T20 case and freedom of speech

diorccdiorcc Member UncommonPosts: 9

Your decision not to allow players to speak their mind will do more damage than you think. I hate to see threads being locked because the corruption discussion. E-mailing Kieron will really not help them express their opinion openly or vent, at least not here. Which will simply result in players posting in their own eve-related forums/communities and doing you a lot of unanswered damage there.
I found out about this case by reading http://www.escapistmagazine.com from a corp's personal community forum.
If you muffle people here, they will speak elsewhere, and speak harshly.

It is your own responsibility and fault, the corruption cases that have so far occured. In my time here I have heard of 3 major ones and really heard no real action against them. Some have not actually been reversed giving the said cheaters huge advantages over others.

I feel overwhelmed, and find it really pointless to even login unless I hear a definitive result. Many share the same feeling and rightly so. If you muffle my post claiming I broke the code of conduct or anything else... I've kept a copy off-community. Seems its the only way to get your voice across.

Yea, I'm still in shock over how CCP has locked the main thread, not responded anymore on the subject and are now locking/deleting any new threads that are generated. I think CCP has basically told us (to borrow a phrase from BOB) proof or STFU.

Well, the only means now for the playerbase to show their displeasure is to cancel their accounts. Which I have done by canceling my 2 accounts. I've even went so far to send an email to White Wolf games (who CCP has recently announced they are merging with to develop more online games with) a letter of my displeasure.

Did you by any chance mean to type the word "vulture"?

    If so, then I accept!

Oh, since this is a freedom of speech thread, I'm sure the OP wouldn't mind if it was used for anything EVE related.

Got an interesting EVE story?  Post it here!

Got an amusing anecdote about your activities with your corp last night?

Need to work on your main's bio?Got a gripe about your mate/boy/girl friend?  (oops sorry, that one's off topic)

But for anything EVE related, post here now, this is after all, freedom of speech, and this is an EVE fansite, so here is the place, and now is the time!
  • diorccdiorcc Member UncommonPosts: 9
Sure why not lets hear it...
But you cant say anything about X Y or Z!!!
Or you will be banzored :P
  • EschiavaEschiava Member Posts: 485
All right, that's it!  He mentioned not only X, but Y AND Z as well!  Ban him, ban him I say!

Well.. Freedom of Speech on a privately ( non Federal) funded Messageboard? hehehehe.... funny joke.

But, yea.. i agree, the general notion of sweeping it under the rug isnt the greatest PR move.

I've gone ahead and canceled my two accounts because of this.  Until the Dev responsible (CCP T20) are fired and the censorship stops I will not play EVE.  How many others have canceled because of this?

Well well well, this really is funny stuff to read.  Doesn't surprise me, i played eve since release, stopped aout 2 years ago.  Worked within the volunteer department (ISD) and once upon a time, i got given eight titans on the test server by a GM (This was in no way anything to do with ISD or me).   We had a titan fight which last about an hour, then the gm's came along and blew us up.  The GM didn't get kicked out then, though i think he left later on.  I half expected the other 4 titans in my assets to dissapear, but for a good few months, they were still there.  This was before all the titan changes.

So it really doesn't surprise me and i doubt i can say anything more than that.  But thankgod for freedom of speech!  I think i remember a similair account years ago as well.  Though its hard to, ah yes, the t2 blueprints, some of those dropped that weren't supposed to, wasn't a massive scandal, but someone fluffed it i know that much.

Wow, ive counted so many threads locked and then deleted in the last 30 mins on the eve forums, people are pissed about this
  • Ashton692Ashton692 Member Posts: 138

I had some real hope when CCP opened a new thread and asked for our feedback.

But it seems that after 106 pages of posts they have just locked it... with the only statement being "let's all move on now."

The community is outraged.  I'm curious to see if this will be breezed over... or whether this is a game breaker.  Hard to say either way at this poing.

Well, I think they just stopped locking threads and posts... and started deleting them.  They've deleted 2 of my posts so far which just MENTIONED the "topic one shall not discuss", and included on topic stuff as well.  They went from unreasonable to draconian.

Woah another post similar to mine got owned, took them a lot more time to get to it though, sadly I didn't copy the guy's post :/
Too bad he made the same points but bothered to convey them better.

The more EVE's players get away from the original core, the more CCP starts to resemble SOE I guess.

I always suspected core CCP staff were getting burned out on their own business back in 2004.  But, there has been something of a revival with new blood in the last year or so though, and the game continues to get better and thrive, notably long after this little event had been done and forgotten.

Now personally, these events don't really bother me, but I can understand the attitude of those whom it does.  If you are not currently invested in EVE and friends there, and this sort of thing bothers you, I encourage you to vote with your wallets by not subscribing to send a pointed message to CCP that they need to be observing and experiencing game play rather than directing it; present, but hands off.   If it doesn't bother you, subscribe and enjoy the game.

I've pretty much played since day 1 in the belief that CCP holds a "nerf player" button over every account.  I imagine I have said a thing or two to make them push that button.   However, there's pretty much no reward that they can hand out that I really care about, or have made as my goal in EVE.  I could certainly make use of those rewards, but they are not critical.

Hell, this is T20 we're talking about.  You kinda expect boneheaded stuff from him.  If I'd a heard about it on the sly, it's really the sort of thing that woulda made me say "lol, whatever."  There are thousands and thousands of bpos afterall, and it's just numbers on a database somewhere.  The real things that matters are the allegiances of players, and the ability to capitalize on their availability.

Learn from us SWG vets.  Everyone in MMORPGs knows what happened to us, even my cousin who is a WoW nooblet.  Your voice is not tied to those boards.

1- Hit the game rating sites.

    2- Hit the online retailors.

3- E-mail the entertainment sections of newspapers.

Make CCP address the issue or suffer (like SWG suffers now).  Your on the internet baby, your voice is limitless here.   Devs still have not learned, yes you may have developed the game, BUT IT IS OUR GAME!  NOT JUST YOURS!

    Power to the players!

--In MMORPG's l007 is the opiate of the masses.
--The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence!
--CCP could cut off an Eve player's fun bits, and that player would say that it was good CCP did that.

I'm a card carrying member of the SOE haters club and agree 100% with you. I left SWG before the CU and went to EVE, I thought CCP held itself to a higher standard than other companies but it seems I was mistaken. I'll probably continue to play for now but am looking for a replacement already (STO maybe), unless CCP decide to do what's right.

SOE killed SWG and their reputation themselves however it was the SWG fanbase that they spat on that put the nails in the coffin and never let Smedley or the rest of the MMORPG world forget it to this day. Unless CCP do the right thing and apease the fanbase I shall be joining the crusade to bring back justice and vanquish the BoB scum that has pollouted the game alongside the corrupt DEVS.

After reading the above and finally being able to speak my mind on that thread.
I am more convinced that CCP is taking this seriously and after reading the
watcher's (Internal Affairs) introduction blog I am hopeful things as such
    will no longer happen.

I've decided to stay in the game, and I think so should you if
you do really like eve. Go say your opinion and ask a useful
question that hasn't be asked... finally we can speak, which is good.
