Iraq and Al-Qaida WERE working together

Oh wait...no the were NOT.

Bush said it on national TV

Cheney said it on national TV

Rumsfield said it on national TV

And now all of it has proven to be false and a lie.

Wonder who is gonna bite the dust for this one...

Wait wait wait, so all this time democrats and liberals have been saying that they didn't have ties and it wasn't actually fact?  I'm shocked.

And just so that I'm not accused of avoiding the subject:  go read some of my other posts on the subject, you'll see that I'm not a big fan of the war in iraq anyway.  I just found this all to be a little bit ironic.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Democrats...Republicans...who gives a f*ck who supported this war or believed that they had ties with eachother?

    Thats not the point.

The point is that Feith gave purposeful wrong information about ties between Iraq and Al-Qaida. This same person was good friends with and employed by Donald Rumsfield. Coincidence? Doubt it.

    P.S. How is this ironic?

They both did. They both lied to you. They just said what everyone wanted to hear.

The point is in the run up to the next war, they both will again. Just like they do in every war.

Next time, those who still remember will be looking out for it.

Yup..... no chance of learning from your mistakes I guess ??

That would be too much like advancing as a species. Best we just retain that nice comfortable feeling that everyone is out to get us and attack before they get a chance to. Thats bound to make the world a safer place.

Statistically the average American is more likely to commit suicide than be killed by a terrorist on US soil. But I dont see 10 gazillion dollars going into mental health.

Does anyone have any idea where Iraq's chemical and biological weapons went? We know they used to have them and we can't find them.

Remember when the coalition found over a dozen fighter jets, buried under the sand in the middle of nowhere? The only reason they had a clue they were there was because of a partial document that hadn't yet been burned. If they can hide fricking planes out there without us noticing, why not a few much smaller containers?

My guess, is that they were either distributed to the winds, to whatever buyers were handy on short notice, or were buried out there somewhere under the desert.

Not to mention, there is substantial, but not directly conclusive, evidence that a massive amount of chemicals were washed down the river a day or two before the invasion.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

    A Trip down Memory Lane

Of course all of  you forget how many of the left's heroes were singing the words "Saddam and Osama" in the 90's and beyond.  Short memory and all I suppose.  Here is a refresher:

We have solid reporting of senior-level contacts between Iraq and al-Qaida going back a decade.

    - George Tenet 2002

there was that relationship that went from opposing each other to not opposing each other to possibly working with each other.

    - Patrick Fitzgerald 2004

Certainly there's a connection between Iraq and al Qaeda

    - General Wesley Clarke 2002

In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.

    - Sen. Hillary Clinton 2002

I want to be real clear about the connection with terrorists. I've seen a lot of evidence on this. There are extensive contacts between Saddam Hussein's government and al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. I never could reach the conclusion that [Saddam] was part of September 11. Don't get me wrong about that. But there was so much smoke there that it made me worry. And you know, some people say with a great facility, al Qaeda and Saddam could never get together. He is secular and they're theological. But there's something that tied them together. It's their hatred of us.

    - Sen. Joe Lieberman 2003

You may want to place all the blame squarely on the Democrats Outfctrl, but I'd say not even half the blame is deserved by them. They may have supported the War, agreed to the botched documents, and helped fund the billions of dollars on this illegal escapade throughout the Middle East, but they were not the actual players. They were the cheerleaders in this whole ring of lies of deceit. Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield still hold about 90% of the blame for ACTUALLY organizing the hoax, and actually going to war.

After all the person who falsified the report was employed directly by Rumsfield.

Who holds the most blame for losing a football game? The players, or the cheerleaders?

It turned out his “high level contact” was in fact an Al Qaeda member sneaking into a Bagdad Hospital for treatment while trying to avoid being executed on sight by Saddam’s people.
there was that relationship that went from opposing each other to not opposing each other to possibly working with each other.

Something most of the world and most US intelligence agencies knew was false back then and something everyone now knows is false in fact Bush has publicly admitted as much.

most of this information came from a couple Iraqi defectors who have now been proven to have been inventing information so they would not be deported.

Like many US politicians he believed the false intelligence reports being spread by the Bush Whitehouse. These reports have been pretty thoroughly debunked at this point.
Even the Bush Whitehouse has publicly admitted there was never any link between Saddam and Al Qaeda.  It is amusing to watch people contune to try and rationalize their own ignorance and foolishness in the face of overwhelming evidance.

As far as I can tell from that article, nobody is going to bite the dust unless a few Dems can get another investigation going that will find that the report or intelligence gathered by Feith was unlawfully obtained or conducted.

Actually it’s only people in the US who fell for it, the rest of the world had a good handle on what was really going on.  In the US however the president blatantly lied about the intelligence and the news media gave him a free pass on it so a lot of people, politicians included got taken in.  What outfctl is saying amounts to “sure my guy lied to get people to go along but what happened as a result is really everyone else’s fault because they believed him.”
