Am I playing DAOC?

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
The gfx look like daoc to me, mind you the spell fx in that where better! I mean my god they suck at the moment.

I see Doac so much in this game, which i must say ain't a bad thing, the wiz fireball fx in daoc have yet to be beaten in any game.

Buggy as hell, as expected tho, but on the whole promising, even if its a daoc ripoff gfx wise.

    You must be playing on High performance then.  Daoc looks like total crap compared to Vanguard on highest quality with native monitor resolution. The spell animations need a little work, but they do the trick and fit with the setting.

    From what I see, the only thing I see that's prettier in Daoc are the spell effects...anything else in Van tops Daoc, graphic wise.

    Hmm this thread reminds me of the gnarls barkely song ...... CRAZY wtf dont even compare the graphics in daoc to that of vanguard you HAVENT played vanguard if you honestly believe that daoc are as good or you playing on high preformance (bad graphics) i have it set to balanced and im LOVING every minute of this game. Honestly its like when i played soh sov, mox, wow and swg pre cu and nge i was wishing for something like this LUSH OPEN WORLD with TONS of quest and its actually fun to group! i usually HATE grouping which is why i stopped playing soh. 



    Ps I DONT CARE WHAT YOU SAY i havent had this much fun with my pants on

    If you had said the graphics were like UO you would have only sounded marginally more crazy...

     Ill have to agree it looks alot like DAoC to me also.  I wish it had an end game like DAoC but time will tell. All in all i think its a pretty good game if its what your looking for, mysell im really looking for a war type end game thats not based on high end loot raids.

    searching for the next DAoC....

    I can only judge by in-game footage I've seen, but I can understand the comparison. Something about the landscape style reminds me of DAOC, also. Not the quality of the graphics, but the artistic style.

    As for spell effects, well, DAOC's artists really outdid themselves, especially considering they're still ahead of so many more recent games, with much higher hardware requirements.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    Nothing will ever compare to been on a relic raid or been in darkness Falls when you know there was a pack of max level enemies in there with you, talk about paranoid  . Havent played it for so long it was before they redid there graphics so i dont see a comparision myself

    ITs not the Grafics quality that reminds me of DAoC just the over all looks and feel of the game  Weapons etc. VGs grafics are more superior then DAoC.

      I played it on the highest settings by the way  I have an Nvidia 7900

    searching for the next DAoC....

    Comparing this game to DAoC is about the most ridiculous thing I have seen yet. DAoC was a RvR game and designed that way from the start, this game was designed as a PvE and at the last minute a couple of flags were switched to make it a half ass PvP game so they could try and sell a couple more boxes. That is Vanguards main problem, they can't figure out what to focus on so everything ended up half ass.

    I miss DAoC

    I see some similarities between DAOC and VG, and in one interview they even said they were trying to make VG for some of the old school DAOC and EQ players-and you know what? I LOVE IT

    One spell effect in particular that is like identical is the Sorcerer's pbaoe spell(forget the names) in VG and the ice Wizards pboae spell in DAOC, check it out.
