Sorry, I don't have $50 to waste everytime someone poops out a MMO. I'll take the majority word for it and pass. It's pretty clear that everyone has stated not to bother buying the game for a few months. People are already quitting. Too many bugs. System requirements aren't a valid excuse in my book. So I won't count those. People are already getting close to max level. So what happens in a week when everyone is maxed out? There are no official forums for support or community. No purpose for PVP. Granted, it is suppose to be a PVE game. Low population. Lots or people still waiting to see if this game is getting fixed. SOE. Banning/suspending players if they have large amounts of gold. To investigate if they are gold farmers. The community isn't that great. Ask a question in game, you get answered back like "Go back to WOW noob"! Or players posting in websites that want bugs fixed get flamed. Shall I go on as to why I haven't gave them $50 of my money yet? And if it's so good, then why aren't you playing. YOU and a few others here are ALWAYS on this website 24 hours a day, posting within minutes. Did you lose intest in the game already? If it's THAT good, why do you feel the need to defend it? Why won't they open an Official forum (because they don't want potential customers to see negative posts). Do I really need to pay $50 to tell you that? The best part is, I didn't make any of that up. IT'S ALL TRUE.
People are more likely to speak out when they are uhappy about something, especially in such an unformal place as a forum, then when they are happy. One unhappy customer will tell 7 others; while one happy customer might tell one other. Or something like that. Just the way it is.
I think what the OP is getting at is that there are a lot of people who haven't even played VG making posts about how bad it is, and I would have to agree with him.
If there were an official forum you wouldn't see negative posts because they would be moderated.
So you read a few comments from posted by people with the intent of making the game look bad to others and think everything they say is true?
I have yet to see a, "go back to WoW" comment while in game.

People quit things everyday, including games.
I post here a lot and still play the game. I have nerve dmg in my neck and through my arms so sometimes it's just not feasable for me to play because of the pain; it's easier to type, something I can stil do at about 60 words a minute.
You're right, you didn't make any of that up. You did exactly what the OP was saying. You read posts by other people and then just reposted the stuff you saw. So let me ask you, how much of an individual are you when you prove that you're incapable of thnking for yourself?
Well, I'm going to come out and tell you off the top that I don't play Vanguard.
Now let me tell you why I've postponed paying $45-$50 for a 30-day trial of the game.
It's because I watched and waited, read forums all over the 'net, mostly on Vanguard "fansites".
There were so many reports of problems, bugs, difficulties, and features that weren't going to be available until some time after release, that it was blatantly obvious that those who pre-ordered or bought Vanguard on Release Day were actually being asked to PAY to beta test.
And, people with better machines than I have were bleeding all over the forums about how low they had to run the game settings to get better than 10FPS. I went through that with EQII two years ago, but I was under-informed then. This time, I've got all kinds of information from beta testers and Release Day players. And I have some upgrades in the planning stages for this computer, because it's time for some upgrades, regardless of the to play or not to play issue with Vanguard.
And finally, truly informed people who are seriously into Vanguard write things like Shayalyn of TenTonHammer wrote. This is the link, maybe it'll work, or maybe you'll have to ctrl-c ctrl-v this to go look.
"I'm not sure what I can add to the discussion that my mini-review didn't already cover. If you were a big fan of EverQuest, I think there's a good chance you'll feel some of the same feelings in Vanguard. There seems to be a decent community on my server, although you'll find the reviews are mixed--in some respects the community is divided between the Vanguard fanboys and...all the rest. The fanboys tend to be pretty ravenous, unfortunately. Say anything negative about the game, or compare it to WoW, and you're bound to get verbally bitch slapped on the forums, and occasionally in game.
That said, I do think Sigil will iron out the kinks fairly soon. They've been working diligently on the game. They were forced to launch earlier than they wanted to (I'm guessing money concerns), but they've been putting in some mean hours getting the game up to speed. They're quite the hard-working dev crew.
I can't tell you whether to buy the game or not--you'll just have to judge for yourself. I can say that I don't think you'll be alone in the newbie areas if you wait a while. I think Vanguard's going to be a sleeper that lots of people will come to only after it's had some time to mature, and only after the negative buzz turns more positive (which I think it will, given time)."
So, I feel I'm perfectly right in saying Vanguard's got some issues that I'm not willing to put up with, and I'm not buying it until the Devs have gotten a handle on things and made it something it should've been before release date. And I may not buy it then. I've recently gotten back into EQ, and having a lot of fun, after nearly 2 years off. What I'd really like to see before long is one of those Free 7-day trial accounts for Vanguard. Maybe too soon for that, but it would help me on my if/when decision.
And... on the Xfire suggestion... screw that. If you don't like the negative posts, that's too bad. And if you need something to make you "more inclined to listen", then you're just a fool. The fact that you have Xfire doesn't mean jack to me. And the fact that you play doesn't mean jack to me. The fact that you seem to be perfectly happy overlooking problems that hundreds of other players are posting about says more than anything else.... Don't take me seriously, tho.

I'm sure, like most have said already, VG will be a good game one day. That's great. There isn't enough "good" games out there right now. But I don't think anyone is out-of-line by what they have posted, except the obvious troll bait threads.
I'm smart enough to sit back, observe, and then base my decision on what information is provided. My decision isn't what you would have done, too bad. I guess I'm just being an individual.
I don't think there is nothing wrong with people posting the pros and cons about the game. Niether do I think it's wrong to inform people that they should concider waiting a few months to see if they finish the game.

Does that mean EQ is not finished if they still release content and patch the game?
The MMORPG forums are a n00b infested wasteland. If you want a real opinion of vanguard visit one of many fansites, composed of actual players who aren't out to get the game like most are here.
As for these wastelands:
20% of the haters here have never played.
20% either played beta and decided they hated it then, or they played Vanguard for only one or two days before throwing in the towel.
10% have given the game a legitimate try and don't like it.
The other 50% are having a blast in game right now, and don't even spend much time on the forums.
Why would the people who hate the game, still play the game?
The point is to make people bashing the game who HAVEN'T played the game stop being R-tards.
If you tried it and didn't like it, G'bye.
The only ones being R-tards are the ones who insist that any and all criticism of Vanguard = being a hater/troll.
The only ones being R-tards are the ones who meet any criticism with the spectacularly stupid line of "Go back to WoW n00b!"
The only ones being R-tards are the ones who think that this is a forum that exists solely for Vanguard players. This is a *public* forum, where every opinion is allowed.
Don't want to hear negative/critical opinions of Vanguard? Do like Sigil did and confine all your time on the fanboy forums. Don't expect a public website to cater just to the fans of the game. Anyone can post here, and opinions will always vary.
The thing is its all about personal preferance. I have no problem with the performance of vanguard but ppl with simular machines than be think it's a pos. It's the same with te eq2 release. The only bug that bothered me in eq2 was crashing every 3-5 hours. This sort of thing doesn't bother me.
So when ppl say vg has poor performance you minght agree or disagree.
i wish soe would make good games so blizzard would try harder.
the lack of competition in the mmo sector is what fucked it up.
so glad blizz came along and made the big bucks.
there is going to be huge competition over their 10 million subscribers soon. in 2+ years i'm guessing. and i'm not talking about conan or huxely or warhammer, i'm talking about games conceived purely to kill world of warcraft, games started 1 year + after wow realeased.
that does not include huxely, warhammer, or conan

You start of with a blanket statement that everyone has said not to buy the game for a few months. That's a lie.
People are already quitting. That's just a silly statement as people quit things every day.
To many bugs. Well that can be subjective and really dependant upon a personal experience as I haven't encounter a single bug yet. Not saying I won't, just saying I haven't yet.
People are already reaching max lvl and what will happen in a week when everyone has just shows ignorance because you are misinformed and using a post about a single individual as a bases for a problem with the game. You can log into the vanguard leaderboards and look at the lvls of everyone playing the game and see that a VAST magority haven't even hit the 30s yet.
Very few people were suspended for suspicious amounts of gold, and I have yet to see anyone get banned that didn't deserve it. Your statement was an exageration of a post made earlier and falls right in line with what the OP was saying. It also demonstrates ingnorance as once again you are misinformed.
Low pop. You don't play the game to know what the population is; grossly ingnorant of the facts, and once again going off of a post someone else made that wasn't true.
SoE? That one is just sad. Sigil made the game and sony provides all the non developental aspects for Sigil, as any publisher would.
Community? You don't play the game and the few posts by people who don't like the game stating that the community sucks is also subjective and dependant upon personal experience. I personally haven't had any trouble with the community and I play on a FFA PvP server, go figure.
And your last line shows a lack of individualism as you use exageration and OPINION as your basis, not to mention that you state these things, as TRUE.
I'm not telling you to buy the game but if you want a better idea of what the game is like then reading the negetive posts on this website is about the worst possible way of going about it. There are plenty of reviews out now that give a much better idea of what the game is like, as well as other forums better suited for gathering factual information then this one.
I have read maybe one post on this forum that was truelly objective and unbiased in thier assement of the game.
Edit: A realised something funny about your post as well. Most of the negetivety you posted came from troll bait threads.

Ok, well this discussion isn't going anywhere. We both believe we are right.
I am merely pointing out that people can make up their own opinon without buying the game. I read both sides of the arguements. More bad than good, yes. You have a excuse for that, yes.
I'll just say that everything that you addressed towards me is absolutly correct. I'm just not buying it for the reasons that I listed.
I forget the guys name, but he is one of you handful of people defending this game (the one with the Indiana Jones sig). He made a thread thanking haters. I totally got his point, and it made sense. The "haters" held Sigil accountable for thier game. Raising the standards higher for Sigil. In the end, I think that is a good thing for VG. Just like he suggested.
Nakedone, I didn't post anything here to imply my being right or wrong. I was simply pointing out that the negetive post you made was based off of exagerated, untrue, or misinformed posts made by other people. I was implying that you let another persons opinion to become your fact. I wasn't debating bugs in the game or performance issues, and could care less if people like/ dislike the game because I enjoy it and that's all I need to know.
People exagerating fact or just outright lying in no way helps Sigil or VG, and you are proof of that. Making posts on a public forums that a game is bugg infested and unplayable even on a high end rig does nothing to help Sigil; it turns people away from a game that is playable. And VG being playable is a FACT and TRUE because I can play it on a medium to low end system just fine.
The OP was getting at the amount of posts made by people that don't even play the game, but feel entitled to bash it. Much like yourself. You can not make up your own mind without accually having your own personal experience; until then you have no reason to make a negetive comment about something you don't personally know anything about. This is not the same thing as making an informed decision about something. You made an informed decision, but have not experienced the game to have an opinion on how it plays.
It would be like telling people that corn sucks because someone else said it sucks, how the hell would you know if you never tried corn.
No, you don't have to spend 50 dollars to decide if your ready to play something, but untill you've spent the 50 dollars or played a game by some other means, how bout you keeping your negetive opinion, about something you have no first hand experience with, to yourself.
I read every post in this tread and you know whats missing is the guys that have been around here bashing vanguard sence the day NDA was lifted and i think thats who the OP was aming his post at . Not you people that tried it and honestly dont like it , its easy to tell who tryed it and didnt like it they make one maybe two posts than you never see them again . When i read any tread on vanguard i pretty much know who 6 of the first 10 posters are going to be and what their going to say
I seem to attract the most intellectual rebuttals... I've been graced by such rebuttals as "yah you are so stoopid, think again." or "try again sport." These really make me question my opinions. /edit. Pure, I acknowledge bugs in my post, above. Want to know what bugs I deal with? 1. Rarely, surfaces in the game appear completely blank white. Sometimes where a big boulder should be, I see a big white spot in the shape of a boulder. If I turn my torch on or off, it sometimes fixes it. 2. Every two hours, or so, I crash to desktop. It takes me about 45 seconds to recover from that. 3. Mobs sometimes dissapear when fighting. If you have aggro, all you have to do is backup a few feet and viola, the mob is back in view. If it dies when invisible, you just type /loot. These bugs are so minor and have practically no effect on my gameplay. As I said, the fun I have in VG far overshadows these infrequent and brief inconveniences.
I'm sitting here on the patching screen, less than an hour to go. Thanks for making me excited. Sorry to all the people posting that the bugs are horrible, the game's unplayable, etc. Yes, you're the majority, but the minority enjoying it seem to be able to tell me why they love it, and what issues there are and aren't, rather than just saying it's the worst game ever, vangrind, individuality, kids, whatever you're all saying these days.
Pardon me, but do you even read the complaints? You are talking out your ass if you think they don't come up with specifics on why they dislike the game. All of the posts that I have read or participated in that regard have been very specific on what they don't like about the game.
In reagards to swede2's comment. The same could be said of the rabid vanbois. Its almost a given on who is going to reply and exactly what they're going to say.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
Originally posted by Fariic Nakedone, I didn't post anything here to imply my being right or wrong. For the highend rigs. Well, I don't pay attention to that. I know better. As of now, my PC can't run VG, and I know this without finding out the hard way. Just like I know it won't handle AOC when it comes out. I'm saving up to build a new one just for that reason, newer games require more. The negative post complaining that thier computer can't handle the game are pretty lame. Just like the threads asking if there is a monthly fee.
I know you replied to each reason I listed about why I'm waiting to see how this game turns out. But nothing really proves them wrong. You (generaly speaking) cannot just say, "that is wrong" just because you like the game.
People post on this site because they can "somewhat" speak freely without censorship and deleted post like other sites. I'm just going to have to take the side of the majority on this one. Never have I seen so much negative post about a game at launch besides Dark and Light (if that even counts).
I sure you'll argue this but I think this is why everyone is "waiting to see". If it was a shitty game, nobody would put in the effort flaming/defending the game, they would move on. You guys see post that you don't like. But it's only because "haters" want this game to turn out to be good.
The "hate" threads usually list a reason or state the problem to why they don't like the game. The "vanboi" replies are usually, "you're wrong", "stfu" (like in last nights thread), go back to "WOW". See the difference?

To Telon!
Its playable, but very repeditive and very buggy, but besides that every game i've played to date(and i've been playing MMORPG's for about 11 years) have all been very buggy at release.
It may have a bright future, but it seemed that the lack of numbers(people wise) on the servers made me feel as if i was playing a single player game, minus the nonsensical banter over world chat.
I was pretty bummed out though that I didnt make it past level 20 in game before i was bored to tears. What i did like was the varietys of classes and as a bard we had some pretty cool songs/spells. I guess as a pvp'r it was difficult to stay with a game where there was no real end goal pvp wise, but then again, ever since Camelot i seemed to be getting burned in that area in every new game that is released. There is always hope, or quite possibly i've outgrown MMO''s.(perrish the thought!)
I can see this game being fun for those who like to take it easy.(pve'rs) I'm sure within the next 4 months it will be polished enough and new content added to keep such folk happy. Its a shame that investors force a company to release a game so they can see those numbers role in, if that wasn't the case I guess we'd see all MMO's finsihed at release.
Take it easy.
PS.. I was a huge fanboi before pushing that "edit account/canel account" button.
hehe if u dont like ppl bashing the game u like then go play ur game instead of trolling the board and worry so much about what other ppl said. And if this game is so great why is the population is so low?
The pop is low because the game just came out, what do you expect it to have 8 million like WoW right off the bat.
The population will decline after the first month.
Look at EQ2 that population is low due to system requirements and Vanguard needs even more!
Lets not forget that WoW had close to 1 million American and European subcribers in the first week and it went gang busters shortly after that. I haven't heard of Vanguard breaking 100,000 yet.

Are you sure about that? I thought it was only about 400k on the american side.

Have they made any official announements of numbers or is your number "common sense/knowledge"?

It wont come even close to wow numbers for the fact they can't run it!! brilliant strat make a game that has such steep specs the company line is maybe vid cards prices will come down and more can afford to play.. awesome planing by the time that happens the vg newness will be worn and peeps be looking at the new games coming out ie warhammer(i bet WH does close to wow numbers first week close to a mill), aoc . who knows if vg gets eq2 numbers i guess they will be happy and maybe it will get fixed like eq2 did and get decent 6 months from now. As for now it is not nor will ever come close to wow numbers. I myself can't give soe anymore of my money you only can get kicked in the face so many times !even though station pass is still a great payment option just wish all the games wern't in such a sad state atm ( cept maybe eq2 )
I didn't buy the game for a number of reasons (so far)...
1. SoE
2. My computer can't support the graphics
3. I've read the "I hate the game" posts and the "I love the game posts."
It's important to hear everyone's point of view before I'm gonna take the plung. But more importantly, after playing so many MMO's and feeling discouraged after the first few weeks I want to make sure that my money and time investment is well placed. I love people who troll the boards, they give insight that the kool-aid drinkers could never give.
Comments
EVERYWERE I go I see people; in fact every time I log on the servers are at either high, or if your on theridon, medium.
SOE is the publisher and they are handling the servers, Sigil is the developer; learn the dif.
I can hunt other players for coin and and infamy. That's a purpose.
VERY FEW people are getting high lvl. This was posted in another thread. Something like 65 toons over 35 of 250,000 made. And anyone who plays 20hours a day is going to lvl fast; duh.
This is the link, maybe it'll work, or maybe you'll have to ctrl-c ctrl-v this to go look.
http://shayalyn.blogs.tentonhammer.com/?p=26
And, I emailed Shayalyn and she responded with:
"I'm not sure what I can add to the discussion that my mini-review didn't already cover. If you were a big fan of EverQuest, I think there's a good chance you'll feel some of the same feelings in Vanguard. There seems to be a decent community on my server, although you'll find the reviews are mixed--in some respects the community is divided between the Vanguard fanboys and...all the rest. The fanboys tend to be pretty ravenous, unfortunately. Say anything negative about the game, or compare it to WoW, and you're bound to get verbally bitch slapped on the forums, and occasionally in game.
My canceled account screenie.
You know what man? I don't have to blow 50 bucks to be an "individual".

Does that mean EQ is not finished if they still release content and patch the game?eqnext.wikia.com

The population will decline after the first month.
Look at EQ2 that population is low due to system requirements and Vanguard needs even more!

Have they made any official announements of numbers or is your number "common sense/knowledge"?
I didn't buy the game for a number of reasons (so far)...
1. SoE
2. My computer can't support the graphics
3. I've read the "I hate the game" posts and the "I love the game posts."
It's important to hear everyone's point of view before I'm gonna take the plung. But more importantly, after playing so many MMO's and feeling discouraged after the first few weeks I want to make sure that my money and time investment is well placed. I love people who troll the boards, they give insight that the kool-aid drinkers could never give.
