Levels 25-30 already? (February 2)

I did some character searching on the www.vanguardsoh.com and the highest level people are already around level 25-30?

What this game has been out a few days now?

I also found some level 50's, but I take it those are GM's or something..

Anyway I'm still considering to buy this thing, but looks like this game is over even faster than EQ2 was I remember it took about a month before people reached max level..

Most of those people that are around lvl 30 are prolly playin 15 hours a day since the 26th, and i know a few are long time beta testers so they already know there way around.  the lvl's drastically scale in xp needed the higher you go, even those prolly won't hit 50 for atleast another month or 2, but the majority it will take awhile longer especially ones that have a life

It's a 'hardcore' game for 'hardcore' players...i.e. ones without social life at weekends, hobbies outside the house and girlfriends (See the guy who hit lvl 60-70 in 24hrs in WoW for more details :P) . Regardless of that, if none of the above is true, which may be the case, the fact remains that sitting at a PC for that long to 'achieve' those levels is NOT healthy; possibly causing RSI, eye strain, carpel tunnel, obesity/bad eating habits (i was well under weight when i played MMO's all day, skipping meals).

Unfortunately for me, even though my long days of sitting playing MMO's is over (just a couple of hours every other night), im a designer that requires me doing the exact same motions as playing an MMO, with more clicking on a mouse lol. As a result im becoming short-sighted and get RSI in my wrists.

This turned into a slightly irrelevant rant, i guess it's because recently i realised how unhealthy i'd become sat staring at a monitor, but at least it's not sat infront of a TV like alot of hypocrites who criticize me do :)

Takes month or two to get from 30 to 50, but only a few days from 1 to 30? Wow.. Well that seems quite harsh, but thanks for clarifying this I didn't know that the levels worked like that. Interesting..

It's beause they don't stop playing :P On WOW i started the shaman Draenei at the same time as these other guys and they were into their 50's within a week and i was 32. Now they're level 70 and still playing lol.

They don't come off tbh, everytime i logged on they were on and even if i logged on at stupid times.

The game has been out for a week, that sounds about right if you are putting your time in, and are questing with friends on a regular basis.

Just goes to show how some people can easily  dis-regard their precious health, at the expense of something so dispensable as an online game.

Yeh it's shocking really, but i was just as bad at Uni, all that free time and no work, i remember being sat in my room in the middle of summer, scorching hot, playing SWG,etc, or setting my alarm to join a raid on the US server in WoW when it first came out. All those wasted youth years. I'm in my early twenties now playing catch-up on my social life, not doing to bad, but the alcohol takes it's toll rofl.

Been watching the high level on my server.  They do group quests and are online nearly all times of the day.

    To compare thus far:

This far into WoW, there were was a lvl 57 (at least).

Highest so far on gulgrethor is lvl 29, which would be roughly equivilant to lvl 35 in WoW at release.

The curve seems to be very harsh though, esp since the exp nerf.  These same people were 24 3-4 days ago.  Seems like they have hit a wall, only gaining 1-2 levels a day with hardcore play.

The Job Centre should use PC's with a WoW UI on them, and searching for jobs would be like the auction house. Then we'd have none of these hardcore players. "Sales Assistant, 10g! PST" "omgz, trade!"

So much for a deep rewarding character progression cycle…

I mean really, if you can just blow through content at a WoW like pace then its meaningless in the end.

Sorry, maybe its just cause im a FFXI player that sees these easy games and I just have to laugh…

Dont forget you have your lv 1-50 in tradeskill too so if you are doing both itll take even longer. And all those ppl who are lv 25-30 already probably dont have a life anyway imo.
  • BademBadem Member Posts: 830

I too am a FFXI player but am waiting to get upgrade on PC tomorrow so i can get on to Vanguard

Even nearly 8 months down teh line i am level49 RDM /24 BLM and i play around 5 hours a day, im not after get to max level yaddyaddyadda i just wanna explore, interact with the world and obviously craft beautiful stone house and get my own on Vanguard

Rapid grind takes the fun out of the game, and im guessing this early into release their aint that much High Level content so who gets bored first, those that rushed to max level or me who takes the time and also enjoys crafting and making stuff for people?

    I wonder

How do you kill something that has no life?

Please. Let the catasses race to the end. Let them find the bugs and such.

Take your time with this game, don't outrace the content and bug fixes.

Don't compare yourself to them, whine about them, or anything else. These people strive on being first. Let them, but please Sigil, don't cater to them.

I see no problem with that.  However...

    - It supposed that peoples stick to a few groups of peoples exclusively...soo much for the community and meeting lot of new peoples all the time.  Again, this is not really a problem IMO, but these devs keep saying communities are important, seeing new faces should be more important than leveling in the goals of these devs...and they obviously fail here.

    - After 50, there will be some stuff to munch on...then blank raiding, all over again.  These players are mostly racing to get there before another guild...

I never rush level on mmorghs. When playing WOW it took me months and months to get to lv 60.  And on vanguard i hope to build a boat for my guildies to travel on so will be focusing on that quite a bit.

Sigil is catering to them at 20%, and it will worsen in time.  20% of EXCLUSIVE rewards that they will be alone in getting, while getting the 80% remaining, making them effectively...elite.  Screw that!

I'm surprised by your surprise.  All MMOs have powerlevelers.  You'll have a person at  level cap by the end of next week.

    Seriously.

"How do you kill that which has not life?"

I wouldn’t worry about it... I don’t care if someone is level 50 in two days, in this game you’re assured that they simply have way to much time to play games.

Dont see the point in power levelling. if i was it would take the enjoyment out of the game.

    Vegetto, what is RSI?

Not to hijack the post or anything, but more on topic... I does not bother me that some people are already lvl 50.  I want to experience more content than just killing mobs and grinding.

You know, they could be part of some Chinese Gold Farmer factory, or maybe Korean... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4137782.stm

They could be gold farmers, they could be bots, or they could be people leveling up characters to sell them off later...  It happens, it's insidious, but it happens.  Of course it wouldn't happen if some of you out there didn't patronize such 'businesses'...  But that's a rant for another forum topic.

Fortunately I didn't discover MMORPG's until after college and when I had a job and a social life...  I'll tell you what I don't do infavor of playing an MMORPG though, and that's watch TV.  With a few exceptions, TV is so worthless, at least here in the States.

    RSI = Repetetive Stress Injury

from constant movemnet in your wrist and elbows, cause tendons to become inflamed ,

Imagine just putting your arm on the desk then just move your wrist side to side for about 30 mins no stop, thats mild RSI

Sigil has secretly reacted by lowering the XP rates severly, so the average and casual players pay the price now. It is sad to see rules are applied based on ppl I can just call insane. Sorry, I played a lot of time too, and wasnt anywhere near that. It means a person must have played 16 hours a day and every second grinding. If that is the measure of a game XP rate, we are really lost. A game and its mechanics should be based on the average player's speed and wishes not on a few extremists. But, this is how it goes, and I feel this is the "vision". Payday will come. Everything has it's price, and Sigil employees and owners will pay it. But we loose another opportunit for a good game,  maybe the best chance in years, THAT is the tragedy, because some people just can not listen to the right people.
