If they do add housing, chances are they will make it instanced, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of having it in the first place. Most people would likely want houses in the game, where people can see it and leave their mark on the worldscape. It helps you immerse and gives your character more depth and an actual presence in the game world. You just can't get that with instancing and considering all the buildings they have at present require zoning, you won't see any real housing.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
Also with the professions, it'd be great if each player's home could have something such as a Forge for the smiths or a plot of land for the farmers. Guild Halls would be amazing too... and I wouldn't have you be able to just 'buy a house' I'd have it as something where crafters can build things you need for a house, thus adding to the economy of the game and once you get all those quest objectives to fully build a house, then you can finally have one. But I think Turbine is going more for an 'entertainment' factor rather than a 'simulated life' with LotRO if you know what I mean. Still, who knows what the future holds.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
