Returning to Eve-online.

Hello community.

Downloading the Eve client again and have a few questions. Last time I played there was some incredibly large focus on corporation- wars and pvp. So my question is therefore; same old or has it changed somewhat. I also se that they have changed the amount of skillpoints you aquire when making a new char. Is it possible to get the learning skills from the start? Asking beacuse my main character is pretty gimped beyond help and I was thinking of a fresh start. Lastly, is the new regions already occupied by huge alliances or somewhat empty? Maybe some old ones have opened up.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

I've toyed with going back again myself.  I've done two trials in the past two months...  :p

After doing that I am pretty sure that regardless of how gimped that I feel my old main is - I'm going to reactivate my old account rather than start fresh.  Unless you are talking about your stats then a character is never actually "gimped" because you can choose any training path that you want at any time.  That's just my opinion though.

As far as what is currently happening in game i'd recommend reading the official forums for that info instead of here.

The learning skills your new char get are based on the School's that you choose (Military/Business/Industrial) where you will get a IV and a II in whatever the primary skills are for that school.  Military, for example, will give you either Spatial Awareness IV and Iron Will II or vice versa depending on your choice of Special Ops or Soldier.  I do not think there is a way to start with more learning skills than that.  I think all characters also get Learning I by default as well.

    Hey there,

Good to hear you're coming back. Here's to answer your questions:

    1) Yes the focus is as always on PvP between corporations and alliances, but of course PvP isn't just combat...

    2) There have been several changes to learning skills. First of all you can gain some of them through the initial character creation, and secondly the advanced learning skills now no longer require the initial ones to be at lvl 5, but rather at lvl 4.

    3) The new regions have NPC drones which do not yield any bounty reward as ISK but rather loot in the form of refineable alloys that give minerals. This means that there isn't yet as much of an incentive to colonise the regions, however at least 4 new alliances have already formed claiming i'd say about half of the new regions.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the response. About my "gimp" character. I think it's mostly beacuse he is near 2-3 years old and with skills of a 3 month old char (somewhere around 3-4m sp or so). Just feels weird using him since I can't live up to his age :). Maybe it's just all in my head but it feels like most people in eve judge others by looking at the char age.

Anyhow thanks for the response again, cleared some things up.

Remember, all it means is you can scare people away most of the time by appearing to be better than you really are ;)

I was thinking the same thing!  cenpus should have a real psychological advantage in PvP!

Of course, that might work against crappy PvPers, and there are a lot of them.

But it is not the serious PVP'ers you worry about it is the Crappy Blob and solo people aiming for an easy target. And those run when they see character age. One of my friends has a industrial Character, about 9 months old, who can only fly up to a cruiser and people tend to leave him alone and my poor 2 month Character is alwasy attacked.

If you never really had much attachment to your old character, it could be worth your while to start over.  First of all, you'll be able to start with many more skill points (~800,000) allocated in ways dictated by the choices you make at creation.  It's quite possible to start out with some skills already trained to levels 4 and 5.

Of course, you can reactivate your old account, start a new character and wait and see if you want to play the old one later down the line.
