Preorder

Do you have to buy the game outright in preorder to be a founder's club member, or can you put like $10-20 dollars down and pay the rest on release?

I think it all depends on where you pre-order from. Some stores will make you pay all of it up front, while others will let you put a "down payment" on it. Not sure with the pre-order link on the main page. When I pre-order next week, I'll let you know. Unless you've already dont it by them.

Yeah it just depends on where you do the pre-order at.  I'm probably going to put the full price down right away then play starting March 30th until late May all for free before deciding on lifetime or $9.99 a month.

Hi, I've already pre-ordered my game online from LOTRO.com site and they made me pay for the full game. Not sure if I had to pay for shiping alreayd. Can't remember. But all in all, I can't wait to get my copy.

The only thing is that I didn't get any news regarding the founders package where we get access to the open beta...

Hoping they will send it sooner or later.

    Hope this helps.

I pre-ordered it too, and if you ordered it from gamestop (redirected from Turbine site) then they will send beta key on thursdays. So it should be there by next thursday.

    Currently: Playing EVE Online
Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland.
Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.

Yup. EBGames and Gamestop send out all of the Founder's package info on Thursdays. Just make sure you gave them a valid email.

    Thanks for the help!!

The guy at EB games in the mall said 5 bucks down and that included the disk for the preorderr beta. Unfortunately they went through 25 of them in two days but will have more in.

Hi guys, this might be a stupid question, but I never been part of any beta except for the stress beta that happened a few weekends ago for LOTRO, but what exacly is an open beta for us that has pre-ordered the game?

Are we simply playing the game while they keep working on it, or simply the game will be ready but gives us access before the release goes worldwide?

Or are we still testing thing for them?

Thanks for any info on the subject.

Not a stupid question at all, ophyus. The "/bug" feature should still be working so you would still be in a testing phase of the game. That said, the game at that point is pretty much set for launch (retail) and there shouldn't be any big changes. So it is kinda of a sneak peek at what they will launch with. Now, since you pre-ordered, Turbine has decided that those who did so will get keep their character from the open beta and have it roll over into retail. Keep in mind though that there will most likely be a level cap on that, so you won't see people taking level 50 characters from Beta into retail. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that they will cap it at like 10 or 15.

So basically it is like a try before you buy, with benefits, at the end of the real testing phase. Granted, after launch they will still like us to report any bugs, but that's what any game developer wants. If we don't tell them, they can't determine if it's something that is supposed to work that way or something that needs to be fixed. Hope you enjoy the game!

Just to clarify.  Does this mean that if I pre-order now I only get in 6 days prior to release or is there a beta currently running and I will gain access to that now?

    Thanks in advance.
