Is it worth it?

I am currently thinking of getting Planetside for myself and was wondering.... should I?.... is the game still worth it?... is there still people playing it?.... and is there perhaps something better out there?

The above post really puts some serious insight to your question and gives a lot of information.  It's truely a legendary, flawless, delivery of typing.  image

Seriously though, there's a free trial version you can try with limits however, it does end in March?  I am not sure but it's well worth the check out for a free download.

Planetside is ALWAYS a good adrenaline rush and constant tense moments.

Highly recommeneded if you already have SOE Station Access (or play any other SOE games - as then you can get Station Acess for ALL SOE games for 1 price).

They've got many of the same elements, but it's like comparing Zelda to Final Fantasy ^^ You might like both, or hate one because it doesn't do the things the other does.

If you're curious enough about PS to ask, then it's probably worth the download to check it out even if it ends up disappointing.

Battlefield is like advanced Counterstrike, slightly bigger but not big enough to be considered a MMO. And maps arent that big as in PS.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

This game is fun simply becuase  at the moment there isnt anything out there like it. I'm finally coming out of a 2 year WoW fix, quit after BC came out like many others, and I need something to take my mind off of the disappointment.  While not being a true RPG, for me its like taking Team Fortress Classic and expanding it to a global scale.  After 2 days I had gotten past level 6 and unless you upgrade to a paid account you cant level any further, but believe me if you need a break from the norm MMO its definately worth it.

Still searching for my next REAL MMORPG, Vanguard looks fun but I've heard a bit bad about it.....sigh i wish Tabula Rasa and Warhammer were out :(

Sorry but this game was never a RPG or MMORPG. It is a MMOFPS, only one of its kind for the time being until Lost Cause and Huxley come out.

And because it is the only game in town, it is totally worth it...even better if you have the all access pass anyways

Its certainly worth checking out the trial, but once that ends I doubt the game will be worth it because the game population will likely decrease quite a bit, meaning smaller and smaller battles.

Sure, Planetside is worth it, if you have friends to help in your torture experince which planetside comes out to be.

Well at first the game does seem intense and enjoyable. But then you pick up on the all the bugs and terrible server lag. People shoot you out of their back, warp like crazy, shoot you through walls and through doors, etc. Then there is hackers, they are a blast, traveling at light speed, using aim bots, and so forth.

When you first join you'll most likely die a lot, but if you put work into trying to get better, you can get more kills then deaths with ease. So that problem really isn't so bad dispite when you die sometimes and don't even see any animation (a bit bother-some).

The fights usually aren't that bad, there is enough of players to be able to fight at pretty much at all times. The population is a bit lacking comapred to years ago, but it isn't like it is 10 on 10.

Lag is sometimes an issue, for no reason a lot of the time. I would assume the servers are the cause, but who knows.

The community is terrbile. I hope you enjoy playing with 9-14 year olds, who love, and I mean LOVE crying. If you use half of the stuff in the game, they will cry over it. (MAXs, Med Packs, Personal Shield Implant, etc.) None of them can't stand losing a 1on1 battle. Sad part is they are already BR25(max br) and been playing for year(s); they should be use to everything by now. But nah, they'll keep on crying. I obtain hate tells everyday pretty much, most of them I can barely understand. "your dumb" is a perfect example.

Also if you want to obtain CEP(for CR) now a days, it is nearly impossbile on certain teams. From all the players already being CR5 or just friends of other people and helping them get higher CR. Joining an outfit most of the time is a joke, they act they are like your slave master and just command command, never once consider maybe that you'll want to get some CEP. Plus teams may always be so low populated that they have trouble capturing bases and may end up being Sanc. Locked (it is a joy...)

There is much more to it, but Planetside is really setting itself up to die, they never fix anything and the game is upping the price. So more players are gonna leave, and of the new content they purpose is not worth sticking around for. (Stealth Snipers?...-sigh-) Oh well, only reason I stick to it is cause' sometimes the game seems incredible and you don't realize that it most likely isn't worth the going to be $15 a month.

Thank You. As for the better, there really isn't much, but Huxley looks like it'll be good, though no one knows when that is going to be released last time I checked.

This really isn't a realistic view of PlanetSide at all. Just a other one of those whiners .

Up until recently, I'd say no.  Now that development has actually begun (again), I say yes.

MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan

I let planetside go few months ago .

At that time i could not see the justification of my monthly fee.At that point it seemed the game was run purely by 1 guy who just turned the servers on and off .There was virtually no CSR or development.

However,i seen the planned add on for the next 2 months and its looking impressive .
