Microsoft Takes the MU to a Whole New Level




Marvelites beware! Your head just might explode upon hearing the news about the hugely anticipated massively multiplayer online (MMO) that will put you right in the heart of the Marvel Universe! Vice President of Marvel Interactive, Ames Kirshen, had this to say about the mind-blowing project:
"We are thrilled to finally be able to share the news that Cryptic Studios is the developer on the Marvel Universe Massively Multiplayer Online game. The trio of Marvel, Microsoft and Cryptic is truly a dream team combination and we are committed to delivering a ground breaking interactive experience drawing from Marvel's vast and diverse Universe of characters, locations, and timeless fiction that we believe will redefine the MMO space."

"The vision behind the alliance of Microsoft Game Studios, Cryptic Studios and Marvel is to expand the MMO genre and create an epic gaming experience exclusively for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista gamers to experience together online," said Frank Pape, senior director of business development, Microsoft Game Studios. "Cryptic Studios is widely respected for their established track record of innovation and understanding of the MMO space, and they are a perfect fit for the creation of the best possible experience in 'Marvel Universe Online.'"

    This is news? This has been common knowledge for a month or two...although, thank you for posting it and getting the masses up to date.

    I think that this is going to end up like CoH in the Marvel Universe...you won't actually ever get to play any of your favorite Marvel Heroes. Unless the graphics and gameplay are head and tails above Coh I myself will pass. Though I will keep a watchful eye on developement.

    Besides, everything will be Vista by the time these new MMORPG's come out.

    ugggh and i was looking forward to it..but i have to have vista or 360....blah...oh well....guess it wont be me (unless they manage to majorly fix vista( Lol dude chill, game wont be out for at least 2-3 years so Im sure you will beable to upgrade to a fully funtional windows vista by then.

    CoH was done fantasticly by cryptic, Im sure this will get done right.

    Eh Vista's just under 2 weeks old? Lots of drivers need to catch up and another service pack. That's all crap that can get done in 6 months.

    I'm glad to see the combo.

    Dunno if it's enough to get me off the City of games tho'.

    I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.

    hehehe well... pffffffft. i am a huge marvel fan...and was looking forward to it...but as of now vista would just kill it for me, and i am CERTAINLY not buying a 360 lol :)

    and i love cryptic studios, just as it stands now it wont be for me...maybe in 3yrs i'll change my mind :)

    DAMMIT!!!  I was really looking forward to being Howard the Duck...or perhaps Speedball if there were too many Howards running about...
