Just want to say 'cya' to everyone I met over the past 3 years of living in Ryzom from closed beta onwards. It was a beautiful place to reside in. Unfortunately things change and not always for the better. I wish GF good luck as I really think that is what they need at this point.

You may not have known me but I knew all of you and will miss being there every day.

    What happened? Is it something RL or game related? I'm always curious about what happens in this game, although I don't play it.

    What just happened today is that it got known that Gameforge ended the contract with Jolt.

    Jolt was the company that did the (outstanding) customer support in Ryzom. They managed a 24/7 support in Ryzom, ran the events, and answered in a couple of minutes when you send in a ticket.
    The support was one of the main reasons of ryzomn being that high in the list of MMORPG.

    The players are a bit worried on the forums of what happens now...

    I understood you are one of the fantastic csr that so much helped and entertained us in game. I am disappointed of the GF decision but cannot judge them as I don't know the real situation. I still hope to see you in game   if not as a csr at least as a player.

    And I send to you and all the csr's team the best wishes for the future.

    Just for curiosity: Have you tried the game? If yes, what is your opinion, because you don't play it?

    I am truly addened by the turnover of CSR.  It was great to have the team that was such a big part of the game.  I enjoyed being able to get hold of a csr memeber almost instantly while online, at any hour of the day.  With GF, cancelling the contract with Jolt the CSR is lacking now.  On noobie island it took over an hour to get a response on a Ticket I sent in.

    I truly love this game, and it would be sad if this turn over caused Ryzom to die because of it.  We dont really know what GF's ultimate plans are for the future of this game.  They have already stated in the last interview, they didnt have plans of using the storyline that Nevrax originally had planned.  So we wont get to see more of the planet, as was hinted by Nevrax.

    Will there be anymore events?  unknown

    Will the be 24 hour coverage as before? unkown

    I will be around, because I tend to be too loyal, but I believe when you start something you see it thru till the end.  Been married 30 years, Im not giving up on a game so soon.

    I hope to see more players ingame soon.  Because I know Ill still be around :)

    From what I understood of the chat logs, they were planning on finishing what Nevrax had started, I really don't remember Phelan stating they weren't going with the original storyline, that's why they kept the developpers. Unless you're referring to the events that were hosted by Jolt?

    Right now what they are working on are ironing things out, fixing well known bugs and issues, fixing ranged, adding more newbie content and developing the early missions (thank goodness ^.^), and THEN working on higher level content and the promised Kitin Lair. I also remember GF saying that the world of Ryzom is much larger then what we have seen so far, and we should eventually get new lands ect..

    I don't know, but I find all this pretty exciting...

    They lost all the event staff, both Jolt and Nevrax and stated they wouldn't develop the old storyline any more. So that's all in limbo and there is nobody to continue it.

    At all.

    The development it seems will shift to standard MMO boss and quest content, with not even a whiff of the saga remaining. There's also talk of 'fixing' the economy.

    Not good. Which is why we finally decided to leave. What little of Ryzom was left is now being scraped off.

    I have tried the game on noob island, I kinda liked it (foraging was fun), the community was simply AWESOME - every single question I asked was answered in the most polite way. I didn't play it for three reasons:
    - it's kind of expensive, and monthly fees make me cringe because it feels like you're wasting money when you don't play;
    - the complexity and non-linearity of the sandbox style kinda scared me, I was afraid I wouldn't know what to do in the game;
    - I'm a competitive Guild Wars player, and being in a top guild requires a lot of commitment, this keeping me busy most evenings (which coincide with my spare time).

    That's it. :)

    I am almost sure that the planet is much bigger than what we have seen: The underground is built in layers, and we have seen only the first. Also, the canopee (not sure this is the right word) in the sky was intended to be reachable at one point.

    There are plenty of things that makes me excited too. What we need is having some patience and waiting GF recovers the time lost because of Nevrax wrong decision to do Ring first. Ring is an awesome idea, but should have been done much after other contents.

    Well, first and third points can't be discussed, you are right. Strangely, the second point is what makes me addicted in the game

    It's true that people has his own way to play a game and his own taste

    My reasons are actually strongly tied together. I wouldn't be so involved with GW if it wasn't for the competitive play: since GW is "buy once, play forever" I could just make it my secondary game and put effort into Ryzom.
    If I _really_ liked Ryzom as my primary game, I'd have little problem spending ~13 EUR a month for a hobby... however, even though GW is getting old, there are going to be tournaments in April with real prizes at stake so obviously me and my guild are going to give it our best shot.
    Feeling lost in Ryzom is only an impression: I read that great post/letter on the official forums and I was fascinated about the wonderful time people seem to spend together. But fully getting into the game and its community takes time, which I can't afford to spend due to the reasons above. And are a few hours an evening enough to fully appreciate it?

    Would I like the game? Maybe. GW's and Ryzom's communities and player relationships seem to be as radically different as day and night. If the games lives 'til then, you might see me in a few months... who knows. :)
