very well, even though I didnt get as much done as I would of liked but that was because of the kids wanting to do things. I took work off on Friday just for the opportunity to get onto the game and get my characters set up because I figured there would be problems with them getting it going so I didnt expect to do much more.

I think they did a GREAT job getting things up and running and it was probably the smoothest start of any MMO I have played to date. Granted it isnt the actual first day of live but it does show that this DEV team is really working hard on this game and they should be proud of it. I am in my second day and have taken so many pictures already, I havent run into any bugs so far and even if I did I dont think it would affect the great time I am having right now.

I look forward to many years of this game.. I have found my new home for sure!!

did you actually READ the link? IT proves YOU are wrong.

The relevant parts were talking about Sigil buying back pub rights from Microsoft, their original publisher, and going with SoE for publishing. Oh, and it also specified what control Sigil would have over the game from that point on... i.e., SoE is hosting/billing Sigil owns the game, made the game, continues to develop the game...

Actually, Sigil created the game, Microsoft was supposed to be the publisher. It was to be the big title for Xbox and Vista. When it was realized the game could not be run on Xbox and may not be ready for Vista Microsoft quit. Sigil went to SOE for support just like they did before with EQ1. I know I beta tested that too. Sigil ran out of money so SOE gave them more money and some peeps from EQ2 for art and whatnot. This helped but it wasn't good enough so SOE gave them 12 Devs from the EQ2 team for the last two weeks so the game would be almost ready for Retail.

Truth Sigil owes SOE a ton of money and other investors. Just like EQ1 SOE will make them a deal and take it over in a matter of a couple of months. The new SOE forums will have a vanguard area.

you people never stop do you.. ITS SIGIL's GAME.. this has been explained by Brad himself along with so many others and yet we still have forum posters that try anything to say different. To be honest I dont care anymore because I am enjoying the game and guess what!? If SOE did help make it then kudos to them for finally doing something right

    Huh?

Soe didn't create vanguard. The main ppl that created vg did at one time work for soe. Some of the new devs at sigil after the deal with soe did go to help on vg.

    quote from your link

'Under the terms of the agreement, SOE will provide distribution, marketing, hosting and back-end support -- including billing and technical support -- for the game. Additionally, SOE is tentatively planning on adding Vanguard, upon its release, to SOE’s Station Access™ subscription plan. Station Access allows players to enjoy all of SOE’s MMO titles for one low monthly price. '

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Read this from the article you linked RW:

It plainly states you are wrong.
    • As co-publisher of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil assumes greater control of marketing and PR, while maintaining responsibility for game development, community relations, media relations, customer support, and quality assurance. Under the terms of the agreement, SOE will provide distribution, marketing, hosting and back-end support
By the way, This is an awesome release, and the people actually playing it are having fun. By actualy I mean more than 30 minutes.

How does that prove me wrong. It proves me right. You don't think marketing the agme effects the gameplay? They market the game based on gameplay and change gameplay to meet the market. SOny tells segil hey your game si great but i fyou add this you will get x amount more subscribers. Trust me you don't have any education in business whatsover. That quote above implicitely states that sigil was with microsoft but microsoft didn't want to make the game so they went with sony, kind of like a second choice prize winner to help them out. Be honest to yourself. COPRODUCE means 50/50 in the business world. Yes seigil owns the rights, but not until it's binding contract with soe is over. Besides even though rpoduction started before sony picked it up since sony has picked it up many new features have been added.

Either way I'm still right till you can find an article that refutes the evidence of sony playing aHUGE roll int he making of vangaurd. I say they made vangaurd because if there is no sony there is no vangaurd, now that's not necessarily true with sigil. If there is no sigil sony buys the rights to vangaurd and puts it out on it's multi million dollar infrastracture. If  it were the other way around sigil woul dhave to find a knew producer for it's game.

In other words no the quote you wrote doesn't prove me wrong. It proves me right. I just ask honest and sincerity please and truth.

In other words sigil CREATED vangaurd, but sony MADE it.
  • roadwarriorsroadwarriors Member Posts: 218

I further deduce that a wow vs vangaurd discussion is actually a blizzard vs. sony discussion and that blizzard is infact the underdawg.  BTW the article i posted states indirectly that sony load large amounts of money to sigil int eh form of assets.

I know exactly what i'm talking about

education for the free man not education for the white devil.

Media relations = Sony decides what magazines can review the game. This isn't part o fmaking a game? Deciding who can use it?
  • roadwarriorsroadwarriors Member Posts: 218
TSony also provides 100 percent of the bandwith? Woudl beta testing be possible without bandwith? Can an mmorpg be made without bandwith? They also decide server capacity and location. An mmorpg is more than the software.

Is it inconcievable that Sony and Sigil are really the same company and taht sigil is a dummy company for tax benefits. It's actually the case we learned in accy 670 acuarial accounting for game development systems at mit.
