Responsiveness of Turbine and Codemasters

LOTRO continues the irksome trend of splitting up the market. While the developers Turbine host the US servers, Europeans (and the rest) are hosted by Codemasters. While there isnt anything inherently wrong with doing this (apart from splitting up international guilds) and I presume the rights to host a regions servers are auctioned off to raise development capital, theoretically it should mean that support is more responsive, that is if you have an issue its addressed by someone on the same timezone as you, however after being burned by GN/AE with Horizons Im inclined to caution.

Should (in the unlikely event) someone have experience of both Turbine and Codemasters in this or other games, how do the compare? Are they both responsive? If you have a problem on an Euro server that needs dev attention do Codemasters escalate things quickly to the actual developers? Anyone have experience of other games where Codemasters and Turbine have worked together?

I'm playing DDO in Europe at present so my dealings are with Codemasters and as far as I can tell I have not even thought about them being separate entities really it's all seamless. The ONLY bugbear would be that Turbine have the test server Risia so US players get to try out changes before they go live, whereas we in Europe don't, also, those changes are implemented onto the US servers before Europe.

On the other hand, Codemasters do seem to host more live events on the European servers than Turbine do on the US servers and Codemasters also seem to have more competitions etc than US do, so it swings in round abouts really.

From the technical standpoint, if you need a GM in Europe, it's almost instant that they appear, so the Euro team at Codemasters are in our timeline if you like!

You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

That's welcome news. My nagging doubt was that playing on a Euro server Id be a second class player, but your account quashes that concern.

    Thank you!

You probably can but the frames per is usually a bit higher.

If you want to play the US servers and you're not in North America, Australia or New Zealand you'll need to import a copy of the game from the US, and visa versa.

As has been mentioned the price you pay is increased latency, but you're not playing counterstrike here, 200 extra ping really isn't going to make that noticeable a difference.

Personally I really wish mmorpgs would stop licensing off territories to other companies to manage, I rather enjoy playing with people from other places (or if Im in an unsociable mood and up at a normal time, playing when its off peak)
