I just started beta

I was invited to beta quite awhile ago but to be honest..didnt feel like downloading it.  After the NDA was lifted and it seemed to get good reviews i became interested and downloaded it yesterday.  So anyway,  I have only played about  6 hrs so far but these are my first impressions.

1.  First thing i noticed....no female dwarfs....uuuugh

2.  I think the character models look pretty good.  Hobbits look great.  Coming from WoW...character customizing is really   good..but noticed that there is no slider for noses on human females.  pretty sure male dwarfs you could select that.

3.  I tried a few classes and they all seem to kill really fast.  This is definitely a game a casual, solo player can play.

4.  This game feels alot like wow....same kinda ui...quests are actually easier to find in this game since it shows ya on map where to get them and where to deliver when completed.

5.  From what i could tell...this game could easily be released now...seems quite polished.

Anyway, im pretty new at the game so when i get into it a bit more i will try to update my review....(for better or worse)

Easy work-around for the female dorfs. Just give your Male a Female name.

It's easy going yes, but as you advance it gets a bit harder. I have not played any char above 16, simply because I want something to look forward to when the game goes live. I am also hoping for a solo friendly game til the end.

How can you know there's no female dwarves? When you create a character it only says 'Dwarf' it doesn't have (male/female) behind it like other races. Female dwarves look the same as male dwarves so there's no reason to have two choices. You can then choose yourself if you are a male or female and but it in your bio.

I don't think any classes get sliders for facial features at all.

The only slider is the girth one, which lets you pick between looking like Popeye or Olive Oil.

I find the chargen really lacking.

Previous played: SWG (pre-NGE), DAoC, CoH, Anarchy Online, DDO, Champions Online Beta, LOTRO, GW2, SWTOR

No...you have sliders for eyes, eyebrows, mouth, head, head size, hair and a details slider which is like adding a mole or something.  also can change hair color ..skin color...girth size.  Thats why i was surprised no nose.

Gaylen, what race did you try playing that doesn't have the sliders? I'm playing an Elf and there's definitely the controls mentioned by johncinn.

I'm extremely impressed by what I've seen in game so far. It's like night and day when compared to another recent beta test I was in. *cough*

I agree with previous posters, this game looks and feels ready for release. I'm going to continue playing beta till about 10 days from release and if I still feel the same way, I'll pre-order it.
