What races are playable in this game i tried checking the official site but it didnt list them even though it listed the professions thanks

    Humans and Elves and coming in summer gar.  I know only 3 like wtf??? Well let me tell you elves were only added 2 years ago maybe 1 but many of us would still rather just have all humans. The game is turning into WoW. Me personally have closed my account. I wouldn't bother with this game anymore because if you start playing now come summer everything will change and you will be outraged that you had to learn their current system for pretty much everything. Yeah, I was one of the supporters that just adapted for 8 years straight but i'm fed up. MAKE ULTIMA ONLINE MORE  ULTIMA STOP WITH THE F***** RACES YOUR BS EXPANSIONS (SE anyone) YOUR TACTICS TOWARD RELEASEING A EXPANSION WITH WTFBBQ111 OVERPOWERED SHIT EVERY NEW EXPANSION JUST SO PEOPLE BUY IT YOUR STUPID SELLING POINT FOR ELVES WITH ELF ONLY ARMOR LIKE OMG WTF NOT TO MENTION EVERYDAY I CAN CHANGE MY MAIN INTO A ELF OR HUMAN NO PROBLEM (dumbest S*** ever I might add)  I AM SICK AND TIRED OF STUPID DEVS RUNNING THE GAME I SUBED FOR. EVER SINCE RG LEFT YOU GUYS HAVE F***** THIS GAME OVER TO HELL AND BACK AND NOW YOU CONTINUE WITH YOUR NONSENSE OF KEEPING EVERYTHING HIDDEN FROM US TILL 1 WEEK BEFORE RELASE HAVE YOU STUPID F****** EVER HEARD OF FEEDBACK BUT NO YOU RELASE SOME SS AND CONCEPT ART AND JUST SAY "WE CAN'T ANSWER THAT RIGHT NOW" MAYBE IF UO HAD BETTER DEVS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS IT WOULDNT OF GOTTEN THAT BAD BUT INSTEAD ALL THE NOOB DEVS WERE ABLE TO COME IN AND DID NOTHING BUT MIN EXPANSIONS WITH IDEAS THAT WERENT THOUGHTOUT!!!!! F*** THIS GAME AND I HOPE IN THE FUTURE WHEN THESE GUYS WANT JOBS THEY STAY UNEMPLOYED FOR MAKING THIS S*** WE CALL UO!!!!

    The lack of a variety of races is made up for  by Uo's unique skill system. It is not class based like other mmos. Uo is extremely different in that you can use a weapon as well as magery in once character as long as you dont exceed the skill limit. Also humans have 20 of every skill and use less mana( for specials and spells). Elves have 20 mana and can see at night and in dungeons. And we dont know what the hell gargoyles or whatevers gonna have since eas devs like to suprise us like a day before the damn thing comes out. : /

    My Hummie can see in dungeons too. He has a super special ability called "Turnus upus brightness ofus monitorus". You have to be pretty 1337hAxX to get it though.

    Maybe you're not just turning up the brightness of your monitor... and you're a real life elf!



    In seriousness though -- as you saw by the first poster UO seems to bring out strong emotions on both sides. Some people really hate UO (usually because something they loved about it in the past got changed) and some people still really love the UO experience. I've been playing UO for about 8 years now and can say I've mostly enjoyed it. UO provides a different play experience from other MMORPG's, particularly of the Everquest style. There's no levels in UO, it's all skill based. The UO world feels more real - esp. compared to the artificial nature of say... WoW... where there are 'zones' and level XX mobs in that zone set to move on certain paths. Finally, the crafting -- though the player crafting economy isn't as great as it could be it's nice that when you hit a mountain, you get ore, when you chop any tree you get wood, etc... There's no nodes to hunt for or only certain areas you can get craft resources. Then you can use those resources to make many 'mundane' items you can't in other games - chairs, bed deeds, etc...  What you do makes sense.
