My old comp couldn't even run Battlefield 2. Besides MMOs I like FPS's but I haven't had the computer to play any of them. VG was the final straw. If I couldn't even play MMOs, something had to change. And I figured I might as well go all the way :P.
Yea it's like when we made the shift up to Halflife 2. EVERYONE bought new pcs and new video cards and buckets of RAM not because of that game but because EVERYTHING after it was folowing in it's footsteps Issuence of a new era of gaming requirements.
I cannot believe what I have seen people say they will do for this game....New graphics cards, more ram, new computer altogether! I just cannot believe that people would spend so much for one game. The recent post about buying a new harddrive just to install this game makes me question on earth our priorities are with our money.......oh well, to each his own, but this is just crazy!
Actually most of those people are just fanboys talking out their butts. They are probably playing in Moms basement on her hand me down Dell at about 10 FPS on minimum settings because their jobs cleaning the bathrooms down at the bus station don't pay enough for a new box.
Anyway this ganme is not even worth a new 200 dollar video card imho. There are other games coming out later this year which give far better graphics and performance on current mid end boxes. Sigil just used an old engine which did not scale well and they don't seem to be able to optimize it. Even EQII's graphics perform and look ,uch better.

upgrade talk is not normal, it is a phenomena of the last two years. It is the bi product of a booming economy and an accelerated rate of discovering new technology. Compare this to the previous 20 years of gaming and you will se people upgraded at most once every two years. Now it's once every six months. This is not normal, but will be normal if it continues for another 20 years...but that won't happen because you suckers keep feeding the industry and inflating it to hell,....
You must not have been playing games very long. Its been way longer than 2 years people talking about upgrading. I've played from the start of multiplayer games and it has always been a push to get a newer/better system/part to make your games run faster and look better. Whenever something became "AFFORDABLE" people looked at upgrading. When you played FPS's you wanted the fasted system and connection you could get because that was an advantage. It is still the same today.
So, for any long time gamer, this is normal. The difference today is that game developers design there games to use technology that is not readily available to the masses, Unless you pay the buck$ This is what pushes the industry. If they didn't do this then all the games would still look like UO, and maybe EQ. I'd like to see someone run any of the major MMO's on there system they ran EQ on when it was released. Oh! and not complain about lag or not say the graphics suck...
