Hi,
Im just doing the beginners quests for crafting, im now on the assembly part. Ive been given some tool parts that I have to "combine" wity my saw to improve the tool but I aint got a clue how to do it... any ideas??
Do I have to do this before I goto the assembly bench?
My tool parts are in my rucksack while my saw and 2 other tools are in my toolbelt
Thanks

On the topic of noob crafter questions...
Im trying to do the very first crafting quest in the wood elf city. Ive been given the first artificer recipe and some tools and been told to go to the finishing station and use the recipe. So i rigt click the apt station but my recipe does not appear in the menu. I can see the recipe in my abilities window but it doesn't show up on the station menu. So i tried every crafting table in the city but none of them have the recipe for me to use. Am I overlooking something simple? I tried clicking, dragging etc the recipe from my abilities onto the crafting table but nothing seems to happen.
Thanks,
I didnt see that drop down menu earlier...
ok... next one.. I got myself a recipe called weakened board, i need weakened timber (which ive got), and one other weakened secondary component (what is that???) , some cleaner (I got that) and some utilities dust (not got)
ive been to the crafting utilities supplier stood near me but he aint selling the dust so where do I get the dust and also does anyone know what is "one other weakened secondary component"?
Thanks
Just a note to anyone else who has has trouble with the crafting quests, I found the Utilities Dust at an Exotic Parts Vendor or similar, so im just stuck with the weakoned sec component but now I have 3 components I will give it a go at the assembly tables tonight and see what happens.
In the meantime does anyone have any links to and good crafting threads for beginners?
FischerBlack -> I thinkyou may be using the wrong table. If it's an actual item you're making, you need to go to the Artificier Bench (Finishing) and if you're making item parts, you need to go to an Artificier Bench (Refining). Basically theres 3 types of tables you will use. Assembly which is for upgrading pieces like tools and whatnot. Refining is for turning raw resources into useable materials. For example, you can use it to turn Weakened Timber into Weakened Wooden Boards. Finishing is for turning useable materials into items. For example, you could use the Finishing station to turn your weakened wooden boards into a Wooden Club.
Prestonian -> You don't need any type of Attuning Dust or anything like that in a recipe. Those are optional ingredients if you want to make magic items. Most of the time you will be making items without them, and just use those on a special occasion.
Things to make sure you have when you start crafting: Right bench for the job. The required tools. The mandatory components. "Other Items" if you want to deal with complications.
Optional Items: your own resources if you're doing a work order. Dusts or Magic Orbs or whatnot if you're making a magic item.
Note: I'm a Carpenter (Artificier) and when Refining I always try to put Bandages, Water, and Emery on my table. For Finishing I try to put Bandages, Water, and Cleaner on my table (if the recipe uses solvent). These are the most common pieces I've found to be needed in the lower levels.

Thanks for the help Blurr. I tried all the tables on both levels and couldn't get anything to work - so I rolled a gnome cleric to try see if I could get crafting to work in another area...and its a breaze! I repeated what i did as a gnome with my wood-elf toon, but the recipe just does not show up where it should be. Perhaps its a bug? It would seem that if every wood-elf artificer couldn't complete the first recipe it would be a well known issue and i cant find any threads on it...so i dunno? Anyway Im a level 4 crafter now and enjoying it immensly
