Now we can really see what DX10 brings to the game

That's actually more impressive than I would have imagined. There may even be some reasonable priced DX10 card out by the time this game is released. If not the plain old dx9 shots looked more than good enough, better than any MMO I've seen yet.
Looks really nice.
I'm glad they postponed the game to Oct. I can save up for my new rig while they polish the game. The timing will be perfect.
I really hope my university starts offering Vista for 45 bucks before I graduate
Retired from WoW
Rebellion - 60 Warlock || Kalaa - 60 Warrior
Littlerebel - 60 Hunter || Albie - 60 Shaman
Played: Erm, a lot more.
While Direct X10 may look better because they program the special effects 'better' (these effects are possible in DX9 but its so damn unwieldy sometimes and most machines that aren't Vista compat can't play them anyway) you still have to
1. Have a computer that can run Vista (because a 1 gig or less machine thats not a 2.0Ghz or equiv won't cut it and a small hard drive forget it. Vista uses up more than previous windows especially if you want to use all those nifty gui features they stole from Mac)
2. Have a compatible sound card. Why you ask? Because Windows Vista (or rather DirectSound 10)does NOT support hardware accelerated sound or EAX, they removed access to the kernall. So even the most advanced DX9 game would suddenly sound like ass unless you have some sort of onboard sound(which would still sound like ass). Creative and other sound card companies that use hardware acceleration / EAX are currently working on drivers that would work around this issue but its nearly a year away before we see those solutions. http://pc.ign.com/articles/759/759538p1.html
3. If you use any software or games that aren't "microsoft" approved (meaning any free tool you might download etc) will not be properly loaded onto the system and stunted to some special folder or may not even work at all.
Its probably safer to get Vista around SP 1 or SP2 I don't care hwo much 'better' Vista is than all previous versions of Windows, there's always someone out there that can point out every port flaw Windows leaves open for hackers to eat at and Microsoft just takes their jim dandy time fixing it. So far its been considered a smooth ride of a launch despite possible hardware / driver conflicts the usual for new window launches http://gear.ign.com/articles/759/759487p1.html
While I think the removal of all the bad legacy code by starting over is a great idea I'm still not ready to give Microsoft hundreds of bucks for something brand new that probably needs some time on the market getting cleaned up(Microsoft paid beta just like mmos at launc). Once I do get it I think im gonna finally buy that additional 2 gigs my system can carry.

Jeeeez. LOL. I guess we'll see. I might just upgrade to a higher Dx9 version graphic card.
Total time played: 9125 Days, 21 Hours, 29 Minutes, 27 Seconds
Time played this level: 39 Days, 1 Hour, 24 Minutes, 5 Seconds
Wery nice look:D

Age of Conan actually looks pretty good too.
is trailer
If you are running Windows XP, you will never have DX10 [period]. You must have Vista and a DX10 video card, like nvidia's 8800 series, to run a DX10 game.
Yes, it's true, THQ will be releasing a DX10 patch in March for Company of Heroes to enable it to run in DX10. The bottom line is, you will still have to be running Vista and a DX10 video card. The DX10 patch is not for XP and will not work on XP- you'll still be playing it in DX9.
There will be another form of DX called DX9.0L which will run DX10 games, like Crysis, on Windows XP. You still won't get the benefits of DX10, but you'll be able to play the game. I guess it's kind of like playing your mp3 player through an FM modulator on your car stereo. You can listen to the music, but it doesn't sound as good as plugging it directly into your stereo.
Uhmmm... Yeah I know you can't have DX10 with XP. I'm sure we're all aware of that.
I was just saying you don't have to have DX10 to play the game.
Actually, Microsoft changed that.

Simply put, DX10 games won't run on DX9 at all.. It won't be compatible anymore since DX10. However, gamedevelopers can ofcourse choose to code their game in a way that it has a DX9 part and DX10 part.
I once did a shit. I looked, it was better than this pos. all characters I see use feathers on helm? GG funcom you really screw it this time.
Plus when u run the game at 40 fps on XP, and on Vista the game will run at 35, you wont notice the difference :P.
