Servers and Roleplaying

I got DDO when it just came out, and now I feel like giving this game a second chance, however, I remember there was something about unofficial servers some German, English and French. But im not sure, really if this is still the case. If so however does anyone know what servers are mainly English and perhaps even roleplay servers.

    Not sure if your playing from Europe or not?   I know in the U.S. the "unofficial" roleplaying servers wer Thelanis and Sarlona.

    The European servers are currently:

    Aureon

    Boldrei – unofficial RP server

    Dorn – unofficial German server

    Lyrandar

    Onatar – unofficial French server

    HOWEVER, there is soon to be server merges (date not yet announced) where the current plan is:

    New Keeper server will be Boldrei + Auron

    New Devourer server will be Dorn + Lyrandar + Onatar

    So if you are interested in RP you would be advised to join Boldrei now, else join Keeper after the merge has taken place.

    If the DDO folks had any brains at all, they would make an RP-Enforced server. You dont roleplay, you get deleted/kicked off the server. Simple. Id play that - I guess.

    I think they should have had one server that was listed officially as RP/normal server.    This give people that wish to group in RP groups a server that they all could congregate too.   As far as roleplaying itself goes, that is strictly a community issue.   No game company can make roleplaying happen.   They can just set up a game and give people the tools such as emotes and environments to do that.   If players want to roleplay in DDO they have everything they need to accomodate that playstyle.    Just by opening a official roleplaying server does not make roleplaying occur.   The players themselves do that.

    Very true.  Roleplaying is only as good as the players make it.  Even on official RP servers there is usually all levels of play.
