Question about partying

Only thing I've noticed when right-clicking people is an option that says "Squad Invitation" and when I select it I am told "You do not belong to a squad". So, does partying even exist in this game, and if it does....is it a case where it has to be 3 individual players that form to make a 3 person team or what?
