I was one of the few who posted here and decided it better for me to wait a month or two to get vanguard and let them iron things out. How are the servers populated enough? Hows the community? Is it running better? Anything diffrent than the beta?
i really wanted to play this game, i really liked a lot of the ideas in there, diplomacy and crafting were major feature adding to the usual get me x amount of y quest grind, but the massive amount of bugs and extremely poor performance i can get with my rig is breaking the immersion experience i want in an MMO. my machine : amd 3500+ 7800gtx 2G of ram, i tried most trick people posted to get better performance but frankly if have the choice between Vanguard looking like DAOC and DAOC i ll choose the later for its great pvp implementation.
i hope they fix it soon so that i can give it another try but right now, i would prefer to attend an how-to sustain a huge amount of kick in the balls training than play Vanguard in its current state..

Vanguard Fanboy response:
I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't experienced anything of the kind you are talking about. I am running Vanguard on a Pentium-133 with 12Mb RAM and it runs flawlessly, I've never had a game run as smooth as this. People that say there are bugs in this game, but they are lying, and it is my sworn duty to uphold this game's honor because it truly is the most amazing game that will ever be made. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life, I have changed my surname to McQuaid, and I am growing a goatee.
World of Warcraft Fanboy response:
Chuck Norris and Brad McQuaid had a wager that they could make the ultimate MMO. Chuck Norris created something called real life, Brad McQuaid lost the bet.
Everquest 1 fanboy response:
This game is just a carbon copy of THE ONLY MMORPG. This is just a bugged POS. These games are for people who don't like CHALLENGE. And EQ1 is more of an MMORPG than Vanguard could ever HOPE TO BE.
SWG fanboy response:
THIS MADE BY SONY AND I WILL NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM AGAIN. THEY ARE EVIL AND EVERYTHING THEY TOUCH WILL FAIL. GIVE IT 1 MONTH AND THEY WILL REVAMP EVERYTHING AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR PLAYERS AT ALL.
EVE Online fanboy response:
Change the world? Freedom to do anything? You can't change anything! There are no territories to permanently control, no bases of power to build, none of the opportunity for truly free interaction that you get with EVE, which is 100,000,000 times deeper than all other MMORPGs put together.
Jaded gamer response:
I am bitterly dissapointed by this game. It's supposed to be 3rd Gen. And I'm still doing the same old crap I've been doing in other games, only the other games have less bugs in them! Kill 10 mobs here, deliver this note there, explore these places, collect these items!! I am saddened by the state of MMORPGS these days, there is not a single good one out there.
Those eagerly awaiting for the next hyped MMOs response:
Whatever, don't waste your money. Just wait for Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, or Age of Conan to come out, these are going to be REAL MMORPGs that offer something new.

Man they just copied the graphics, only worse! After the last live update/combat revamp/expansion I can tell you with all authority that EQ2 is THE best game out there, I just have so much fun.
hh nobody answered my original Q how the game was since luanch
When was the last time you played?
I only ask because I started playing on Monday (Day before official release) with a pre-order key and I can tell you that with a rig less than yours I run smooth. I have been thoroughly impressed for the past 3 days with the performance on the next to highest settings.
I can run it on the highest but I start to feel it then.
My rig is : AMD X2 4200+, 7600GT (256) OC'd, 2gb DR800, 250gb SATA
I've seen no performance issues at all. I was very suprised based on what I had read, but then people started telling me that the performance increased alot over the past week prior to launch.
I am officially loving the game, from uninterested to interested bystander to major fanboi! That's me!
Have not encountered any bugs (the gameplay kind, definitely though there are icky buglike creatures eeww).
No problems running the game.
Characters and buildings, banners, smaller world items are very detailed while the trees, grass and larger world details appear very undetailed and need alot of work.
Character creation even better than when I first tried it in beta some time ago. Only complaint is...you use sliders for even the clothing choice. It would be simpler to pick it from a selection screen. Also, the color and style of the outfit I chose on the character creation screen was not at all the one my character was wearing once in game. grrrr
Combat very standard so far. Left click to attack, toolbar icons fire specials, a small attack radius circle appears around the creatures feet..
My standard character is ranger and...the bow looks good but works not so realistically. As soon as your animation of drawing the bow begins, the selected creature slides right over to you and begins attacking. I expect that a creature doesn't know I'm shooting at it till it is hit. I know EQ2 and WOW work this same way but, it is very annoying and immersion breaking.
Although the first few quests I took were go kill 7 of these...there were definitely some surprises.
Diplomacy, I just took the tutorial. I think it is an intriguing mini-game thus far.
Servers are populated enough. Peak time, none of them are low anymore. EU servers are getting a bit crowded.
Community is good. Haven't had any problems yet.
Definitely running better, could still use some improvement.
Lots has changed since the beta and is still changing, I like to call it beta 6, due to the fact that it is still, in my opinion unfinished. But it is very playable.
Agreed it could have used more time in Beta. But if they continue to make the improvements at the pace of the last few weeks; it will be very polished in a few months

Umm...my computer specs aren't anywhere near yours, but my comp runs it fine on balanced settings with maximum clip plane distance. I have:
Athlon 64 3200
1 GB 400mHz PC3200 DDR
GeForce 7600 with 512mb onboard RAM
I'd imagine, if you had trouble running it during Beta, it was because of the additional logging and testing software that was part of the Beta client. YMMV, however.
