Project Visitor aka 10Six

Anyone remember the old school heat.net website? It was shut down years ago but i remember spending alot of time on that gaming site. Well heat.net created an original game back in the day called 10six. Later Sega.net bought the rights to 10six and tried running the game and charging people,

Well 10six is back under a new name. The name is Project Visitor. Info and screen shots can be found at www.projectvisitor.com. U will not find any other game like this anywhere. It has an economy, war, guilds known as MDN's (Mutual Defense Networks).

The moto for the game is OWN MINE DEFEND ATTACK. You claim camps then build turrets to protect them which is an art to defending your profits. You make Vistior money by selling Transium which u mine from your camps.

Another aspect of the game is the combat. You can get your turrets 3 ways. You can buy jitter packs and hope u get the stuff u want, U can buy from other players, or u can Raid with rovers and kill turrets and take them. There are many rover types and many different things u can do to the rovers. For example are u going to raid the camp with Line of Sight rovers or u gonna sit in the hills and use artillery? It takes alot of strategy to raid. Many people use ventrillo to coordinate raiding. SOme camps take more than 1 raider to conquer.

There are 4 Corporations to choose from in Project Visitor.

Extreme Corporation- Specializes in fast moving rovers and Flame weapons.

Brute Force- Specializes in Ballistic Rovers, and More Tank style rovers. Also uses Stealth Modofications.

Toyco Corporation- Specializes in flying rovers, and Beam weapons.

Infrastructure Corporation- Specializes in Self healing, tank rovers and specializes in Lightning technology.

The 4 corporations do create good fighting and good trading. Other corps need other corps goods. Creates a very nice economy. When something isnt selling and u have expect to get a nice profit.

The Community- There is always someone online willing to help. Most of the players playing have been playin since beta which was many years ago. They are friendly and u can expect as much help as u need. Most MDN's will accept u and show you the ropes.

Game Updates- Game updates are being pushed out regularly fixing many old bugs and introducing new things into Project Visitor. For example sooon to be released is an Auto TU System which automatically makes money for the player instead of having to go camp to camp and selling TU (transium) manually. Should be a good change to game and will make alot of people more active.

Ive been playing this game forever and i can honnestly say I have never played anything like it. The game is pretty old so dont expect much from the graphics but believe me the game play is one of a kind. Where else can u find a RTS, MMORPG, FPS? All in one?

The major bad thing is the game has no free trial. In the past when free trials happened the in game economy was ruined. Each month the game is $12.50 and there is a 1 time account creation fee of a $1.  There is also I believe an option for a week trial for cheap.

I mean it when i say this game is one of a kind. Just check out the website register and snoop around the boards. If u wanna see in game videos of the game check You Tube, Google Video etc. Just type in Project Visitor. Once again dont judge on graphics at the least buy a trial period and check the gameplay for yourself.

I am not the owner of the game and i am not trying to get money i assure you. Im just a long time player of 10six/Project Visitor. Ive loved the game since i was in middle school and now im a Freshman in College. This is one of the only games i have never gotten tired of.

My in game name is PimpDaddy54 and Im a member of the Extreme Corporation. IF u have any questions i will do my best to answer them. Now go get a credit card and get into Project Visitor! A whole new planet awaits!

1$ to setup account and 12$ to play? i guess they've never heard of a free trial...i dont believe in paying for a game unless i have played the free trial.
  • SirShaun10SirShaun10 Member Posts: 15
Free trials kill the games economy. Say limited supply of artillery turrets are selling then everyone makes a trial account and then the eeconomy is ruined.
  • tubelighttubelight Member UncommonPosts: 276
free trials can be given limits. If the devs want more players and hence more money then i think you should suggest them to start offering a free trial. Many people here have been burned once too often by games they pay for without knowing and then realizing it to be a POS.

I understand that either you are a big fan of the game or you work for the game, either way people here do no pay for games that have no free trial.

$12.50 is nothing compared to the Buy the game and get free month. Like SWG, WOW(may be downloaded now not sure), Guild wars, Everquest. The game boxes cost more then 12.50 the majority of the time.

12.50 maybe nothing to you :)

Either way i've already put my point. Rest is upto you :) Goodluck

The Trial for this game is not free but it is only a one time fee of 4 dollars to try for i think its a week.  its almost 60 cents a day. it is really worth it

So I am the creator, admin, programmer, artist, tester, community manager, etc for Project Visitor.  I work very hard on the game every month, I maintain constant contact with the community, I utilize the communities ideas, art, suggestions, etc.  Yes I actually listen.

I also pay a huge chunk of change every month for the servers, bandwidth, repairs, insurance, electricity, etc.

nothing is free, sure some big company can utilize advertising or some other subsidized way to pay for the game, but us independent  folks rely solely on the community to support the game.

The way the game is structured you can not have free accounts, the accounts are setup with lots of valuable stuff and full access to the game so that you can get involved in all aspects right away.

Instead of a free trial, we have a free client and an initial startup fee of 5 bucks to play all your want for a whole week.  After that you can move to a recurring subscription or play for another week trial.

5 bucks is hardly asking much for all the effort, energy, and expenses that go into this game every month.

Its certainly better then spending 49.95 to get a game that blows(not all games, especially MMO have free trials).

Normally you have to buy the client and they give you a couple weeks to a month for free.

So instead of trying to provide some cheap limited and boring free experience, you can check it out for 5 bucks and get access to everything.

So help support independent games, and all the efforts that people like me put into these things.

    Thanks.

Damn, you guys are still going? Mad props for The Martian, he took this game under his wing and helped a community revive their game. I might have to check it out again. One question though, being a young visitor wouldn't I be at a huge disadvantage? I am sure the people who got in right away are quite wealthy and secured.

I played this game waaaaay back in the day. It was always a fun game to kill some time in.

10six was an amazing game when I played it back in the day.  Whenever a convo gets started about mmos with my friends I bring up 10six.  I played all throughout closed beta for heat and sega, and was one of the top players during that time (Send me a pm if you played and remember Stukov).  I quit and never came back when open beta came b/c of the cheating that went on.  10six was the closest any developer has come at creating a great rts-mmo.

To reply to some of the comments, you can still start out new and compete against players that have been around for awhile.  Will take a little time to build up but you have significantly more protection as a new player then you ever did before.

As for the last post about quitting the old game because of the cheats, the first thing I spent all my time on, several years ago,

was fixing all the cheats.  And yes they are fixed.

I have also spent a huge amount of time fixing bugs, adding features, improving the look(thanks to tons of help from the community because my programmer art is not great lol)

The game is pretty different then the original, lots of details have been changed, its more balanced then it use to be, more and more tedious aspects of the game have been removed or replaced with automated systems.

But as far as MMO's go, the original was one of the first, its still one of only a couple MMO  games that are true

persistent games (the whole world changes and persists not just your character).  And yet its load times, transfer

times to other camps is probably one of the fastest around(players complain if it takes more then a few seconds lol).

The game is certainly a challenge and not for the faint of heart, as you can lose a lot of your stuff as quickly as you earned it

and so this is not a game you can log off for a month and expect to come back to where you were.

But it is a game with a rich community, a world that you build, design, protect, and attack.  You combine

different objects to improve the stats of your units, you do your best to dominate the planet.

But many a high level player has been punched back to reality when another group comes along and takes him down a notch.

    So its constantly changing.

Its a game that was way ahead of its time and someday we will get a brand new approach to its design, but for now its an interesting game and a piece of history and Ill try to keep it alive as long as there is a community to support it :)

As TheMartain says its a game that is always changing. its one of those games you'll hate but love at the same time. once you play that week trial you will be hooked for life. Sure you may quit but you will always come back. we got guys that have quit hundreds of time but they always come crawling back. As for the big guy TheMartain, he's the coolest person you will ever talk to. he loves the game and if you have a problem, usually he can fix it for you. I am not currently playing at the moment and well i love the game and have been away from it for a a year or two, but after hearing all the changes and cool things that are happening with the game im definately coming back by the end of the year. Also the new people are what helps keep the game going and the players realize this, so drop in and say hi. Dont be suprised if some of the big guys help you out a little so you can get started in your quest for domination. So check it out for yourself and you may meet some cool people in game.

    Bluewarrior7 out!

Well it would be dated even for 2006 because it would have been a 1997-2000 game.
I was on Heat.net almost everyday and never heard or seen this game before.
IMO they should just give it up and try again.
Stuff like this is what i woudl expect as a cheap mobile game. There were people LUCKY enough and early in on the mobile gaming that made a ton of money off of VERY simple games.

Heat.Net was the best gaming site ever made in the history of gaming, too bad we don't see sites like that anymore.

it actually offered something to the gamers and not about advertising and offered tons of various games not dedicated to ONE brand like Blizzard's Battle.net.
