If you don't want SOE in your topic then why do you spend all of your time trolling the Everquest boards?

I dont spend all my time on everquest boards either i got vanguard and Lord of rings to thank you theres more of me there then the everquest but i guess i said some stuff on everquest ones that draw the lifers and nolifers of the game to my topics Im sorry for that but its all true.
2) there are 4 types of servers: PvE, PvP, RPPvE, RPPvP.
they differentiate on 2 axis: RP<--------->non-RP
and PvE<---------------->PvP
Here is the rundown:
PvE: You cannot be attacked by any enemy unless you either willingly flag yourself for PvP or do some pvp action like attacking guards or healing/buffing/rezzing players with a pvp flag on (the pvp flag is the symbol of your faction next to the portrait, you have it, you are pvp flagged, you do not have it, you aren't pvp flagged). If you get flagged, then you can be attacked by any and all enemies for 5 minutes. This timer resets every time you engage in pvp combat.
Battlegrounds works normally though and when you go there, you automatically flagged for pvp for the duration of the match.
PvP: The world is divided in: Your Regions, Contested Regions and Enemy regions. (color coded, green, yellow and red). Your regions include your capital cities and the 1-10 and 10-20 areas around it (so, taking stormwind as example, stormwind city, elwyn forest and westfall are alliance regions). they are coded Green. While in such a region, it works like in pve. you are not flagged for pvp unless you do it yourself and no enemy can attack you.
Contested Regions: Color coded yellow, comprising all areas 20+, basically most of the world. the moment you enter this area you are flagged for pvp and cannot remove the flag. everybody is flagged. you can freely attack and be attacked by enemies at any time.
Enemy regions: color coded red, comprising all enemy areas level 20- and their capital cities. You are immediatly flagged for pvp the moment you enter but the enemies aren't. As such, THEY can freely attack you, but you cannot attack them unless they attack first or have their flag up for some reason.
Battlegrounds work normally.
The other axis is RP Vs Non-RP.
The only difference is RP servers have strictier naming rules and some additional rp-encouraging rules like no out of character conversation in /say, /yell and /party. /general is for conversations about the game, so you can go out of character there, but limited to discuss WoW.
Also interrupting or disturbing a RP event get an harsher penalty than normally.
That's about it

On these servers you could play all the way to endgame never entering PVP.
But you can PvP on Pve servers too, if you wish too
