How do you you PvP players feel about the "grind"?

Hey all, first post here.

I'm just curious how all you players playing on the PvP or FFA (please state which in your responses) feel about this "grind" that people are talking about. I can see that for a purely PvE game, only grinding away with no designated goal other than to be able to kill higher level mobs, the grind is a bit harsh.

But from playing games like Daoc, even though the PvE was a grind at times it was still very enjoyable since you knew you were heading for RvR and the great added excitement of that. However, if there would be no PvP to long for, the grind would not at all be nearly as pleasant.

Would not having PvP in mind and as a goal be enough for a lot of people? If they add additional purpose for PvP such as skill sets, attributes or some other rewards or goals, would that be a step in the right direction as a solution for the grind?

Any thoughts?

I play on team pvp.  I have no problem doing XP.

I'm always grouped with guildmate and we do quests together.  sometimes we just go explore dungeons.  The gnome one is pretty cool around lvl 15 and you will get your group wiped if you are not careful.

I love the danger feel in VG.  Nothing can beat the danger feel in VG atm.

If we have to PVP, be it.  We can kill the goodies no prob.  The key to PVP is :

    -Don't travel alone

    -Attack first

    -No mercy

    -Take no prisoners

Cool, but how do you "feel" about the grind? If you imagine you take away the PvP element and the PvP goals that you have set for yourself and for your future gaming experience, would you feel that the game would be too much of a grind?

What I'm trying to figure out is if the PvP eliminates much of the "grind" people are so caught up on.

I hope this makes any sense lol.

You grind in every MMO... i'm not sure i get your question.  The grind is in you head IMO.  When playing with friends and guildmates, i don't feel like grinding.

I see the "grind" as a journey.... but that is just me.  Sure people don't like the idea of not capping lvl in a month but i don't care.  I'm  having fun.

Ya I know you grind away in every mmorpg and that's sort of the point with the post. Why do people complaint about the Vanguard grind? Is it the lack of end game goals which drove people like me to grind in daocs early ages? Do you see less complainting of the "grind" from pvp servers than regular servers you think?

Does PvP in it's current state make you more driven to advance your character?

I donno.  I log in, and if my guildmates are doing some quests, i'll jump in.  We migth get into some goodies, but thats cool, we can take em down.

If i feel like crafting, i will.

All in all, i'm playing the game, not grinding it.

I think I get what he means, and I'm right there with you on that point.

I could never ever play an MMORPG that doesn't reward the grinding with some good PvP at the end.

For example I could stand the grinding let's say to level 50, just to get some good skills so I can "apply" them on other people while doing PvP.

That's just me though, I cannot play purely PvE games, for that I'd just get a game on Xbox 360..

PvP is the best on MMORPG's there's no doubt about it
