I've compiled a list so far of the top things I'd like to see implemented or changed.
It's a shame there are no more official forums, so I guess I'll just post them here and hope someone sees them.
Tradeskills:
From a roleplay and concept standpoint there isn't enough variety in tradeskills. My intellectual and sagely mage shouldn't be dirtying his hands building things with lumber or blacksmithing, he should be tinkering with mechanical devices/trinkets, arcane artifacts, alchemy/potions, or even simply enchanting items with spells.
We need ancillary tradeskills that can be taken in addition to a more useful and important "main tradeskills (ie blacksmithing or alchemy), like cooking, map making, and toy making.
-Maps could be produced by players of specific areas and the players who buy them could mark them up with points of interest or things to remember. Map makers could also sell in game journals and papers that can be written on (like for distributing guild rules in person, or raid instructions).
-Cooks could make a variety of foods that heal over time, and regen endurance or energy. Foods could also do other things when combined with something like alchemy or potion making.
-Toy makers could make things that are for fun, like firework wands. They could also make art or trinkets for putting in houses. The potential here is unlimited.
Character Development:
Give us greater customization over our character, by letting us tweak existing powers to make them more unique to our character, ala World of Warcraft.
Increase the soloing power a bit after the low levels. I, and most players, like to have a feeling of power with their characters. This means taking on more enemies as you gain power with levels.
I mean, if I'm forced to group at level 20 and we take five minutes to bring down a single mob, but then that same group at level 50 is still fighting single mobs that take a while to kill, then where is the sense of increased power?
PvP:
Allow Rogues to steal from players on the PvP server, ala Ultima Online.
Graphics/Sound:
Revamp a lot of the animations and add more variety. Some are good, like some martial artist moves. Others are laughable, like the "attack stance" for those holding a caster staff.
Animations are critical to player enjoyment because if your character doesn't look cool in action then you're not going to like him much.
Most of the spell effects I've encountered so far have been very bland and uninteresting. If powers don't look nice then they don't feel nice, and then your character is not as as fun to play.
We need more animation variety in spellcasting, more particle effects, and more representation of spells that are active.
NPCs need a greater variety in voices.
Towns need to be more lively. People walking around, doing stuff, talking, sounds etc.
Interface:
Give each player room to write a bio of their character, which can be viewed when other players inspect them. This encourages roleplay by encouraging players to think more about who their character is, where they come from, and what they seek.
It also enhances roleplay in general by allowing people to immerse themselves in the lore of other players.
Powers
I'd like ability to scale walls or cliffs. Especially as a Rogue, Ranger, or Monk.
Give us a pet class that can control lots of pets at once, like a small army of six to twelve. I always found pet classes boring in other games because all you get is one, or maybe two. What I loved about City of Villains was that there is a Mastermind class which can control up to 6 or 8 pets at once, with there being three to four different kinds of pets at your command.
Diplomacy:
You should be able to have diplomatic battles against other players. If not just for fun, then to bet gold or items on the outcome.
Diplomatic battles between two characters could even been a unique way to resolve decisions or disputes in game about what a group or guild should do.
