I resubbed last night

Wow! Talk about bringing back memories. I am a vet. My acct started in November of 1997. I have had my problems and fun with UO. I finally laid the sword to rest back in the summer of 2004 and my friend took my acct along with his. Well, since then I played about a year in SWG and a few months with Ryzom and lastly CoH/CoV.



I did not realize how outdated the graphics are, but of course, graphics aren't the fore-runner for me in games. UO is considered the "father of MMORPG" and a great game it was.



With that said, I didn't have a chance to do alot of adventuring so may I ask, are there still people playing? Is there anything in the future of this game?

    Yes and yes. Allthough its not as crowded as it used to be, i find europa to be quite a populated server. I recently resubbed as well, and i'm liking it this far. PvP is dead though, but once you get over that, there's a lot of new stuff out to explore.

    I play on the Catskills server. Still alot of houses to be none on.

    Atlantic chesepeake pacific and Europa are probabally the 4 most populated english speaking shards atm.  Pvp isnt dead on most servers, especially if you know where to look.  Prolly if u want high population, you should choose whichever is closest to you so as to get the least lagg . However, it has changed and is to a less massive scale. What tranquility is trying to say is that its either noobs dueling or huge gankfests with  fare more blues than reds : (. However, if you know where to go the pvp can still be nearly as good as it was in 99

    basically the population in Felluca is none existence.  PvP is so unbalanced, everytime EA tried to balance it, another gets the advantage.  The pvp has looting still, but don't expect to get much because of the item insurance.

    I recently subscribed also, I was a member from 98, it certainly brings back memories. I am looking forward to the Kingdom Reborn update. Its the best of all the MMORPG's out there by far so it will be nice to see the graphic upgrades in KR.

    Don't forget that 50% of UO's playerbase is in Asia.



    And UO's playerbase is estimated to be about 150.000 acounts and maybe as low as 75.000 players, though my guess is 100.000-120.000 individual players.



    On all shards you can find free housing spots even on Trammel.

    I also resubbed a few days ago after a 3 years layoff.  I started playing back in 97 so yeah alot of good times to remember.  And hopefully with the new expansion pac and graphics should be a good time.  Now if I can just get my house LOL.  Or better yet let us use tents.

    So what shard did you all re-sub on?  Just kind of curious, thinking about checking the new KR graphics out when they hit.  I think it would be fun to group up together.

    Yeah its been 3 years also for me, my house was in fel but it had gone when i got there, but quickly got myself one in tram. Iam on the Europa shard

    Well most of my toons are on Pacfic but I am looking at other shards.  Anyone  have any ideas?

    The sad part is even though UO  was a great  game of the past. people are still considering playing. It points to the really sad state of MMO's atm. You would think by now they would have taken a game like OU and brought it up to date, but nope all we keep getting is the same ole worn out crap over and over
