Question about the Pre-order

MaeEyeMaeEye Member UncommonPosts: 1,108
On the lotro site, it states that if you pre order the game, you get a $9.99 monthly charge.  Now, is that 9.99 a forever charge a month?  or is it only for a few months?

That would be so kick ass if it was only 9.99 a month forever.

From the way it reads, it's a Founder's rate. so $9.99/month for the account.

Or pay the 1-time $199 lifetime

    There is 2 versions.

    EU and a US version.

Both have different monthly charges and differetn charge for the lifetime accounts.

If you buy the EU version you can't play on US servers and the other way around.

If you’re interested in the game, I highly suggest going for the 9.99/month deal. The $199 lifetime I’d be weary of – while I love the game, the MMO industry is in a serious boom. Paying $199 pretty much seals you down for just over two years and in that time, who knows what could happen. For hardcore LotRO fans it’s a great deal, for me not so much because I CAN see myself get bored and want something new [like whatever BioWare/Pandemic are cooking up :D ].

What I’m wondering is if I have to order it online, because Canada as far as I can tell does not have a GameStop and the guys at EB are generally clueless, at least the EB’s around me. I’m fairly certain I want to be a founder for this game but if anyone else from Canada knows how to accomplish this for certain, please let me know and I’ll see you in game [Murtagh] :)

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

I am very interested in the game.  I was invited to Closed beta but I did not, at the time, have time for it.  Since then, I've lost the client and I've lost  my username/password.  I always try games out before buying them.  I want to make sure, just one last time, that this will be my game for a year or so before purchasing.

As for you, I think if you order it online, maybe from lotro.com's main site, they will lead you to like gamestop or EB games.  I'm sure if you order it online that you will be a founder.  More than likely.
