My new rig.

I didn't upgrade my rig just to play Vanguard.  I needed to build a new pc anyway.  I am not posting this to brag about it.   I just want some feedback from some of the tech savvy people on these forums.  Thanks.

Here it is my specs.  Let me know what you think.  This will be ran on WinXP Pro.  I don't really like vista right now.

Antec P180 Silver Case

Antec 550 SLI PSU

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz S AM2

MSI K9N4 SLI-F Socket AM2 NVidia nForce 500

2x - G.Skill (2x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800Mhz Duel channel.  Timing 5-5-5-12  going to clock it to 4-4-4-12

XFX NVidia GeForce 8800GTX

$1564.94 ... I think that's a good price for an upgraded PC.

It looks allright , you should be able to play most games without anything, however i would personaly have gone with intels core 2 duo, perhaps even the quad core,  but i guess thats just a personal taste :)

Also the r600 should come out "soon" and from what ive read it should be 2x times better then the 8800gtx and take up less power. but thats the thing with hardware, you can always "wait " fomr something better to come just around the cornor.

550 watt should be plenty for this rig (seeing as its a good brand PSU).  Total power draw would struggle to get close to 400 watt.  800 Watt PSU is overkill for anything but someone with a *tonne* of crap in their system like GTX SLI and some mass raid array.

And its not all about the watt - its how you use it that counts

Seriously its a little tiring to see countless posts all over the internet of people recommending 750watt/800 watt PSU's for systems that will never ever hit half that load.  As long as its a good quality PSU that exceeds theoretical max system load by a comfortable amount, you're fine.
