Both EB and Gamestop at my local mall were out of the preorder disks. The guy at Best Buy in the blue shirt was clueless of course. Both EB and Gamestop sold all their copies Friday ( EB sold 25 copies, I forgot to ask at Gamestop how many they had sold. EB put me on their call list and expect more in this coming week. First time I ever had to preorder a preorder.

I agree with you Chernvog. If you go to gamestop.com LOTR is the bestseller on the front page, and fouth place in the PC section behind VG and the two versions of BC for WoW. That sounds good to me.

If I can't get ahold of one by March I will order online, however the wife and I like to support our local stores when we can. Too many empty stores in the malls and shopping centers already.
that's pretty good considering launch is still over two months away.

Well, it's not like it's a local mom-and-pop store--it's just a chain. Personally I wouldn't worry about that aspect--but that's your call
You could always ask them to reserve one for you or give you a call when they come in again--since you can go there for some face time and actually talk to a person.

I'm curious about this game. I've read some about it on their website but you all posting here seem to be fans. What about the game makes you want to play it? What excites you the most?
I'll admit I've got my doubts about this game but, I am still interested in it.
Currently: Playing EVE Online
Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland.
Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.

still even chains close if they are not getting the business, and the employees have to find new jobs. I am sure that before the open beta I will snag one. The guy at EB said they were getting another shipment in this week. For the guy wanting to know what it is like they are having open beta starting March 30 for pre orders and public open beta on April 06. Try it for yourself, you may love it or you may not.

I'm not sure I'm a fan, technically, but I'm interested in the game and am positively disposed toward it.
I think the community will be different than that I've experienced in MMOs of late. I like that it has a solid, overarching story in which we the players are all in on. I like that the game by all accounts is already very solid and stable. I like that there's no open PvP (I like PvP--but it doesn't seem to fit with this story)--but instead a form of monster-play in which players can play monsters in the game against player characters (though it has its good and bad points). I'm also hoping that this form of PvP will keep a lot of the idiots from playing.
Do I see it as a game I'll spend the rest of my life or even the next year playing? Probably not. If the game is good, I might play it for 6 months. In any case, in terms of content, I've found MMOs to be decent value for the money. Single-player games are often, though not always, better--but will seldom have content beyond a few week's play at most. But the good ones don't come out that often. A decent MMO can keep me entertained for much longer because of the human and exporation elements.

My suggestion is for anyone who isn't sure about the game to try the game out, hopefully during open beta, or a friend who happens to get the game when it is released, words just aren't enough to tell you one way or the other what the game experience is like. I know I was reading and feeling I shouldn't hope too much from the game as I read reviews, but I no longer feel that way, but that's just my personal opinion from personal experience. I wish I could talk about the game, but I can't.
