All he needs is a new video card. I would recommend an ATI X800 pro or better. I have an ATI and I just have not had as many problems as some people with Nvidia cards. If you really want Nvidia just get the best card you can for the price you can pay and you will be playing on highest quality, provided you tweak the client file slightly.

    "Dude, your friend in Screwed!"

Ok, seriously, Dell's have upgrade issues, just an FYI. I'd go with a GeForce 7x00 GT 512mb. Good, cheap, bang for the buck IMO.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

I had to upgrade my video card as well to play VG, i went ahead and picked up a 7900gs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133186

this one to be exact, and it plays VG fine, maybe not perfect with everything all maxed out, but it plays it fine, graphics on high quality setting...

    Firstly:

    Secondly:

How much RAM is that video card?

What sort of interface can the computer take? PCI? AGP?

The BFG GeForce 6200 is a 256 MB and is midpriced at around $155. It only has a PCI interface.

I went with the newegg bargain-bin $120  x1650pro. Runs very well with the far plane clipping maxed (or whatever its called). I just keep the grass density turned down, and most everything else maxed out.

I would recommend the XFX geForce 7900 XXX w/256Mb.  It's about 175-200 from tiger direct or newegg.com.  My wife uses one and it's really nice.  Probably the best for that kind of money.

Keep in mind, thousandths digit (for both ATI and Nvidia) is the model number, and the hundredths digit in the card model (for ATI and Nvidia) is the model within... the higher that digit the more suitable for gaming it is.

6200, 7300, etc... are typically for business machines, while the 6800, 7900, etc.  are gaming cards.

My PCIe 7900 was ~$140 from Newegg in December, and it works great with Vanguard.
