I hope when the graphics upgrade comes out, they add new servers. One without trammel, yet has the rules to which we all love. This would be icing on the cake, and would sell me to come back in a heart beat. If they announced even just a new server where people couldn't migrate that'd help convince me to come back and play regularly... but with the world as is (good housing spots all taken and loot up the A$$) I couldn't see starting fresh and being 10 years behind everyone else who has been playing it for a long time. So I'm hoping for two servers:
One with trammel and Fel
One with just Fel
Why? Not only to end the age-old-debate of trammel killed UO, but also to allow both play types a fresh server to play on where everyone is starting out new.
One thing I liked about being able to PK anyone was that once in awhile you'd come across a person who was farming and you'd make several hours of loot in a couple of minutes... that was the greatest feeling ever. Of course it happens to you and it sucks, but the risk factor doesn't outweigh the rewards

All Felucca, no insurance and som other rules.
I heard there is no recall or gate on Siege, is this true? If so, then I can see why some people wouldn't want to play that particular ruleset. I haven't played since '99, but I am thinking about joining up again. My problem is that the only high speed I can get is satellite.
Anyways, GOD BLESS RECALL
btw, anyone play on satellite ?
That, and Siege has all the other Trammie carebear crap like;
Blessed Weapons and Armor (blessed means it does not drop on the ground with your dead body, it stays with your ghost and it cannot be stolen)
Private Housing (by simpling clicking a switch, a player can install a forcefield around his house, you will bounce off if trying to enter)
Blessed Runebooks (almost every part of the world is forever accessible with no risk and no travel necessary)
Firebeetle Forges (living breathing giant beetle pets that can be ridden and used as a smithy forge)
Giant Golem Robots (used to beat on AFK for training)
Ressurectable Pets (pets never die, they can be resurrected and are used in combat without risk)
Bags of Sending (yes bags of sending! You can put things in a little bag and send it directly to your bank and they are rechargeable)
Instant looting (no need to watch your back or have someone help you, just click on your body and everything poofs back into your pack)
Instanced looting (there can be a dead body or monster on the ground and only those that did the most damage can loot the dead body, everyone else will be denied access)
No more NPC interaction (was taken out of all shards)
Invulnerable NPCs (cannot be harmed whatsoever)
For the most part, NPCs do not carry what they are wearing anymore
Broken Unrealistic Economy (you can buy as much as you want, the NPCs keep up to 999 of an item, buy it all and they instantly restock)
No more Bounties, no more decapitating, murderers are nothing more than "Reds" and can enter any town.
And all the other gay Trammie carebear crap, it would take me so long to list everything, but here is some, Ninjas, Flip-Flops, Rideable dogs, Giant purple pet Beetle Container Mounts, sunglasses, elves, item properties, item based game instead of skill based, flourescent clothing and armor and weapons (neon green platemail and bright pink swords), giant snowmen and snowflakes, gingerbread men and candy canes....etc, etc...
The bottom line is, It's absurd that any players call Siege Perilous a hardcore or classic UO shard still, if anyone does, you can be sure they are ignorant and have no idea what they are talking about and very likely have never played there or know nothing of Classic Utlima Online.
Yet, these same people like to wrongly use Siege as an example of a failed Classic UO or Felucca, when it is in actuality more recognizable as a Trammie carebear shard with more difficult rules. Who want's to play the same crap, but with more difficult rules?
And Siege has no recall feature, but you can gate.
And as for satelite, I think you have then quite a high latency and UO is still very latency dependant.
UO is not the best game to play on satelite.
That doesn't make any sense to me. I used to play on dial-up getting 14.4 connections on a GOOD day. And that was back when UO actually had a good population. (~1999) When you walked near a town bank it was always crowded. Yea, I had some lag, but I could still enjoy the game. I'm not trying to say your wrong, I was the one that asked the question. But the whole thing pisses me off.
There is a guy I work with that plays WoW on satellite with no problems. I would just give it a try, but I don't want to be in contract, paying $100 a month, just to see if I can start playing UO again.
Thanks again guys/gals
I'm going to have to keep myself from playing this game again.
I miss you UO =(
