I have not tried the 1950Pro , but I run VG with everything maxed out and 16x anisotropic with a core2duo, 2gb ram and an x1900xt-512.

I don't know if there is a huge difference between the 2 cards though; don't think so.

AMD 3500+, 2 gb mem, x1900gt  (almost a recomended system) = green fps @1280x1024 on balanced with some sliders tweaked up and some down. The x1950 is even a bit faster.

Well i just built a top of the line computer and my wife and son are using my old one to play AMD 3200 ,2 gigs of PC 2700 and a x850 xt and i was playing on the highest quality settings with some sliders turned down and it was great , yes i lagged a bit in city's but i could have turned down my settings quite abit more i was running at 1280 x1024 so that x850 is actually a pretty good card it was working pretty hard though

yeh well i play on the highest settings and my top resolutionn is 1900 x 1200. But my fps sucks a lot of the time out of town its usually in its teens dropping below 10 some of the time. If i did get the x1950 , as its 512mb instead of 256mb also should i be able to max out all the sliders, inc 16x anti too. Atm quite a few of the sliders are not maxed.

Suede maybe the difference between mine and yours is that i have mine at much higher resolution, seem as i have a 24" monitor. If i have anything lot lower then it looks a bit crap.

anyone know what psu i would need for the x1950? I have a 550w and havent had it long. is that adequate?

I would maybe get the gf 8800 bit it says 500w min and 600w recommended. SO not sure how it would runn on 550w.

I'm running everything maxed, as I said, at 1280x1024.

I don't think you can run at 1900x1200 with everything maxed and aniso 16x with anything lower than a geforce 8800 and a dual core cpu.

550W PSU is good enough, I have even been running an x1900xt-512 on another system for more than 1 year with a 450W PSU.

I'm not so sure either. Can't say as I have never tried that card. And your x850xt was the top range card 1 year earlier...

At 1900x1200 you really need a 8800 series card.

taus01 posted this in this thread:

" ... you might want to look into the X1950 Pro (or NVIDIA equivalent), i upgraded from a X800 XT and it simply doubled my framerate. I payed only 160 Euro for mine."

I just recently looked into building  a new system.  I did alot of research into the video cards for it.  I looked at X1900,X1950 & 8800.  I always was a die-hard ATI fan but the 8800 is blowing everything else out of the water right now....but the price shows it.  Now to the 1950 vs. 1900.  The reviews and benchmarks that II have researched showed that the x1950 on slightly increases the performance over a x1900.  Turns out that it is pretty much the same card just faster memory on the card itself.  Now the price....the x1950 is considerablely higher than the x1900.  Most reviews said that the price difference wasn't worth the upgrade to the x1950.

If you can afford it then shell out the extra cash for the 8800....very much worth it.

If you in a bind for cash then I would go with the x1900....imo

    Hopefully this helps some.

PS. Unfortunately, I cannot provide performance data about the game for I do not own it (yet.)  So all this is written without Vanguard in mind.

Does this look good to you? and also what difference would you notice with a 512mb card instead of a 256???
