bad graphics. wierd skill system. decent combat. i was a lvl 31 dragon in horizons before I left and they hadn't implemented adult dragons so everybody was a lot stronger than my hatchling in combat. they have adult dragons now I believe but Im still not sure if I want to go back... good guild system too (one of the best i've seen in my opinion). good music. since last i left they had a few bugs they still needed to work out in their game like spawning inside the floor of a building and stuff like that. I enjoyed it for as long as I played it (for the most part) and would have continued if i could have been an adult dragon... in short, it has its good aspects and it has its bad-just like any other game. out of fivestars I'd probably rate it a 3 or 4.

A year ago at this time I was very excited about this game...

I played it for a couple months and got bored and eventually found myself migrating back to PS2 until WoW comes out...

The world textures are great, but the NPCs and MoBs are baaaddd...

It's worth looking at for free tho, or playing until something better comes out.

I am oldschool, loved original uo for the raw pvp. i didnt really like horizons much. imho it was not worth the money. definately do free trial before you buy. one

Best way to see if any game is for you is to try it out. As far as MMOGs are concerned, if you ask a hundred different players what they think about any given game, you'll get almost as many different opinions.
Only you know what will make you stay or leave a game site.
So try as many free trials as you can get your hands on, & have fun checking them out. ::::20::

Do not buy. I say this because it is kind of kiddish and if you can only play one mmorpg, i would not suggest it. I would suggest Anarchy-Online or Everquest.

i got problems registering account, it complains about that password is not long enough... (min lenght 7) i have tried over 100 times and still doesnt work... need help!!!

Well I was having high hopes for the games and the original concept was what was stuck in my head so when I went in I was kind of dissapointed.

But it has a great crafting system that actually has impact on the environment.

Building a house it very good for instance you just don't dump ore in a grinder like SWG or even worse drop a deed like UO  but have to build the house slowly.

The graphics while not great is quite ok as far as I am concerned.

    Very little lag ,few bugs.

Also they have events occuring that has a huge impact on the game which is a very nice touch.

However I got bored fast because the combat is very simple and repeatative. There is not much variety of mobs.Dungeons do not exist and areas that resembles dungeons don't feel like one at all.Quest apart from a very few are not at all instresting.

But free trial is free hehe.So download it and judge for yourself.

LOL!! You think you're having problems just registering, wait until you get in the game.

Go to this thread and READ. This is all you need to see to convince you whether you should play this game or not.

image after all....all you should do is NOT to rely on the vnboards....I dunno this is totally stupid.

Basing your decision on a Poll created almost 5 months ago....is a bad idea.

If you want some decent information and get an impression of the current status head over to the
    "real" community forum on http//www.tazoon.com

There you will see a lot of heavy discussion. The Devs have been seen around a lot recently.
And just play the trial....I don't give much for most of the people comlaining about games before I have played them myself :)

Actually, I am having lots of fun in Horizons....the performance is poor - for sure...but it looks nice and since it's no First Person Shooter I do not need a constant 35 FPS...although I would like to have 'em.

If you fancy the social aspect and roleplay type + a bit of crafting this game will give you much fun :)

Do not use spaces in the password (try using only letters and numbers.). Sometime there are only the last part of the password been seen by the passwors checking.

I have played it since launch.  Here is what I have seen so far:

Several features in the FAQ and website and box (still even on the faq and website and box) which are not in game yet, I was particularly let down by the lack of user controllable shops (all shops are basically just duplicates of the NPC consigner system. )

The mob models are very limited, you will be fighting the same model just renamed and with a few different powers constantly.  It lacks some diversity on that front.

There are several somewhat major bugs which have been in since release and were in in beta and still are not resolved.

Castles which they advertised pre-launch and metion in the FAQ are currently not in game, but as I mentioend before several things mentioned in the FAQ and website are not in game.

With all that said, they ARE making improvements.  But I have just been burned out on games which release with the "all MMORPGs are incompelte and buggy at release it's just how it is" philosophy.

I switched to CoH and I've been having a blast ever since.

As for trusting the VNboards, I would say go to the games OFFICIAL forums, but they actually made the VNboards the official forums.

Play the 7 day free trial.  Ask around in the game and hear what people have to say. Then make your own call.

Its an ok game. Not a great game thats for sure.

Its general game play can get old very fast.

As far as the crafting system goes.. its ok but after having put a lot of crafting levels in many different trades I can safely say its over rated. It doesnt have that feel of accomplishment and its all about levels thats about it. I took my weaponsmith to 85 and I can make just as good weapons and tools as the level 100 that hit on our server and at the same efficiency. Hate to break it to the guy but there is nothing grand about his grand weaponsmith. I actually fell asleep at the keyboard gathering resources so that I could make and deconstruct 130 cobalt masonary trowels for exp. LOL no way could a blacksmith in that day and age manufacture 5,000 to 10,000 fine dirks a day like I was doing while leveling my weaponsmith.

Its only truley unique feature that makes HZ stand out is the plot system and player housing etc. You actually have to either pay a construction class crafter to apply units to your structures or you have to level up the classes yourself. Gets to be a serious grind after awhile but in the end you have a feeling of accomplishment... HOWEVER many of the buildings are useless and much of it is eye candy right now since most of it isn't implemented. When the system is truly functional it will truly be one of a kind but right now the effort just isnt worth the reward.

Graphics are ok but HZ is by far not the best MMORPG graphics wise I have seen thus far.

Note one thing right now and for at least the next 6 months what you read on istaria.com is NOT what the game is or has. They are at about 20 percent of the advertised content being in game.

AE has a long road ahead of them.

    Horizons is not bad,

the devs give a lot of attention to the game in the moment, so await some improvements in the game the next time. They rewrote the combat engine and will start adding new monsters soon. It has the potential to be one of the best MMORPGs!
The game definitly is nothing for kiddies who want to slay monsters and players over and over. Its a community based game with a big weight on crafting.

For me, its the best game of the MMORPGs I have player till now, which are Horizons, AC2, Lineage II (bah........ bad!), City of Heroes and Ryzom (which is quite good, but needs at least 4 more month of development).....

    So try the beta.

I stopped to play Horizons but I still watch its progress! There are lots of events! I attended more events in 3 months in HZ than in 3 years in EQ. And HZ is more dynamic than lots of other MMRPGs. I believe in 3 months HZ will be there it should be.

While I agree that much whining takes place on the VN boards, this is one case where you should listen.

The general board was getting full of so many "I'm qutting horizons, and here is why" threads, they had to create an "Offical cancellation thread" which got over 250 posts before it was deleted.

I could go on and on as why you shouldn't play this game. But most of the points were made in this thread:

Including my own. Check it out.

Ive been playing HZ since beta.

The game is, right now, what it should be in the end the beta. Were having feedback from AE, a new combat engine is ig, some bugs are being solved, etc. The game is improving.

The lag issue isnt completely solved yet, not enough mobs to fight, silos are working but almost, etc.

Its a nice game to play while u wait for a big title. Or...who knows...u might like it and stay. Everybody agrees with 1 thing: the game has potential. Lets hope AE can make it.
