"We all agree performance is #1 -- we expect to see about a 10% improvement by launch for low-mid level machines. There's only so much we can do in the time we have.
We don't want to rush things but like I said we have a solid launch date. People are crunching and working long hours but the financial reality is we need to lauch commercially, and soon."
Which means.. its coming out fast and it will be bug ridden.
"At this point one house. When we later implement player run cities and different types of buildings (commercial, industrial, residential) that will likely change"
"Smed has done EVERYTHING possible to give us as much time and money and support that he can. The reality is that SOE is under Sony Pictures and there are financial realities and the game must be released and go commercial at some point, and it is soon (we'll be announcing the launch date in the next week or so)."
There are some things I'm not pleased with. I'm only level 8 but I've already come across two quests with MAJOR bugs. These are quests located in a starting area. It's inexcusable, and you know these bugs were encountered in beta...
SOE and Sigil are different entites - Sigil designed and built most of the game, SOE was able to support it in the late stages, helping it to become active on target. Supporting the game the way they have means they did not build the core program - They just helped them finish it off and manage the other aspects mentioned above. If you read the notice, Sigil will continue to develop the game conent etc.
Many feel that SOE are bad based on past dealings - but meh - we all LEARN! I really doubt that SOE would repeat the same mistakes as it did on SWG. When a company does something wrong, things are "usually" put in place to prevent it happening again. That makes me feel fairly confident in SOE handling the part they do on this game. Of course though, I may be wrong, but at the end of the day nobody knows what will happen until it happens. Life is all about risks - if you like the game, its probably worth the risk, if you don't like the game, leave it alone and find a game you do like.
Also, just to comment on what someone else mentioned earlier about the future of Sony being not so good... Sony is still a massive monster company with their fingers in more than one pie. Yes they could take a big hit if the PS3 fails, but at the end of the day, the Sony products they make such as electronics (tv's, sound systems etc) seem to be doing fine, and of course they own a lot of the distribtion of things like music (kinda waffling but you get the idea). In other words, don't count Sony out of the game just yet :P
I have played this game from the end of Beta and I am looking forward to joining many of you online soon (my pre-order from Amazon won't arrive until next week and I got no pre-order box thingy... poor me). I never found the game boring up to level 13, but I never got around to grouping all that much because I was still just exploring the world and what I was doing. I plan to play as a Pally and I tell you something - from the interviews I read I really learned how I "should" be playing that class - and I am sure groups will love me
Also, once guilds are properly sorted out (may take a few weeks for the majority to get fully established) grouping will become a lot more common I would say.
not for me so far. 20 fps at the best starting out around other people just isnt entertaining for me. it has potential for sure, but until i can get a smooth performance i'm not going to purchase.

New:
1) are you talking about beta? It's just that if you are playing now it should mean you already pre-ordered the game? Though not sure how things work with the SOE station pass thingy.
2) Do your system specs match the requirements (or reco even better) and have you got the settings on too high of a level?
Just figured that since most people are getting much better performance, maybe something is hindering you? Maybe even those evil anti-virus programs lol - they tend to cause a lot of havoc
You havn't seen any bugs? Lol, i saw nothing but problems.
you dont even play the game , you did nothing but bash it through open beta and now you exspect us to believe you bought pre-order. All's you have to do is go to the WOW forums and your whiny little posts are all over it. Do you really think respec cost are to high get out of these forums if all,s your going to do is lie and whine i agree with you swede, good on you for calling him out .

Basically it comes down to this. It doesn't matter if this game is gonna be owned by sony or not. Overall the game is good and will get better as time goes on.
It will end up much like EQ2 overall. I say that becuase not too many are gonna have the comp to fully enjoy the game and overall it much the same type of MMO.

Drennor-- i'm talking today. i bought the pre-order box from best buy for $10 and i would have to make the full purchase on the 30th to continue playing.
i have an Inspiron XPS laptop that i play everything on max level. WoW and more recently EvE. I don't think my specs are that far off, if at all. but this baby cost like 4 grand 2 years ago so i'm not willing to give up on her yet!
I played VG on the lowest res, did the .ini settings, etc. i'm sure its just my computer but o'well.
Pentium 4, 3.40 GHz
1 GB Ram
ATI Radeon 9800
I suppose more RAM would help but i think i'll wait for a game to blow me away before upgrading.
Thats a lot of money you spent and I can appreciate why you dont want to give up on it just yet!
My processor is only 3.6, so I don't think that would be too much concern. Upgrading the RAM should see improved performance for sure - and it would also speed up your laptop for other things too - not a bad thing but I don't know too much about laptop RAM - maybe its really expensive!
The video card to mee sounds a little dated - I assume its pre- X-series of the ATI (I used to keep up to date on cards a few years ago but gave up) Mine isn't exactly a new one (X-700) but it still does the trick. As you say, things like EVE and WOW will run fine on it, but they are not too heavy on graphics requirements - someone pointed out that EVE is restricted by the TnL that was used around the time of the Geforce 2 - but since the worked hard it got some great effects. This game however is using more modern technology and would use up more processing power on your graphics card.
If I was into serious gaming, I would much prefer to use a PC (which I do) than a laptop given that it performs much better but it also helps that I have space for my PC and don't have to use it for anything else. Plus PC's are much cheaper than laptops in terms of power output.
End of the day if your machine doens't run it very well I can understand why you wouldn't want to continue playing it. Maybe as you play other new games they will either work or they will have same problems. IF all the new games coming out cause you problems, maybe that will be a sign to buy a base unit
That said, have fun on whatever game you settle on

This is to answer if Sony gave Sigil money. These links were from Brad quotes.
This is one of my earlier posts
