Your framerate is?

ArclanArclan Member UncommonPosts: 1,550

On "High", my FPS is 30.  On "Balanced" + raising most settings, I get consistent 100FPS.  This is with no INI tweaks.

My rig:

2.4 ghz dual core, clocked to 2.9

2gb corsair dominator RAM

8800 GTX

I just read a review on gamespy and the reviewer mentioned a 3.2ghz dual core with two Nvidia 6800 SLI video cards.  And that her framerate was barely 5.  ?? !! Huh?  My buddy who has a 2 year old system, amd 2.0 ghz, 1gb RAM, and an OLD ati all-in-wonder; he gets 15fps.

But enogh about me, what do you get and what's your rig?   To see framerate in VG, press CTRL-P

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

Getting about 30, a little lower in some areas.  Max quality, almost all sliders to the right.  Smooth enough gameplay that I never checked the FPS until people started asking me.

I only mention the sound card because those using onboard are getting hosed in the FPS department, especially with mid range systems.

On balanced I get on average 22 FPS, however since I am on a PvP server those FPS are very dear to me so I run on High performance with around 40 FPs on average.

Oh and my system is Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, ATI radeon X850 Pro 256 MBs and 2 gigs of ram. I also have a soundcard but its pretty old.

Hmm I find it odd that the folks rating less than 15FPS have decided not to post their machine's specs.

I average about 15 FPS, Ive gone as high as like 22 and as low as 4.  Ive also just upgraded my computer to a  AMD Athlon 64 3500, 2 Gs memory and a new Radeon X1600 graphics card.  Ive also NOT messed with the game files, dont know what really to do and I dont wanna mess anything up so oh well.

If you upgraded your system and bought a video card $250 or more, you should be rocking a helluva lot more than 22 FPS.  Unless you have graphic settings to "high" instead of balanced.

Quad core processor here with a 8800 GTX.  On highest settings I get about 50-60 FPS in the wild, 80 FPS in the ocean, and 30-40 in busy towns.   That's the last time I checked.  Overall performance and hitiching improves a bit each patch.  Its running pretty smoothly now.  The hitching is rare, and it prolly is the auto screenshots or something of that nature.

i was getting between 15-20 fps, on the middle setting. the performance would degrade over time though, after a few hours it would be a slideshow, and i would have to reboot.

    amd64 3200+

That is pretty stupid. If you never tinker with .ini files you are never going to have the best performance, at least on unreal based games.

I get 17-20 fps while running and about 28 fps standing still at highest quality with tweaks. 2 gb pc2700 ram (DDR333), AMD 1.93 mhz not oc'd and ATI X800 pro.

OMG Anarchyart, WTF are you talking about? If you never tinker with .ini files you are never going to get best performance from unreal based engines?

I think every single developer at Epic Games just had a heart attack!

I absolutely max out Rainbow Six: Vegas and it's stunning on my PC and that's a pure UE3 Games, Gears of War is a 360 game (so you can't even get to the .ini files) and it's one of the best examples of 3rd gen graphics.

Lineage 2 is a modified 2.0 and I can max it out and have smooth gaming with hundreds of people on the screen and massive battles. Single players games? Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a modified 2.5 + ACC, which almost identical to what Vanguard is using and again I can maxout with no hiccups at all.

No, sorry, Anarchyart, you are so incredibly wrong there. The average computer user should NOT be asked to screw around with .ini files (no matter how simple it is) to get a game to run right. Most especially not with a quality gaming engine like UE+.

Does VG use SLI setups? I've heard only one of the VC will work in SLI.

Nope, no SLi profile just yet.

There's an unofficial .par file over at nvnews.net though, I'm testing it out now.

I get less than 15 fps on average.  I am on the default setting and since I am not "puter savvy" I don't tweak programming.  My system is a 3.2, 2 gigs of ram,  geforce 6800 GT Xtreme and SB Live 5.1 PCI .

I can guarantee that Sigil/SOE has limited its clientelle by requiring uber systems to play VG decently.  People will be able to play LotRO easily with far lower systems.  I actually prefer VG over LotRO for gameplay, but I am having no fun with less than 15 fps on average.  And, if I am not having fun, then why torture myself.  I cannot afford to upgrade my puter system now, so I will wait until the uber motherboards and video cards come down in price.

In the desert settings, I get up to 20 fps.  In forested areas, I get 12-15 fps.  Of course, this will vary a little, but never goes much higher than 20 at any time.  I have a 2.4 ghz AMD dual core, 2 gigs of ram, and a Nvidia 7600 with 512k.

    well geee

Thats a 2100-2500dollar computer right there lol.

I dont know of many people who will fork over that much money to play an MMO.

Its great that you happen to have that system, but it sucks for those who dont

    BTW

I have the same exact specs....only with a 7600 GT card and my fps is only 20.  You see.....Im married...and well....many wives will report you to the insane asylum if you were to blow 695-800 bucks on a friggin video card that will be 200 dollars in six months.

Im sure the devs didnt intend to make only 8800 users with the only ones to have 100 fps.  It's their coding.  or just poor decision making skills.

    QFE

    agreed.

When you have to put out a 3 page tutorial on how to tweak a game config file, then something isnt right and I dont care which way you cut the cake....if you need to edit those config files for anything other than cheating, then the developers failed to do it right themselves.

Config files, traditionally, are not meant to be molested.  And anyone who says you HAVE to tweak config files in ANY game to make it work is just 110 percent W-R-O-N-G.  Like I said, the only time when people molest config files is in high tournament FPS games like CS or BF2.  And people tweak those for lighting, etc....or cheating.

Never is a config file to be molested to make a game run better.  That's the developer and its codes' job to do. period.
