Good lord this forum has died - almost as dead as SWG is now.  Used to be rather active.  One way to "control" an unruly forum mob, I suppose.  <insert rant #43 about "how good SWG used to be and how bad it is now" here>

    yeah the forum mods around here got real pro SOE and has a double standard for posting on the  2 swg forums thats not equal or fair.. most pleople left for other places, it seems.

    i only come around once every month or so now mainly because MMORPG lost my respect , i dont even read the front page or place value in anything on this site anymore.

    Seems alot of folks feel the same way

      This site was my first entry into MMO forums so in a way it holds a special place within me, but I've become very disappointed in the way they chose to split the SWG forum in two. I'm also not happy with the modding from the forum cops and finally, yes....we all moved to a different location hence the dramatic drop in posts and general activity.

    Adn yet I have been able to post freely or at least un - MODed for the most part lol.

    Sure I have been warned for some stuff, but still.....  Look even they know how bad and how this turned out... it's hard for anyone to put a bag over thier head and claim ignorance at this stage.

    Funny, I don't seen even Obriaks posts much any more defending it lol.

    Kinda funny.

    I think Obi post mostly at the other site now with the rest of us. Still defends SOE, but he definitley make for a more lively debate. Anyone is welcome to join over there as long as they dont use insults to other members as a way to bolster their arguments. Even if Smed would join...no one could attack him personally, or insult him intentionally.

    I dont think they would ban you for mentioning the name, but advertising it, or telling people to go there instead of here..then ya. I dont see why they would ban you for linking a post made by koster over there. It would be know different than linking a post made by smed on foh forums. Of coarse alot people were bashing this site as they went over to the other, so it might be a differnet situation.

    This forum has lost it's value which is why it's dead. The moderators have only themselves to blame.

    I dunno. I did advertise the site once, and I got a warning. Then I mentioned the site in another conversation, I think it was to explain something, and I got IP banned for about a month. They wouldn't answer my e-mails or even explain why they did it, so I'm just assuming this was the reason. Then they told everyone to take the site's address off of their sigs.



    Well, it worked out for the best. We've got something good going on over there. We're getting the other half of the site (news, interviews, and columns) set up pretty soon and we've managed to draw in a lot of cool people (including Mr. Koster himself). So, we're not holding any grudges.

    well what above forementioned might very well be true, but lets be honest with one another, how long can we beat a dead horse? $OE knows what they did wrong, they know what their fans want but alas they wont give it and the only thing we can hope for is a SWG2 by another company. blah.

    Well MMORPG.com staff, do you think it was worth running off so many of the MMORPG.com vets in the final analysis?  Is this really the standard of quality and community you aspire to?

    My main problem with that "other place" is that you need approval from some guy with a tan he got from a computer monitor to even view whats there.  



    The only sites like that that I sign up for have naked ladies in them.



    So until they make it so anyone can at least view everything, I'll continue to lurk around here.    The vancrap section of this site is always amusing, even if the swg part is more or less dead.

    woops on a little side note. I wanted to know what game everyone has gone to from SWG. personally im waiting for gods and heroes even though its by the dark side. I still enjoy their games except for SWG

    I don't post over there but if Smed did I'd join up and get baned for using insulting language all in the one day

    I post in the Current section and browse this section every few days.  Iskareot doesn't see me replying to him because I have him blocked since most of the stuff he posts is the same thing each time   Nice new feature of the upgraded forums here.

    Wow I just read this thread and then checked the  times of the last posts.

    Damn that looks pretty bad compared to how fast the posts used to move. I can see why they have to play the corporate game and make sure they don't pi$$ off the game developers who supply the advertising revenue, but when it gets to the point where all the subscribers jump ship to somewhere they can express an opinion then something is severely wrong.

    Shame we couldn't find a middle ground that posters and MMORPG.com could be happy with, we should have been able to type the word e*u without causing a problem here for instance. All people want to do is discuss issues openly without having to limit the scope of your arguement just in case you fall foul of the mods.

     

    Discussion forums are just that, a place where you can openly discuss and hear arguements for and against.

     

    It's a damned shame mmorpg.com, do you hear me? A damned shame, this place used to be cool.

    Yep it's still dead nearly three hours later, no posts.

    Hell even WoW forum is dead too, I now declare MMORPG.com dead (well at least as dead as NGE).

    Yeah just shows you, $OE P's off their customers and they have a mass exodus, now mmorpg do the same thing and funnily enough there main loyal customers go elsewhere. Hmmm a pattern has emerged, don't piss off your loyal customers because they will just do there talking with there feet, in other words walk away from that product, in SOE's case SWG NGEcrapfest and now the mmorpg boards. A business is  nothing without customers, or severely reduced amount.

    I'll get round to registering on the boards that must not be mentioned soon, and do my usual lurking.

    Yep, I'm there when I can.

    I did have some odd login issues at first but all seems well.  I post there time to time with my newb title... kinda hard to be labled as a newb to slamming the NGE though lol...

    Been at it so long that people know you from doing that....   Sad yes, makes me mad it came to this though.

    You're thinking of our private forums. At the moment, we've got fourteen active public forums, and three private. We don't allow regular members to view the private forums, because they're just that -private.



    This is so we can make sure that those boards aren't filled with posters who constantly feel the need to "bring it on down". When a member proves that they know how to discuss a topic, and can respect their fellow posters, they're allowed to see the... meatier information.



    And, rest assured, our bronzed skin moderating team aren't the only ones that are giving out access to new members. Any private member on our forums can sponsor someone.



    The precautions might sound a little overboard, but it's necessary to protect our posters and their sources.

    I am one of the mods there, and I can assure you, that while genuine flame wars and personal attacks WILL be dealt with, the moderating style is NOTHING like the suckboards or what has happened with this board.

    You are free to discuss anything you like so long as you respect those around you.

    Our staff aren't an arrogant bunch of condescending jerks like the current "Senate" of SWG.

    (indeed, an ex Senator is actually on the staff)
