I was recently thinking of downloading Linux on my unused second partition, but when I went to download the distribution that I wanted, only one of the mirrors in the US was http, and when I clicked on it it gave me a 404. I am unable to perform FTP transactions through Firefox, so I'm currently looking for an FTP client that doesn't cost anything.
Does anybody know of any such clients?

I concur on FileZilla. It also supports FTP over SSH2 which is nice.

FTP = File Ttransfer Protocol
works the same was "my documents" does, you open the folder, and from there you can move, copy, etc, ftp allows you to do this over the net by connectiong to the ip address of a computer. basically like sticking your hand out your window, streching it to korea and copying a folder there and bringing it back with out a normal windows doanload screen
