Dev in BoB cheating confirmed by CCP

GamragGamrag Member Posts: 47
It's up on the dev blog.  CCP has admitted that a dev who was a member of BoB did cheat to obtain BPOs. Those BPOs will be returned.

So all the talk that there were devs in BoB who were cheating to give the alliance an unfair advantage is true. Very unfortunate indeed.

You're being pretty leberal with the wording, aren't you?

Sounds to me like there was 1 dev, t20, not "devs".

And as t20 stated, most of the allegations made were untrue.

Rather than editorializing and giving your own spin, why not just pos the link (appreciated) and let us read for ourselves?

    Thanks.

Nothing he said there was liberally worded.  He said the rumor was 'devs', but when he talked about the facts, he said 'a dev'.  He also said t20 got BPOs and did not say anything else.

Lastly, t20 said they were untrue, well they used to say *all* of the allegations were untrue and it turns out 1 was definately true.  Bottom line is that I don't trust these guys as far as I can throw them any more than any player in this game.

I would consider all ot that liberally worded.

    Better would have been.

So all the talk that there were devs in BoB who were cheating to give the alliance an unfair advantage has Turned out to be: A dev who abused a system to give himself an advantage, it is sad that some of the alligations turned out to be true.

see that is not liberally worded as it says exactly what it was.

If you don't trust any DEV's, then how much more reason do you need to not play Eve?

Anyone who doesn't like us cheating, we are DEV's afterall, Nerfs for all?

And yes, salvaging is a nerf.   Salvaging:  be bored or have weaker ships than your enemy......

Why am I to believe a liar and a cheat that this is an isolated incident?  I feel all of CCP are liars and cheats, the entire game is a big scam, and their record is tarnished beyond repair....

At least I left the game before it goes down in flames......

    ==========================
The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

    Very disappointing that they:

    - never found out by themselves

    - banned those who reported the abuse both in this case and in the earlier case where a GM was caught spawning Estamel's items worth billions for himself

    - only admitted to the abuse after a huge outcry on their forums

I don't know what more to say, I'm gutted by the gross lack of respect and honesty by the CCP folks ...

PS. ah yes, they are also quietly deleting every post that reminds them of their misconduct ...

This was all bound to happen sooner or later. If you go back through EVE's history since the very beginning, incidents of privilege abuse have been relatively rampant and never addressed.

It's all a shame though, since EVE is truly a fantastic game. The problem is that players really need to start playing with their eyes wide open - the playing field isn't as level as one might think or hope.

EDIT: With regards to the "get over it" crowd, they're forgetting one important facet to this all. For the average player, many of the incidents don't really affect them (which is why the EVE bottom line probably won't suffer much). However, for anyone who plays the next level of the game in 0.0, it has the potential to have serious ripple effects.
