If that was the worst graphics you have seen in a long time then you are not very knowledgeable about MMOGs.
What in the hell game that was commercially marketed this decade has worse graphics than Roma Victor, please point me in its direction so I can have another laugh.
Oh Sempiternal, I truly hope the game play kicks some serious ass! Because that is without a doubt the most pathetic display of graphics I've seen in a long time! I mean seriously, I think my niece could do a better job of programming animations. Wow, that was bad!
But I guess if you're having fun that's all that matters....
Oh man that was funny!
Your opinion obviously means very little for a couple of reasons. If that was the worst graphics you have seen in a long time then you are not very knowledgeable about MMOGs, nor have you tried very many. I don't know how old your niece is, but I seriously doubt she could do as well. I think your just speaking out of your ass.
my god you are ignorant... Ok, prove it. Since you know so much and you think the rest of the world is wrong, prove your knowledge. Show us all another MMOG with WORSE graphics. Both models and animations, kneedeep in mud and all. Come on, you say others speak out of their asses, show us all those games out there that people pay 15 bucks a month for, with graphics worse than this pile of manure? Or be quiet before you make a bigger fool out of yourself
Get off our ass and do our own research? You are the one lying, you are the one insulting people because you think your imagination is more valid thasn other peoples facts? Ok.. No reason to even read what you say then, you lie from beginning to end
"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force"
See above post, comprehension seems to be your failure. Why don't you show me some with worse graphics, it's not that hard. I'm not going to hold your hand.
Thats because you cant. Nice fantasy world you got there..
Does not matter what they cvharge.. hey, show everyone a worse FREE game then? You cant do that either, because you are an ignorant, arrogant abusive liar form beginning to end, without any contact with reality, and try to insuilt people to silence withot any facts or evidence at all, everything just your own fantasy? I am out of here, noone in the world can discuss anything with a person that dont even know reality from fantasy.... You are just pathetic, and abusive and not worth the time.. You sit there with your little stick figures

Let's quote you before you change it again shall we? If you can't find an MMOG with worse graphics, even with all the links supplied to the left of this very site, what does that say about you?

Hey, it would really help if many of you here thought before you posted; even if it was just to post about how exaggeratingly bad you thought the graphics of a game you don't play are.
I enjoy Roma Victor and I don't see anything else out there like it, graphics are the least of my concerns when it comes to spending my time.
Even if you ignore the horrendous graphics, how can you look past all the bugs and lag. Did they ever find names for the npc's besides a string of numbers. You say this game is historically accurate but there are npc's in the game that have numbers for names.
Oh yeah I noticed a contest on the Roma Victor forums that touted this as a grand prize: First prize is a house or “hut,” roundhouse_small_a, in Corstopitum.... I hope you win the roundhouse_small_a semp you would be deserving as you seem to be this games sole supporter.

OK Semp, I for one will leave you alone, as it appears you're a tad bit sensitive about your game. And you are completely right about spending your time as you see fit.
But one word of advice.... When someone doesn't agree with you, don't get your panties in a bunch and start climbing up on your high horse telling people that they're unintelligent because they don't like a historical game.
It must be nice to live in the same universe as Sempiternal. You all know the one that I'm talking about. The universe where you can say anything and have it instantly be true. The one where you can refute obviously correct statements with an evolved form of "I know you are, but what am I?"
God...that would be amazing. Wouldn't it? I mean, imagine how much better the world would be if we could all just deny the blatantly obvious without backing them up with any sorts of facts, or make statements with absolutely no grounding in reality!
Just imagine:
"Wow, that's terrible. In some countries in Africa, almost 40 percent of the adult population is infected with the AIDS virus, and an unknown amount have HIV, which will eventually bloom into AIDS, all the while spreading the disease at an exponential rate. Eventually, it will lead to a global pandemic."
Witty retort:
"Nu uh...you have AIDS."
Or, oh, oh! I've got another one!:
Person that doesn't have Down's Syndrome:
"Wow, what an amazing discovery! The earth is round! Look at these globes!"
"Look around you! Does the ground look curved to you? I don't think so. It's obvious that the world is flat! Real adults pay no mind to the painfully obvious/true/sane point of view. Honestly! If you disagree, why don't you go dig through all of those maps, charts, and globes and find me proof that the world if round. Go do it yourself."
Person that doesn't have Down's Syndrome:
"Uh, okay. Look, a globe. Actually, there are lots of globes. And guess what? They're all GLOBES. Roundy goodness."

The above post is purely my opinion. If you disagree, that's your right. However, don't be an ass about it.
You say this game is historically accurate but there are npc's in the game that have numbers for names.
Wrong. No there are not. That was updated some time ago as I am sure the sand will be too. But, what a poor excuse for evidence that a game is not historically authentic. NPC names and graphics? Is this what you value? What a sad argument. A game could be completely text-based, without any graphics at all, and still be historically authentic.
And, that contest it being run by a player guild. The deveopers have nothing to do with it.
What about the game do you enjoy? What type of gameplay does it have?
I could care less about graphics myself, I still have an old DOS system that I still play alot of old games from the early 90s and late 80s on. My main problem with the game is I'm not really into Roman history. But, I am still curious about it. I find it refreshing that someone has tried something different.
The fight begins with the camera focused on Jessaius. Jessaius appears to be having a seizure as his sword jerks wildly back and forth through the air. Meinard seeing his enemy reduced by the severe muscle spasms attacks with a vicious baseball style slid, but Jessaius regains temporary control of his motor skills and manages to leap to the side. Truly this battle will shake the very foundations of the earth. But whats this? It seems that Meinard and Jessaius have ceased hostilities and are beginning some sort of ceremonial dance, or possibly a mating ritual. But with a lightening quick blow Meinard dastardly tries to finish his honorable foe. The fight continues anew as both champions throw themselves back into the fray. The quick sand pit they have chosen to fight in sucks heavily at their boots but that does little to temper their rage. The two demi-gods battle for what seems like a enternity using the ancient art of combat known as "shield fighting", weapons hanging limply in their hands. But great gods, whats this?! The mud seems to have sucked Jessaius down into its depths. Meinard looks blissfully ignorant that his foe has been horribly slain, as he stares blankly at the wooden wall.

Ah, that my friend was indeed a great read! Classic!
I think maybe the devs misunderstood what a sandbox game was actually supposed to be like..It appears they actually put all the characters, buildings and npc's in a virtual sandbox. It looks like the key to winning a fight is to skate upon the surface of the sand longer than your opponent; once you fall down its seemingly impossible to extricate yourself from the sands evil clutches.

Yeah, I was not really into Roman history either, but I do like the era of swords and shields.
Mainly I enjoy RV because It's a sandbox game, with very few rules or restrictions placed upon the players by the developers or game code, a virtual world, you can pretty much do anything you want. There are no quests you have to complete, no special gear you have to obtain, no levels to gain, you can mix and choose any skills you wish to learn and develop them to any level you desire and you can build things anywhere you want within settled locations. Just like in real life, the main challenge and fun is competition and friendship with other players.
By the way, I still play old games too. One of my favorite games of all time, even featuring things such as diet, disease, inebriation, perma death and the need to sleep, things you would have trouble finding in any games today, is Alternate Reality: The City for Atari 800.
My favorite old game I play is Prolly M.U.L.E. for the commador 64. Don't know why I can't get enough of it and yes my old C64 still works so i still get to enjoy this little gem of a game.
RV isn't for me, maybe if it was in a setting I could get into then I'd give it a shot. Like around 1300s scotland or something. ANyway Have fun and don't let the haters get ya down.
I love M.U.L.E. too! Makes use of all four joysticks on an Atari 800! The reason MULE is so good is the gameplay and player competition! Perfect example. Now imagine if you could somehow play MULE online with thousands of players.
Roma Victor does not take place in Rome, it takes place on the battle front in Britannia, Romans vs "Barbarians."

I believe Roma-Victor has a future, albeit a future that changes very..very slowly..
I'm going to help semp out here, worse 'MMO' in graphics, Wurm Online, A tale in the desert. Do I really have to go on? Depending on your flavor of 'beautiful' graphics some people would through all top down 2d games into 'worse' graphics.
Simply put, a game isn't just it's graphics. And gameplay isn't going to compensate either.
Some may also disagree with what i said about wurm and atid BUT
Graphics are art, some like abstract some like detail, some like realistic, some like fake.

Well he's right about no monthly fees. Thank God for that!
But come on man, seriously find us a 3D MMO that has worse graphics.
I'm not trying to bust your nuts here, if you like the game that's great. But you have to admit the graphics are amateurish at best.
