But if I had to recommend any of them I'd say Leonard Cohen. He was a novelist and poet before he was a songwriter, so his lyrics are of a higher quality than most.

Disturbed, Godsmack, Mudvayne, and Zombie (Either era) is good. I like Tool too, but thats sort of a different type rock (Subliminal, sort of) than the other ones. I say this because last night I listened to 10,000 Days all the way through, and it was one of the most calming experiences I've had in a while, wheras, I can't listen to most Disturbed songs and not get fired up about something.
