i used to play ffxi and i wanna start it back up again really bad. i lost my old account so i would have to start all over again from lvl 1. im wondering if it is too late to start ffxi again cus i wont be able to get anywere on it and i wont be able to get a grp. if its not too late to start, whats a good and high populated server that i will be able to get low lvl groups on??
Comments
The game's population is fine at all levels.
i find hardly no groups with my whm18/blm 9.so i spent most of the time soloing easy stuff.most ppl i see lfg are in 50+range.
I just took thief, ranger, and ninja from 1 to 37 in the last month...
Never had a problem finding groups.
well yeah getting a job to 37 is still easy. But when you try to get it higher you'll see what coming late to the game means. Of course with some jobs it's stil easy (RDM, WHM, PLD, BRD) but otherwise be ready for looong wait for invite.
PS: situation may differ from server to server. I play(ed?) on Bismarck
forget about how hard is it to get a group and exping
the main thing is...it is almost impossible to get help in Rise of the Zilart & Chains of Promathia missions cuz every one allready did it!
the only one wants to do it is the new players and they are not to many of them.
well its never to late to start it but it may be too late to start it with a community starting out since a lot of peeps are high or quit.
If you wanna pt, i'm Shazamalicious on Bismarck
Limonah, I guess servers are different on this too. I see people yelling for CoP missions all the time.
EVE - Sharvala
FFXI - Shazamalicious
Guild Wars - Xavier Lucifer & Charlize the Necro
"Ranged...stuck...tree...15 random words... suck... noob fanboy... I MAKE GUIDE!"
starting march 8th you'll be able to chose your sever though (so they say) so no more random server

I Play on Alexander server, and in the past few months, ive taken, NIN from 10-37 BRD from 1-30, BLM for 32-37, WHM from 25-50 and DRG from 60-70, not once did I have trouble finding a party, i know quite a few people who have just recently started, and than there are also veterans who are starting new jobs, theres rarely ever ne trouble finding, or creating a party, except for DRG, or in the 65-70 range, never seem to be any refreshers seeking XP lol but yeah, like someone else mentioned, it depends on the server. I personally think it wouldnt be a bad time to start right now, might as well start before theres an inflation in the economy right? =P
If you decide to start, and are on the Alexander server look up Tohma, im a 75RDM and ill be glad to help you in starting out ^^b.
EDIT: You do not need to know japanese to play this game, there are just as many, if not more, North American players, than there are Japanese. Also, if you wind up in a JP party, there is an Auto Translate Function, so you can still communicate

FFXI-2? Do you have any details? Proof? Links?
Last summer SE denied plans for a FFXI-2. This is a press release from Square-Enix, you can find it at http://www.square-enix.com/jp/company/e/news/2006/download/release_060718en.pdf
Here's the press release, check the link above for yourself if you suspect that I have edited something. The only thing I edited, was underlining the most important quotes. And notice, this press release came AFTER the last expansion, still SE say they plan to release more expansions (even PLURAL = more than one). So on what bases can you say "counting the days it has left"?
This is the press release:
[Tokyo, Japan (July 18, 2006) - Square Enix Co., Ltd (“the Company”). wishes to comment on a
specific media report, dated July 14, stating that the Company is developing a sequel to its online
game title, FINAL FANTASY® XI, and plans to release the title on three platforms
PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the
Xbox 360
operating system from Microsoft Corporation.
The Company did not make such an announcement and has not made any decisions resembling
those detailed in the media report.
As the Company announced in May 2005, it is currently developing an online title for
next-generation platforms including game consoles and PCs; however, this title is being developed as
a completely new MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online RPG). We will disclose further details of
this title, including platform compatibility, immediately after any relevant decisions are made.
In addition, the Company continuously plans to release expansion packs for FINAL FANTASY XI,
available on PlayStation®2, Xbox 360, and Windows®, as well as perform version updates.

i heard a lot of good reviews and that now this is a good time to start up so im going with what people say and hopefully it wont let me down
I played once upon a time on titan server. I really loved FFXI and had a solid linkshell. I do miss playing it from time to time but I'll never be back. I miss the feeling I had while playing when I first started, worked my way up the levels, capped my first job, got rank ten, etc etc. I DON'T miss taking ranger to 75 and having it nerfed into the stone age, watching the economy crumble (I remember when emp hairpin was 250k, it was like 2mill when I left) and I certainly don't miss gilselling NM campers. I don't miss sitting in jeuno waiting for a group for hours or greedy people in sky raids.
I must say however FFXI has a lot of class, well atleast the experiences on my server. Unlike games like WoW and GW, I didn't have people begging me for money 4-5 times a playing session. I also liked FFXI's story line as you work your way from rank 1 to rank 10 and become a national hero. (my only gripe being due to how long it takes to get from 1-75 it puts a long space between story chapters) You can also do the other story lines of the expansions. It really made you feel like you were part of the game.
