What server to join ?

OddinOddin Member UncommonPosts: 16

Hey !

I've tought I'd come back to camelot since I find every other games so damn boring. I'm really into pvp and I played for quite a long time at Europe servers until I didnt have really much sparetime (it was about the same time Toa came out) so I was kinda forced to quit. I see that europe servers are lackin people  veeery badly now and well, it seems the population is badly down at us servers too. So, I want a honest opinion on what us CLASSIC server I should join and what realm really lacks people (I could use that nice lvl boos ;) ) Or is there any people here who still play on europe servers that could try to lure me to join the eu servers ;)

Next question is that is there many european players still playing at us servers ? Since I work at days and well need sleep at night's i wouldnt be able to play with us players on the peaktimes but only on weekends, will I find anyone to play with ? Well Really looking forward to meet you possibly. Maby I should try the trial and see.

Well if you made it this far thanks for reading and Special thanks if you can provide some info for me :)

Mis is least populated on almost all of the servers.  Gareth has the highest population for the classic servers.

Gareth is clustered with two others (Lamorak and Ector) so it really doesn't matter which one you join, you'll be able to easily transfer between the 3 servers at any time.  Lots of European players on this cluster, BG's are always busy during GMT times....

Only consideration is housing, house merchants,  and hearth bind stones.  You can only purchase housing on the server that your character starts on.  So if you want a house on Gareth (the busiest server) then you'll want to create your character on it.

But... lots on Gareth sell at a huge premium... most never drop in price much below 14 plat or so.... while on Ector you can pick up a plot for 1 gold or so. (of course, you'll have fewer customers looking at your merchants, since they aren't linked and player have to actually port between servers to find items. (which I always did, got some great deals on Lamorak in particular)

Also, if your account is old enough, when you come back you'll get some free bindstones that you can use to return to your last bind point, guild house bind point, and for the character that actually owns the house, a return to personal house bind stone.

a house on ector or lamorak is more realistic - very hard to find on gareth and more than very expensive by comparison to the other 2 on the cluster

You might want to consider normal servers aswell. ToA isn't all that bad these days, especially if you join an active guild alliance.

I decide to create a savage(Yes.. You heard it right) on Carleon cluster to check out ToA. During this week I have done the battlegroup(think of a raid group) steps of Master Level trials up to ML8,and yesterday they did ML9-10(I believe). To be more exact, in 3 nights we had done battlegroup steps  ML1-8 and I had advanced to ML3 and I just need to do the group steps of ML4 to ding. Doing the normal group steps shouldn't be much problem either if you join an active guild. You can usually gain the the experience for your MLs during that one night or even during the battlegroup steps of that one ML.

I don't have much experience of the artifacts yet but again, getting atleast the credit for them isn't problem if you join active guild. Biggest problem might be the scrolls for them, as some of them can be pretty rare while others might drop all the time. I don't believe getting exp for them isn't very hard either, you can just join those ML trials and collect exp there or try grouping with people in NF and gain the exp that way.

Overall, I'd say the biggest problem or complaint is the buffbots, seems like they are the answer to all, especially for soloing some of the artifact encounters or collecting scrolls. I have done pretty well so far without one as I don't have a second computer nor is my current one good enough to keep 2 clients running(I haven't actually tried, but I believe so). But sometimes your groupmate(s) might have a bot in their disposal so problem solved :p

That's all I had in my mind for now of my experiences. Hope this gives some insight to people of the current state of ToA.

I agree buffbots are a big complaint of mine too - esp since I  like to play druids, bards, shammy's clerics, healers -  however we will always have them since Mythic makes money by  us having them.  Yes, they have them on Classic too - they just  auto follow the group.

Getting into a good guild with an active /as is always the best whatever server you play.

Regular servers are so much different than when others left complaining about ToA.   Nice to see a positive post about them for a change.
