I'm looking for a UO style game, I've played OSI, i've played countless number of free shards all over teh past 7 years. Now I'm just bored of it. I've played eve, wow, matrix online but they just didnt cut it for me.
What I'm looking for it something like UO, something that has a similar crafting/skill system mainly. Doesn't have to be exact but similar. I don't mind if it's 3D or not or if its free or not. I'm about to download saga of ryzom as I've heard its quite good like uo, but I didn't like the look of the interface
So yea.. anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

Total time played: 9125 Days, 21 Hours, 29 Minutes, 27 Seconds

Anyone else with any ideas? Thinking of going back to some free shards for uo and I really don't want to
Wait a few months and see how AoC, LOTRO, and Warhammer look. Not much worth playing right now.
Warhammer and AoC won't be what you're looking for, as they are PvP based games like DAoC.
I wouldn't hold my breath for LORTO, as I forsee it ending up like DDO.
Crafting:
The crafting system is very involving, and required actual thought and decision making as you go through the process. Your active input will determine the quality of the final product, not just the resources you are using.
You'll be able to build houses and stores to sell your goods.
You can also enhance your crafting abilities with better clothes, gear, and tools, which can be made by players.
Another area of crafting is harvesting, of which there are many types. You venture out into the land and find resources to harvest, trees to chop down, skins off animals you kill, mining from rocks, etc.
You can pursue different subgroups of crafting and harvesting, that are kind of like classes. For instance: A harvesting foreman grants quality bonuses to harvested material, while a reaper boosts quantity.
Groups of players can band together and harvest the same node to increase it's yield and make things go faster.
Diplomacy
Diplomacy is another thing where player skill comes into the equation. it is represented as a card game, where you assemble your strategy from cards you've earned and then duel in diplomacy against NPCs.
Diplomats can gain stuff through diplomacy, gain faction, and they have their own quests that revolve around diplomacy.
They have their own skill level with subgroup classes.
Diplomacy can be used to influence towns and give players townwide buffs based on which types of NPCs are influenced.
Skills.
It's not a complete skill based system like UO.
It's a class based system that determines what skills you have access to, but your actual skill level is determined by how much you use certain weapons or abilities.
You get to choose what attributes increase, which varies a bit depending on race.
Ryzom has a pretty good crafting system, but not as good as Vanguard, and the economy is not in very good shape.
It is a totally skill based system, but last I played it lacked balance.
Ryzom has a very low population, has changed ownership, and it's future is uncertain.
I didn't like the style of Ryzom, it had virtually no lore, and it had absolutely zero content. To this day I don't think it has much content either, but it does have a system that lets players create their own quests for others to go through.
