Weekly screenshot

This shot shows off the features of the User Interface.

As the post on stratics site says.

Starting at the bottom right corner, you can see the mini-map. It shows the name of your area location, has several zoom levels, blue dots indicate friendlies and red dots indicate foes. The orange shine at the southern edge of the map indicates that a mission objective lies in that direction.

The bottom middle of the screen contains your currently selected weapon and ability. The number below is the amount of ammo in your weapon and your total ammo of that type. The XP bar lies under them and runs the length of the screen.

To the bottom left are your shield/health/power/adrenaline meters. Also included are your current level and full name.

Upper left shows the chat window. As you can see, the window itself goes transparent when you are not actively engaging it.

Upper right is your mission tracker that lists all missions you have currently marked for tracking on your map/tracker. You can add/remove missions from the tracker in your mission log.

In the center you have your reticle. The solid white ring in the middle decreases as you fire, indicating how many rounds are left in your clip.

These are the basic elements of the UI as they are now.

    Sweet, thanks for the post.

    I like how open it looks, and I hope it has movable frames built in like VG did, I love to crunch up most of my UI in a little space so I have the rest of the screen open... and only have to look in one place for everything I need :)

    Retired from WoW
    Rebellion - 60 Warlock || Kalaa - 60 Warrior
    Littlerebel - 60 Hunter || Albie - 60 Shaman
    Played: Erm, a lot more.

    I always like to see interface screenshots no matter what stage the development is in. Too many games have publish shots that don't feel real.

    Too true.

    Nice to see another AO fan patiently waiting on TR?

    I think the interface looks decent. I like the cleanliness. They just to add some "spunk" to the graphics of the UI, and it will be fine. It's clean, but too plain. Needs to be clean, with a nice techy feel.

    I disagree, no additional graphics is needed in my opinion. As they say themselves that we shouldnt be watching the UI but watch the game (no of course we'd have to watch it for a second from time to time) but why put in details to watch that we wont care about after 1 day of gameplay anyways? i'd rather see the team focusing on geting the game done :P

    Agreed, just look how popular the various "minimalist" UI addons for WoW are. Players "oooh" and "aaah" with Blizz's UI for a few days, then get rid of it and cram all their buttons into a small area so they have more screen to watch the game.

    One comment for last week's screenie -- I hope the crosshairs have a toggle keybind. In non-combat situations, I prefer a cleaner screen, no crosshairs.

    I'm not sure but i doubt you'll be able to remove your crosshair. About the UI, tho, CuppaJo recently stated the following on the tr.stratics.com forum:

    How customisable will the UI be?

    Still under investigation, but it will probably not be skinnable.

    Honestly i dont see why this would bother people tho since the UI is pretty much perfect as it is.

    I have never customised an interface on a game.

    That said if I think an interface is crap - I wont play the game.

    So out of the box it needs to be clean and show the required information, yet maximize screen viewing area. And from looking at the screenshot - the U.I for T.R meets these requirements so I am happy.

    Meh, the UI looks poorly done.  Very 1998. :(  I hope it gets a little more polish before the end of beta.

    MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan
